WORST... EXPERIENCE... EVER. I never have written a bad review for any restaurant, but this one REALLY deserves it! STAY AWAY. I liked the fact that EPC served huevos rancheros all day so much that I have been coming a couple of times a month for years - plus it was never really *busy* here so it felt like I was helping out a small business, which makes me feel good. But tonight, a new waitress gave me the worst ever customer service, and the chances I might have to set eyes on her again is enough that I will NEVER return. Had a coupon so came with my sweetie even though I wasnt craving huevos. Chili relleno + cheese enchilada for me, 2 cheese enchs for him: $18.60. Large guacamole: $4.85. Salsa (seriously?! This was a first!): $1.85. Coke: $1.60. And between us, 3 little margaritas which, as I pointed to the big sign in the window which says $4 all day Tuesday (which was today) when I ordered them: $12. So, with my "$10 off with purchase of $15" coupon, I expected a bill for about $30 - imagine my surprise when the bill came for $50! (We wont get into the fact that she didnt get me my bill for 20 minutes after asking for it and boxes: she was way too busy stuffing pepper into shakers. Now THAT takes some time, and priority over the customer, huh?) But no problem - math error, right? Well, when I pointed this out to her, she said the margaritas were $6.50 each since I couldnt have a "daily special" price with the coupon. I asked her to show me where this exception was stated on the coupon and she could not find it (because it wasnt there - it only prohibited other coupons). Even so... the math doesnt add up, right? So I asked her to recalculate and she came back with the same amount. At this point, Im feeling prickly and asked for my card back because I dont trust this woman to enter the numbers correctly. And the entire time, she is giving me the attitude that I am acting most unreasonably; I have never had a customer service person give so much attitude. It turns out that we only have $31 cash, and with her creative math were short $10 - but no way am I leaving my credit card with this madwoman, so give her the cash we had and told her we would be back in 10 minutes with the rest. As were leaving, the underage drunk she gave 2 pitchers to while we were there comes chasing after us, yelling out our license plate numbers... seriously? I called the Mountain View police to let them know we were not criminals on the loose. When my sweetie went in to deliver the $10, the same weirdo came chasing him out, grabbing his crotch and demanding a fight. Wow... not the kind of clientele we are accustomed to. The waitress also informed my sweetie that the owner would be there shortly, so though we were not inclined to hang around I did call when we were home to let him know what a horrible experience we had had. He told me she was "very busy" that night, and that he wanted me to come in the next day to talk about it. Of course, I will never step foot in there again. If you are craving huevos or any of the many dishes others seem to like, WAIT until there is a man behind the counter, if you dare go in at all... or be sure to check the math if it is a woman, and be prepared to be given major attitude and be physically threatened. As for me, I will go as far as I need to find huevos for dinner at ANY place but this one!

El Paso Cafe is one of the best restaurants in Mountain View. I Had the Nogales Chicken, Just perfect. I went back the next day and had the new El Paso Breakfast Burrito WOW!! It was amazing. The waitress was very helpfull and friendly. The new owner is also doing some minor changes. They are going to be open for Monday Night Football with 2 dollar beer and 2 new big screen TV"s 53" inside and in the Patio area Now you can choose how spicy you want your food too. awsome. I also asked the new owner (Celso) about the salsa. He is currently, working on a new Salsa. I cant wait to try that. I thought I saw a 20% coupon somewhere. They have very good deals during happy hour. I will definitly go back. Im going to get food for my co-workers too for our next event since they also cater.

I ordered the Caldo de pescado and it literally made me flashback to when my mother use to make it. The taste of thwir caldo is similar to my mothers. great job El Paso Cafe. AND best beef nachos. We go here all the time and just have the nachos and sangria. Great people work here, are always friendly, and its not too expensive. We love little hole-in-the-wall finds, and this is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant in Mountain View! The ownership change didnt affect the menu and I like the new people a lot.

I am confused by the negative reviews. I have been going to El Paso Cafe for years and consistently I found the food to be excellent. The decor is not great, but I go there for the food. If the weather is nice I sit on the patio out back... Very nice.

Best nachos on earth. Each nacho is individually made with perfect amounts of every topping on each perfect nacho chip. Love it! Amazing house made salad dressing!

I will probably give them another chance just try their margaritas and Sangria in their awesome back deck. But the food was pretty tasteless even the salsa

The salsa is a little tasteless, and the carne asada in the burrito could have been more flavorful. Other than that, a decent Mexican place.
