Food is good - from a flavor and taste perspective - no complaints there at all. I might go again if they change their ways - with respect to the following comments. The following issues are big, noteworthy and needs to change. Given the attitude of the chain as a whole (i have eaten in most of their restaurants in many countries) - i do not expect anything to change - specially given the crowd that throngs the place - but quality conscious customers might not go there again. Quality of meat is poor. There is hardly any meat in most dishes - unless you consider tripe and other less useful portions of the animal as meat at all. For the quality of meat that is available in our country at such affordable prices - the meat they serve is pretty pathetic. Portions are ultra small - specially for the money they charge. Without portions getting bigger - or prices being cut by a third or half - i am not sure how they can provide value for money. Ambience is good - though tables can be a little farther apart. Attitdue of the folks can go through some uplift as well.

Worst place people dont go there, the person on the reception is very rude and too busy to not to attend the customers. I love their food and visited them after few months today, wanted to orfer food to-go. After standing there at the reception in a non busy place (literally 4 tables were occupied), no one came to assist me. After ten minutes someone came and said "one minute" picked up the phone and went inside the kitchen. After 5 minutes came out"asked me what Do you want", I was about to order, he started talking to someone else. I politely asked "do you have time for my order as I am waiting here since last 15 minutes and no one even bothered to even look at me". Mr arrogant replied "I am here since last ten minutes I did not see you" I left as I think I was paying for the food and not asking him free food and asked for little curtsy which is too much to ask.

If you have been to Anjappar in Tamil Nadu and loved the taste there, NEVER EVER think about going to Anjappar, San Jose. The worst restaurant ever. Food is OKAY, NOT GREAT. There are many many many more restaurants that provides great food in less cost, with lots of quality and customer service. Customer Service is too bad. Out of all of the people working there, only one person managed to smile at us. We had an argument with the manager for around 10 minutes. It took us 5 minutes to get his sole attention to our complaints. And yeah, I told the manager to goto Anjappar in Tamil Nadu next time he visits India. Just so, he would know how they treat people and how worth visiting Anjappar is. I would have given negative stars if that was possible.

TERRIBLE SERVICE!! Dont go here, if you are looking for a pleasant evening. We went here on Monday night and the service was terrible. We had ordered a lot of dishes. and Out of them Two didnt arrive. When we inquired about it, they said it is not available. They said it is not available only when we inquired about it. Until then, they had no clue. We ordered dessert and it took 30 minutes to arrive. Also, I talked to the manager and she didnt even give us a discount. We had a bill over $100 and the least she could do was give us a discount for the very very very poor service which she didnt. I would advise not to go here if you are looking to have a nice evening out.

I had the vegetarian Thali (called "set meal" in their menu) for $10. The menu said it came with 3 vegetarian curries. When the meal arrived, there were almost no vegetables, only differently colored gravies that all tasted the same. They took their sweet time serving it as well. My friend who was with me wanted to walk out. Out of curiosity, I asked whether the non-veg thalis (which advertised "chicken gravy" and "fish gravy" in addition to the 3 veggies). The waiter told me there would be no chicken or fish pieces in it, just the gravy! Save your time and money - you can do much better at many other South Indian restaurants like Udipi, Saravana Bhavan, etc.

Authentic Chettinad food. This place specializes in (South) Indian Non-vegetarian (spicy) food (its a chain based out of Chennai). Being authentic Chettinad means the spice level is pretty high as it should be. They have exotic meats every now and then - there was deer meat yesterday, which was meh. But usually chicken, prawn, fish are all done right. Food was pretty good most of my visits. Portion sizes can tend to be small. It can get pretty crowded on weekends - which tends to affect the service (gets super slow on weekends). And parking can be a pain too on weekends as this complex has a lot of asian restaurants that attract the weekend crowd.

I hail from same place as this cuisine, and a global travel foodie who has above average understanding about my plate and expectations. This place is truly over rated, over blown, scam of a restaurant. Worth 1/3 rd the price charged. If i pay top dollars, then i need to see protein in my plate. Anyone one can easily throw in tonne of spices and make a bunch of rice and other cheap fillers, but Where the heck is my protein. Oh there it is, a small piece of bone. If you would like to Spend your hard earned money some place that offers delicious and filling amounts of protein, greens, herbs and spices. Skip it, or you in for regret, just as i did.

Service: Service is really bad ....takes lot of time to get the food ordered and delays even further for the next orders...staff doesnt pay attention to customers.... Food quality and taste: Been here couple of times....only few dishes taste good like dosa, veg.thali, tandoori rotis and always a hit and miss with the other dishes...be cautious while ordering dish from "todays special"...they didnt taste fresh and also the portions are inadequate with ridiculous pricing($15/dish)... Overall its not a satisfactory experience interms of taste , freshness, price and service.... Bottom line: Not worth it..

Halal meat is served here. Owners are Tamil Muslims. They have a wide variety of south and north Indian food here but the stuff I tried was pretty average tasting. I tried the masala dosa, paratha with chicken and the lamb biriyani. The best thing was the dosa. The paratha was okay but didnt have much chicken in it. I wanted to try the Ceylon chicken parota but it wasnt available when I was there (the server told us it would be available after 8pm). Will have to come back another time to try it. Service was friendly and the prices are reasonable.

The variety on the menu is great! And entire page of Dosa options, which Im slowly working my way through. Onion Masala Rava Dosa is a favorite of mine, the one here is excellent. Also really enjoyed the Mysore Masala Dosa and the Paneer Masala Dosa. Tons of awesome vegan and vegetarian options, quick service, and a good level of spiciness. If you are not a fan of "hot", be careful - the default level of spice is perfect for me, and my tastes run on the higher side of medium at most places.

The service is very pathetic, we were waiting for a table from last 45 mins and without calling our name he just striked off our name and started alloying tables for others. When we checked with the guy he started arguing with us saying he called our name. Wd are just sitting in front if the reveption and he thinks we are dumb. Not only the food, the good customer service will makes the customers to come to your restaurant very frequently.
