My family and close friends, have been visiting this location for over 10 years, in all that time, I had yet to meet the owner Michelle. My sister had reserved the room for her Annual Anniversary lunch. When I approached the desk I was not greeted nicely and I said I was here for the Reservation under my sisters name, but before I could say that I was not her and that I was here to see if they could put the surprise cake in freezer so I could run into the room to decorate. She started telling me about Cake fee for cutting the cake and that the cake was not noted on reservation and was angry at who ever I spoke to because they didnt tell me the price and I was fine paying the fee. No problem...... I was just taken back by her tone directed at me. and then she took the cake from my hands and set it down at the desk where everyone walks up to when checking in, and walked away from me. I quickly asked another server to see if he could move the cake from the area as my sister was walking up to the restaurant. I then quickly went to the room and... to see if I could start over with this person I thought was a server and I said, Im sorry could we start over, we come here all the time and it seems like we got off on the wrong foot and put out my hand to shake this persons hand. She says well I am the owner and I havent ever seen you in here before and I said oh nice to meet you, and then as I was trying to tell her about all the events we have at her restaurant she again walked away. Then my husband stepped in and tried to smooth down the situation with her as well. She left and didnt return which is great news because, at this point I was upset trying to decorate as quickly as I could, because I didnt not want this salty encounter to ruin my sister and her husbands day not to mention the family that was attending. The waitress was great and Bartender as usual were awesome as all of the Staff are!! When they brought out the cake I clearly saw that she didnt put the ice cream cake in the freezer as I had asked. It quickly melted and was then difficult to serve, but we managed. I again didnt want to upset anyone about why the cake wasnt placed in the freezer. :( and I didnt say anything to our server either, figured it wasnt worth getting more upset over. I Guess Michelle she showed me,,, right .. wrong... Wow!! Im thinking its been fortunate for us that in all the years we have celebrated Husbands, Mothers, sons, daughters and my Birthdays, Anniversarys, and Tower District Car Shows were all spent at this establishment we had never met the owner. Since meeting the owner and being treated as if my patronage doesnt matter nor does my families special occasion rituals, and that being a human being or treated like one doesnt matter to her, I will no longer visit this establishment for any reason. Very disappointed. Now on the search for a new special place for me, family and friends.

Food is good and they have a great selection of beer. However, the owner is rude! When I showed her that my salmon that i cut into was still raw on the inside, rather than grilling a new piece or discounting the plate (remove the fish) she wanted to microwave my fish. She brought a plate frantically scraped the fish from my plate, and "itemized" the bill. The cost was identical to the original price with the salmon. Sadly, this was just an error that happens to all cook and chefs. But how she handled it was sophomoric, unprofessional and how she treated staff other customers is unprofessional. Even the waitress apologized for their bosses behavior. I have not returned since.

I doubt if Ill ever go again. The beer is good, the prices are great for drinks - a little high for a pub meal but reasonable - and the food and appetizers are rather tasty. However, food is usually slow, and twice now Ive had a meal overcharged, by two different servers. (First my fiancees, later mine - mine was by a guy named Manuel, who apparently wasnt satisfied with the 15%.) The only time Ive been in since is when a friend wanted to hang out there. The manager I spoke to didnt seem to care. If you do go, keep your receipt and check your credit card statement for irregularity, or just pay in cash to keep them honest.

Stopped in to hear one of my fav. local bands and order some drinks, since we had eaten already. We were gawked at by this VERY rude woman, which later turned out to be the owner, several times as well as pointed at. I asked one of the waitress if maybe we had said something wrong or anything to upset her. The waitress answer was "shes the crazy old lady that owns the place, dont worry she makes us uncomfortable too." we were later asked to leave because; "this is a resturaunt and you need to order FOOD." (mind you this was a thurs. night and no wait) Bottom Line is food is bad, and so is the hospitality.

The food is good and the brews are magnificent! I rarely deviate from the Redhop(which I highly recommend), but you cant really go wrong with the rest. They also usually have some brews from Tioga Sequoia (downtown Fresno brewery and bottling operation). The atmosphere is chill and the regulars are fun to hang with. Dont take a chair on the bar if you dont get a drink. I think thats bad etiquette or something. Congrats on the 17 years and heres to a hundred more!

I try not to be too negative, but I also have an obligation to be honest. I was in a party of five people, and of the five adults, three of us felt our food items were sub par. The beer is terrific, however. But, the place is quite noisy (not uncommon in restaurants, so cant get too upset about that). If you want a bar with a "happening" cool cat type of environment, then this place is fine. I simply cannot recommend the food.

Not impressed by this location (but love the one in north Fresno). Server didnt know what herbal tea was, didnt ask me what side I wanted (and I ended up getting something I didnt want), the side salad was visibly brown and wilted, and main dishes were bland and cold. My husband and I both ordered what we usually do at the north Fresno location - but it was like we were in a different restaurant altogether. Too bad.

This is hands down the rudest establishment in Fresno. Their food quality is awful in comparison with the original Butterfields. Their wait staff is slow, inefficient and so rude that you assume they have a trust fund and therefore dont need tips. And forget about using the bathroom before you sit down, youll be promply informed that theyre for customers only. Of which Ill never be again in that establishment.

This was a great place to meet friends, enjoy a beer sampling or a just sip on cold favorite! I had a spicy shrimp taco and fried pickles for the table, all were tasty and the service was both knowledgeable and prompt! Our waiter even remembered what beer I ordered when I forgot the name, but wanted another (dont judge! LOL). Nice atmosphere, good service, cold brews and cool air = a mighty fine place to be!
