This is, by far, the worst BBQ Ive had. Its usually tough and the flavor is non existent. Ive had the best in Memphis, Texas and Kansas. This place doesnt come close to even good BBQ. They like to push their dirty tots. Tater tots with flavorless pulled pork and cheese. How can you mess up that? They do. Many places serve the same dish but this one is always lacking flavor. Ive been to this place a number of times, as its the closest place to me to get a beer and I always struggle to choose what to eat only because its like playing Russian roulette. So I go for the safe bet and choose the chicken wings. 9 times out of 10 they are underdone. Ive literally given up on their food. They serve a decent pint. You cant really mess that up, can you? The service is normally ok but I was recently abused in front of other patrons and staff members. Shouted at by the bar tender called Ariel. From the moment I entered the establishment she treated me in a disdainful manner. She got my food order wrong and seemed to blame me for it. She brought out the habitual underdone chicken wings (why cant they ever get that right?) after which she proceeded to belittle me. I, in absolutely no way instigated her abhorrent behavior towards me and I found myself being defensive. I actually would like an apology from the management from this establishment, however that is probably unlikely. Therefore, I will do what I can to drive people to the other establishments in the local area where the patrons are treated with respect.

Service was terrible. I order a hamburger well done/no pink. I also asked for it to not have BBQ sauce on it. When it came out it was rare and had BBQ sauce on it. I asked if they would take off the BBQ sauce (with no need to get me a new burger). So, they took it, cleaned the BBQ sauce off and brought it back to me. Then I bit into it and it was so rare that it had red liquid come from it. The most frustrating thing about that is that the server (or anyone for the matter) never came to check on if the food was OK or not. Further, I asked about their beers. Someone brought over 3 samples for me to pick from. After I sampled them and selected one, a server never came back to take my order. Again, the service there is terrible. Food is only ok. I give it two stars instead of one because the atmosphere is inviting due to the fireplace near the dinning area.

The first time I came here was about 6 months ago for a diner in experience. The dinning area was empty, but the bar was full. That should have been my first warning about the food. I ordered the Shepards pie with cauliflower mash. My first bite was my last. The taste was horrifying. Tasted like cracked pepper and rosemary. I couldnt drink enough water to get that horrible taste or if my mouth. The 2nd time: The Mac and cheese app was bland, the only thing that has flavor was the jalapeno. The penne looked like it was bathing in the cream sauce. Since my order from here was to go, I never got to taste the ribs because they have me the wrong order. Needless to say, I want happy when I got home and opened up the container to find something resembling a milky shrimp wrap.

My last official visit as a Google Guide was seven months ago. Today, July 1, 2017, is a very special day for Smokey Oaks Tavern, its hundreds of customers and for all of neighboring Fair Oaks and Gold River residents. Saturday morning at 8:00 AM, Smokey Oaks Tavern begins serving breakfast. Ive seen the breakfast menu. It can best be described as Sausalito meets the Disneyland Hotel, meets Fair Oaks. The kitchen is busy, Schuyler is busy straigtenting up the dining room. Those who have had a peek at the menu will be there. While this morning may be a "soft opening" for kitchen staff, servers and the regulars, its clear that Smokey Oaks Tavern has done well and plans on doing more to meet the needs of its customers. Let Saturday breakfast at Smokey Oaks Tavern begin.

Ive been twice in the past two weeks and really enjoyed both visits. So far, Ive had the shrimp po boy and the burger. Both were amazing! I sat at the bar once and at a table the other time. Got great service both times. Cant wait for my next trip here to try another delicious dish! I almost forgot to mention the beer selection. I would be doing this place a disservice by not talking about the awesome brews on tap. They change the beers as a keg runs out so the selection is always changing. Its all great beer and pairs well with the variety of appetizers and entrées.

We had dinner 2 weeks ago. There were 4 in our party. Three out of 4 dinners were inedible! Chicken soup was way too salty. Ribs were dry and way to salty to eat. Maybe their regular cook was off that night. Our waitress listened and removed our uneaten dinners but did not offer to let us try another menu item. And most insulting, was, they charged us full price. We left with the impression they must be in trouble. We would like to see them succeed, but their food was terrible.

The service was welcoming and efficient. The dining room very comfortable, its great to be near a fireplace with all this rainy weather. Very noisy though. My dining companions tri-tip entrée looked delicious. I wasnt very hungry, unfortunately, because there were a lot of good things on the menu. I ordered the soup of the day--Spicy Tomato Basil--and a Caesar salad. Both were very good. I look forward to coming back with a bigger appetite so I can try the burger.

Fabulous experiences here! The Staff is friendly and attentive, helping to find Gluten-Free options for those of us in need. The menu is Farm-to-table and always has new itmes to enjoy, along with consistent items. Cozy bar and the dining rooms are have a great ambience for conversation! Highly recommend eating here!

Food was average in my opinion. Not a very bid selection of craft beer or wine. Most of the beers were IPAs, which my husband and I do not like. The house wine was good and only $4! Noisy atmosphere due to the bar and partitions between it and the restaurant. Service was good and timely.

Just had the best Shrimp Po Boy ever. The Mighty Tavern is now the Smokey Oaks Tavern and it is delicious! Under new management and both Neil and Blaine couldnt have been more gracious. Cant wait to sample the beers when I dont have to return to work.... Maybe tonight!

First timer. It was ok. The food was ordinary, potatoes cold and over priced. Cannot carry a conversation. Too loud. The way it is set up, everyones conversation get muddled because there is nothing breaking up the sound. Might as well be a cafeteria.
