I love this place. It is my favorite restaurant. Sushi is my favorite food. Mikuni is top 2 of all sushi I have ever had. If I ever get to choose my last meal it will be Pimp My Roll. I do not give a one star for the food. The food is excellent. I do not give a one star for the staff, they are friendly and knowledgeable. I do not give a one star for the ambiance, the place is designed well. I give a one star for the manager tonight. This is my families number one restaurant. This is where we all want to go. This is where we take friends and guests from out of town. We went in tonight and it was busy. The lovely hostesses told us so. Our expectations were set. There was a large party and lots of to go food going out. Our server was great. We gave him our order and asked to rush the kids food out. He did. They ate. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. Tons of to go orders. He checked multiple times. No sushi. Finally after an hour, it was time to go. I went up to the front to go area. I was standing next to our server as he explained the situation to the manager. He just removed our dinner from the check and continued working on the to go orders. The server was apologetic and offered to chase him down to comp something from our check. I said it was alright and we headed out. I was standing right next to the manager, I used to be a restaurant manager, he didnt even acknowledge the bad experience. Just removed the items and kept packing up the to go orders. Even in Titanic Rose pretended to care as she let Jack slide off the raft into the Arctic water. There was space on the raft. But this guy. It was like I was Jack clinging on for Sushi, and he just walks over, stares at me in the eye and says no sushi for you. Then steps on my hand crushing my fingers back and forth like he is extinguishing a cigarette, watching me slip away into the abyss. Every other time we have been there, it has been great. Anyway, Ill be back, but tonight sucked. Kids had a great dinner and I had a peanut butter sandwich.

I love sushi and I have been to Mikunis in Rancho Cordova and in Sacramento. However, this restaurant is far from par. The fish was old and dried out, the service was terrible, and any fried food was overcooked and overcoated. This is far from what I expected out of this restaurant because the other two are amazing! I spent $57 on three rolls and sushimi. My son and I ended up with diarrhea the next day. Keep in mind this is recent, May 16, 2017. Dont go to this Mikuni on Eureka Rd. Our waiter was more concerned with hanging out and talking to the other waiters/waitresses and chefs. I am deeply disappointed and would never recommend this Mikunis to anyone. I would have spoke to a manager, however, I needed to return to the hospital. Have low expectations if you eat at this location. Highly disappointing!

i think I’ve lost my pallet for sushi, it’s all starting to taste the same. i will say this, Mikunis was the first here in Sac to really bring the trend to a reality, with rolls like "pimp my roll" and names that you just can’t get enough of. I’m sure the food is fresh and all but with the economy today, it’s hard for me to "stomach" the prices that they have to offer, in comparison to many places that now have “50% off rolls” menus. Sorry mikuni, you either compete with prices or REALLY awaken my pallet with something that will keep me a loyal customer, or I’m walking away ARIGATO GOZAIMASU

We have been Mikunis customers since 2005. We went to dinner last night and were served rotten salmon sashimi. We sent it back. They took it off our bill, and made little comment about it. This happened once before at Mikunis in downtown Sacramento, however, they provided a replacement plate, took it off our bill, and apologised profusely. We will think twice about going to Mikunis again. I feel sorry for the people who ordered salmon mixed in with their rolls.

I believe the mystique of Mikunis is completely unwarranted. This service tends to be fairly slow, the fish is no fresher then other local restaurants, and is far more expensive. The rolls are small and very uneventful- not creative at all. I actually never had a bad experience here buts its very expensive and really isnt all that great. Stop drinking the cool-aide people, save yourself $50, and go elsewhere.

While we dont always go here for Japanese, I would say its probably the best in the area. The quality is high, the menu has a good selection (including a dedicated gluten free menu for my wife) and the service is solid. The few times there has been a delay or problem they have promptly corrected it. This place can get very crowded on the weekend, so we generally go early.

Excellent food and sushi. The freshest around. 3pm-5pm is happy hour every day. Im not a drinker, so I cant speak for the drinks but the food is an excellent price. Its also a good time to try something new without too much cost or waste. The staff is so friendly. The environment is clean and unique. Its visually compelling while you wait.

The food is AMAZING. Staff is always very friendly and very personable. The only bad thing is the Ramen, as it is very one note, but they took it off of our bill because we werent satisfied. EVERYTHING ELSE is to die for. The Flaming Shrooms are the best and you should ask for them cut in half because you can eat them a lot easier.

The place is so fun & loud, no one will hear your little ones joining in the ruckus. Plus, the food comes quick. And if there is a wait (the place is very popular), the Aquarium can entertain the little ones. The sushi is outstanding. There is a long list of excellent rolls with yummy sauces; our favorite is the BMW roll.

Outstanding customer service with a bright smile everytime. Food is exceptionally well made, reminded me of being back in Japan. Official Japanese greeting is a little overdone by a couple of the chefs, but all in all it is not distracting that much. Still a great environment to be at for dinner or to watch a game.

The food at Mikuni is good but the service leaves a bad taste in your mouth! A group of ten or twelve of us went out to lunch at Mikuni on a Thursday and the folks that order bento boxes got their food no less than 20 minutes before the folks who ordered sushi from the lunch menu. Very poor service!

Best sushi ever - I love their crazy and inventive rolls. Also the whole staff is really nice, especially our favorite food server Monica. Shes super sweet and funny and we always ask for her when we are in. The atmosphere is fun and funky and lively, its a good place to start or end a night out.
