Ive been coming to Ale Arsenal on a regular basis since they opened and the reason I keep coming back is because they provide something unique here in San Carlos: A great rotating beer selection. Between San Carlos and Redwood City there are really only 3 places with large constantly rotating tap list and Ale Arsenal is one of them. Kyle and Lauren, the owners, are constantly working to bring in new beers that are rarely seen in these parts. They also provide prompt service and are very knowledgable about the beers that are pouring. If the large selection is daunting one can simply ask for a recommendation and they wont steer you wrong. Chris, the only other employee is also up to snuff on his beer knowledge and tell you just about anything youd want to know. On top of the rotating taps, they have a nice small bottle collection that can be consumed on premise or bought to go. There is even sake and a couple house wines. One thing that I like is that they dont serve food, but do allow you to bring your own food in. They have menus for some of the local spots too so you can order straight from the bar. Not serving food allows them to focus on service and beer while also contributing to the local establishments that do serve food nearby. If you live nearby stop in sometime for some good beer at a great local joint. If you are in the area and from out of town also stop in to meet some friendly people and try some beer youve never seen before.

Extremely pleasant vibes every time I come here. The bartenders are very attentive and friendly. I cant see myself going anywhere else thats local because this place does it well, and consistently. I live a few blocks down so driving and parking is never a problem. Impressive tap list thats always circulating. Love it when they have Fieldwork on tap. But they have not only great Bay Area breweries, but many SoCal ones too!

Best beer bar in the Peninsula, and thats not hyperbole. Constantly amazing selection, super knowledgeable and friendly staff, even has a superb bottle selection at Fair prices. Its a little on the small side though, and there is no food (though you can bring whatever you want to eat in, including Refuge which is next door). If you just want fantastic beer, this is the place to go.

This is an amazing little bar off of the main drag in San Carlos. Great selection of beers, both bottled (including some nice hard to find beers) and on tap (plenty of local brews). Small outdoor place to sit and one (!) bathroom for the whole place. Can get somewhat crowed due to the size. Make sure to check out the menu before you order as it changes frequently!

This is no pretentious hipster bar. Its what a brew place should be. Beer is good. Ale Arsenal is good. Street parking may get busy though worth the short walk if you dont get a spot up front. Loved it, decor, brews, all of it.

Love the bier--especially the German Pils on tap...just dont let the bartenders suggest a Truman Pils as a substitute! (from Berkeley and watery/bad beer) My friends love the Belgian beers. One can also get a flight of brews.

Great selection of rotating craft beers. Small selection of interesting bottles. Most of the staff is knowledgeable, polite and attentive. You can get a pastrami sandwich from next door and eat it at the bar with your beer.

Classy dive with selection beyond what you would need. Uber fresh craft beer with intelligent, kind bartenders, a gorgeous wood and metal bar resembling a full airplane wing. No food but who cares? Theres beer.

Hands down my favorite bar on the Peninsula. Great beer, super cool bartenders that know beer, plus superb beer on tap and bottle collection. And with an influence of Iron Maiden which is just damn cool!

Laid back with a great beer list. Staff is always knowledgeable and friendly. Not super fancy and no food is available, but they are cool if you bring take out from the Refuge nearby. Dog friendly.

Four flat screens: 1 playing Starship Troopers with French subtitles; 1 playing Star Trek original series episodes; 2 playing the Chicago Blackhawks game. Im never leaving. PS great beer selection!

Hopheads paradise. Great beer list and plenty of nearby restaurants to cure hunger pangs. Protip: the bottles sometimes are really competitively priced for aged beers if you have there.

Good beer selection, bottle and tap. Not cheap, but fair prices. Constantly changing menu. Right next to refuge, where you can buy good food and have it delivered to ale arsenal.

Outstanding pub with a wide assortment of local and craft brews. Heavy metal music (Iron Maiden is the cornerstone), a couple TVs for sports, and one TV playing a random movie.

Great beer selection. They allow outside food, which is a plus. The space is a bit narrow, so it tends to be easily crowded. The unisex bathroom in the back is pretty clean.

Love the selection of beer, especially the beer engine, and the fairly exciting bottle selection. But the folks who run the place really make it a great beer bar.

My first choice for dive bar. Not romantic, not classy, but a great beer list on tap and bottle, and friendly folks on both sides of the bar.

Always a great tap list; this place is a must for beer lovers on the peninsula! If you get hungry, grab some grub from Refuge next door.
