My son 19 months old and I came for some breakfast As We were sitting in a front booth. Their busboy advised the waitress to sit us in the last booth so we followed her. If i had known it was next to the restrooms i would of said NO.. But this is the first time going here. We sat and ordered their breakfast special of the day diced ham and egg with hash brown. I asked if i can substitute the hash browns for fries. She said "sure there is no problem". (I have a toddler, they like finger food so i thought ham and fries will be his breakfast). As we were waiting a few clients passes to enter the restroom. But as they started to have a line. A lady decides to sit on our booth to wait for the restroom. but she asked and started conversing with us. you can tell my son enjoyed her company and was laughing. A few minutes after another lady sits again. Without asking and she is on her phone and never even apologize for intruding on my booth. My son was sitting next to me there was an open seat in front of us. That doesnt mean its an open invitation on my table. Well we finally got our order and they bring me ham and egg with hash brown. Im thinking (NOOOO IM GOING TO WAIT LONGER FOR THE FOOD) Now Im trying everything to keep my son entertained. I mentioned it to the waitress and she responds (we ran out of fries im sorry. ) now Im thinking what is my son going to eat? He doesnt like egg and i have tried giving him hash brown before and not successful in eating it.. Then the waitress tells me but we do have French fries if you want... Im like WHAT, ISNT FRIES AND FRENCH FRIES THE SAME THING!!!!.. ..... She tells me "no fries are the thick stake fries opposed to french fries are the skinny long ones"..wth.. Omg. OMG i just needed finger food for my toddled.. She brings me a plate of FRENCH FRIES in substitution of the hash brown. I thought thats what i had asked in the first place. My son was a happy camper with his fries and ham. Food was tasty. Yes we would go again but next time not sitting in the back booth.

If you go dont sit outside, they forget about you. I very rarely rate one star. I saw this restaurant listing in a veteran owned website I use for my own company and wanted to support a fellow vet. I asked to be seated outside and they told me I could seat myself, great because I found some in shade. The table next to me had an elderly woman in a wheel chair and a middle aged couple who were complaining that they had been there 15 minutes and hasnt seen a waiter. The elderly woman looked like she was in her 90s and was saying she really needed water. I got up and told the staff who approached their table within 2 minutes. They went back inside served their drinks and still didnt cone to my table. I waited patiently 15 mins but the tables inside (which were sat after me) already started receiving their food. I went inside and told them it was really hot outside and I hadnt seem a server to order a drink. I got an oh ok, and she walked away. Another 5 minutes passes and I order my drink and food at the same time. Chicken or turkey sandwich was very dry and bread was soggy, falling apart, from sitting in pickle juice. I never was given a refill on water. No one checked on me to see if I needed a refill, or if food was ok (I didnt eat it), and after 25 mins I never was asked for a box or received the check. I went inside again told them that the table next to me was waiting on their check and refills then, paid and left.

This place is fine... if you are white. Any other ethnicity and youll find yourself in the extra room behind the main front dining area. I had this experience three times even though the front area had plenty of seating available. After an event at the village, my sons best friend (who happens to be white) really wanted to go here and was begging us all to go. I told his parents about our past experiences. They couldnt believe what I was saying because they being white never experienced modern day prejudices. I told them to pay attention when we walked in. We walk in, they ask us how many, we answer, wait for a few seconds before that same lady asks us if we could wait outside because we were in the way. WTF? This story is long so Ill cut it down. The end result is, our friends no longer go to this establishment do to what they witnessed that night. As far the food, its pretty plain. Had the clam chowder.

DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THESE RACIAL COMMENTS. My mother just so happens to work here and is BLACK and the whole staff is composed of different ethnicity. Every time I go in there for food I see nothing but kindness and friendliness coming from the waitresses. Also when I go in I NEVER see any person of color sitting in the back hidden or anything of that nature. Come in for yourself and you will see. There was probably no room or seats left and the provided the person with that only open seat. Do not use race for a cop out. This place has been here for years and is very friendly. As for the homeless guy it is sad but I always hear about trouble and discomfort some of them cause on customers sitting outside so maybe they did not want to encourage it I dont know. But this place is not bad.

Ive been going here for YEARS. They are a cute 50s diner in the Claremont Village and honestly, if you have ever dined anywhere in the Claremont Village you would see the Village Grill is the most affordable. They have great portions for their prices, which arent very pricy at all. They have great service and classical foods. I am pretty sure they do NOT have any entrees gluten free other than their salads and their fries (and their other sides). They have booths fit for no more than 4 people. If you are coming in a huge number, they have a banquette room on the side. The AC is still good their and they still have fast enough service. I highly recommend you give it a try!

I would give them a 0 if possible. I was eating here one day and the service wasnt great but nothing to really complain about either. But after I paid my tab and left I was approached by a homeless man asking if I had any left overs he could have, I told him I would buy him a hamburger and fries if he wanted that. He accepted and I went back inside. When I asked for a to-go order the woman behind the counter asked if it was for the man outside and I told her yes (not thinking much of it). She then refused to sell the meal. She told me they didnt want to contribute to this man being in Claremont and that I shouldnt either. I was shocked and I will NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN.
