The first impression of Wineworks could use some work - only because the parking lot is so minuscule that we had to park across the northbound off ramp in the Fairfield Inn parking lot. Once we made our way into the restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised. The wine list was obviously extensive, although there were not as many Italian reds as I would have hoped for (Im going through a phase). I think what surprised me most was the food. I had checked out the menu beforehand but was not fully prepared. We tried an assortment of the shared dishes - the brussel sprouts (5 stars), the beets & burrata (wish there was more burrata) and the short rib crostini (the bone marrow could use a little more imagination). We finished off with a couple of delicious cheeses and the charcuterie plate. The service was pretty spot on for a wine bar. Our server seemed to know just the right amount of attention that we needed. My wife asked for a super tannic red and the server delivered one that did exactly what she asked for. Our neighboring tables server was much more hands-on and talkative, but he seemed to be dealing with a couple of regulars, so if you want your server to talk to you about his currentl living situation and vacation aspirations, they can do that too. Overall, there is a good chance that well return to Wineworks sooner or later. The vibe of this place is exactly what my wife and I look for when we go out in the super-chain culinary wasteland that is Orange County. Happy drinking!

Food is delecious. Hot, fresh and super tasty. That said, this place is a total drag all because of the OWNER who could not be any more rude if he tried! I concur with the comment by "JD", this d-bag totally ruined what would have been a fabulous dinner. It was a tuesday night, busy, yet not insane. We made reservations, so one would think the propriter would be able to handel the crowd-flow. NOT the case! We waited about 20 minutes for our waiter, just to order the wine. When we asked about two of the wines the waiter offered us a taste. Great, lovely! Then, after another 20 minutes passed the d-bag owner came over and told us that we "need to hurry and order our wine now." Seriously? Surly youre kidding me? Not so. This was our wedding anniversary, hence, we had hoped for a nice low-key, tasty meal. I didnt want to totally ruin the night so I held my tounge. We have been here a few times and originally thought it was a great find. Great food, good wine and we dont have to drive but 15 minutes. Our first visit was also a bit of a drag, however, we were with another couple so I didnt want to make a fuss. I dont get it? On our first visit my husband asked for a coffee, (after a few bottles of wine), and we were told we had to go next door to Starbucks? Really? We just spent over $500.00 on dinner and wine and were told to get our own coffee? This place is waaaay too expensive for crappy service-by the OWNER no less. We were never even offered any desert...This place is off the list for good!

Wineworks has great food and a pretty good wine selection. Their recommendations are almost always spot on, they have live music and the atmosphere is nice. It is also walking distance from my house. So why the two stars? A couple of reasons but what it really boils down to is snobbery. Twice my wife and I have arrived here early on a saturday (4:30 to 5:00 ish). The first of the two times we walked in and there was not a single patron inside, only staff. The hostess asked if we had reservations, to which we replied no. She informed us that they were booked and could not seat us but we could go to their sister restaurant next door. A little irked, we went next door and ate some not so good food and decent beer. When we walked out at 6 there were two couples seated at wineworks. The rest of the restaurant was EMPTY. So much for booked!!! A similar thing happened a couple of months later, arrived early, almost completely empty, was told they were booked. We said we just wanted appetizers and wine so the hostess relented to seating us. We stayed and had dinner and wine for a couple of hours. When we left the restaurant was still half empty. They think they are a much higher end establishment with much more demand than they are or have. Their wine selection is decent but nothing to write home about for the level of snobbery exuded by the front end staff. We take the drive to Uncorked now for the better food/wine/service.

Food was great and the wine was great but like other reviewers the service made you feel unwelcomed. Only two parties in the resteraunt ? Sit them right next to each other. Everyone have a full glass? Pour out half a bottle of wine into those glasses to try to either get the party to leave quicker or buy another bottle. Having a conversation? Waiter will interrupt you mid sentance. Seem unhappy about them pouring out your 50$ bottle of wine quickly? Well then you get to listen to passive aggressive remarks for the rest of the meal.

My wife and I have been here on many occasions. We find the meet and cheese selection to be good (has some of our favorites). Some of the stuffed appetizers are very tasty. The wine selection by the glass is nice and mixed up frequently. Theres a decent selection of wines by the bottle as well. The only thing I did not like is the bottle price for opening in the bar is more than the price to take home. I would like to see at least the same bottle price to drink there.

My friends and I enjoy tasting familiar and unfamiliar wines at this cosy family-owned wine-tasting bar and store. The greetings are always friendly and the service is always sincere. We learn as we go and always find something we like. From a glass of cold sparkling riesling with the crab cakes, to a desert wine with chocolate mousse, we can relax and try something that matches our taste and mood. They have beer too!

Food was great. However the Owner continues to come tell us directly that we had to leave cuz expecting more people. Despite the fact we still hadnt got our desert or brought us a bill, he still proceeded to say "we need you to leave". Completely ruined, what was, a great night. Probably wont go back to give him the business, plenty of good places in Newport or Laguna, no need to drive to Mission Viejo strip mall.

Great food, great service and an elegant but casual environment. The owner greets you with a smile and will often spend some time conversing providing that personal experience. My wife and I have been going here for years and we have never had a bad experience. The Dublin Pub next door, is also a great place, with a more simple menu.

Are you kidding me? I do not know why the others were not impressed. This place is great! Nice ambiance, wine, food, live music and very friendly staff. Wish they were more generous with their pouring though. They do charge too much for corkage fee.
