Finally an Italian restaurant that is authentic and not fru fru. Yay! I had the chicken parm which was to die for. Loved every bite. I wish they had a slightly longer happy hour because it ends at 6:30 and heading there right after work from SF doesnt get me there until 6 p.m. even if I take Uber -- which I did. My friend had the bolengese but he didnt really enjoy it. I couldnt try it to see if he was just being overly critical because I dont eat beef or pork. Looking forward to the chicken parm sliders one day when I can make it to happy hour!!!

We went here with another couple for breakfast/brunch. Between all four of us we had the Barlago scramble egg dish, 2 of the egg al forno and the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. Eggs al forno was decent but i really enjoyed my eggs benny which wasnt super heavy as usual and ambience was nice (we sat indoors) although it felt a bit dark. What was nice is that the place wasnt overcrowded so we didnt need to wait in line to get seated. Service was fast and waiter was very friendly. Overall it was a good place but not exceptional.

This Italian Kitchen is Fantastic!! Some may say its more for locals. But I think its great for everyone! Everytime I come back to California, this is my Go-To spot. Amazing people and energy. Its like a big family. Staff and guests alike. Its comfortable and thats what I love about it. If you want a nice sit down romantic dinner, you can do that too. If you want a nice view of Lake Meritt, bring a book and have a bite in the nice patio area. If you dont love this place, then you dont know Italian. Ciao Bella

Average place. Good for locals as other places fill up faster. Drinks are good and food is ok. Service is on the slower side so dont plan a fast meal here. Relax and enjoy the people watching in the evening or go for brunch on a Saturday. Sometimes a band is playing across the street.

Really great Sunday Brunch :) really nice layout outside with many tables and chairs. The inside is a little too noisy for me. Great service, great view (of all sorts of people strolling by lake is a cross a busy road), good wifi, excellent food and coffee :) All the Best

Really great place. The food was all really great and the cocktail special (guava and gin) was amazing! Really great prices, but the happy hour deals are definitely worth taking advantage of (5-6:30, and after 9). Pretty views of the lake and a nice aesthetic.

A great neighborhood spot to enjoy really great Italian food like bruschetta, meatballs and pizza! Definitely order the burrata with fig compote - its delicious! We love having Barlago on our Grand Lake Cultural Cuisine food tour!

Stopped in foe a couple drinks at happy hour with reservation at another restaurant ended up having a bunch of great appetizers and great bar tenders. Hope owners know what kind of help they have including the young lady chef.

So my experience may differ from most but this place is bad. The location is prime but a Italian restaurant that gloats about their pizza should at least know how to make one, and this place could not to save a life.

Cocktails seem good, food was unimpressive, service was slow and disorganized. We were ignored for ten minutes, food came much later than neighbors despite ordering before. And salmon salad showed up without salmon.

Cool spot with inside outside vibe, right next to the lake. The food is really good but the best thing here is the bloody Mary. Its the best one Ive yet had in the town. Its chunky, spicy and delicious.
