Do-over! The owners of Café 86 took over the former location of Milk & Honey, opening a few months ago as The Spot. The Spot had the menu of Café 86, along with rice bowls, popcorn chicken & other savory goods. Seeing how customers were mainly interested in the Café 86 items, the owners saw how the wind was blowing and closed The Spot for renovations. Rechristening as their new Café 86 branch in Artesia, I was lucky enough to be first in line for their Soft Opening. Café 86 specializes in ube overload! Pastries & drinks with ube as the showrunner are what Café 86 is known for. Dont know what ube is? Its purple yam, popular amongst the Filipino community. Free hibiscus calamansi cooler- This drink hits the spot. Hibiscus & calamansi (a variety of citrus. Calamondin is the English name), pair well together. A little sour, a little sweet. Quite refreshing on a hot day. Ube leche flan cupcake- Sinfully decadent, its an ube cupcake topped with leche flan. And, this isnt that cheap watery instant leche flan No, sir! This is the thick, creamy stuff that your mom & dad made, if you were lucky enough to have a mom & dad who made authentic leche flan like I did. The cupcake was moist & fluffy. I think it would be even better if the cupcake had whipped crème in the middle, like the ube cake sold at various Filipino bakeries, such as Red Ribbon & Goldilocks. Nevertheless, its really good! Ube Monster Cake truffle- Now this was the piece de resistance! A crunchy cookie shell, covering an ooey gooey ube interior, the ube monster cake truffle was perfection in my eyes. Each bite a symphony of the senses. Some complain they cant taste ube in ube products sold at other places. Well, I can genuinely say Café 86s ube monster cake truffle permeates with the taste of ube. My diet and waistline thanks me for ony getting one, as I couldve polished off a picnic basket full of these bad boys. Café 86 serves espresso, lattes, milk shakes, various tea, hot drinks, pastries & dessert, all with a Filipino twist. Looking for something savory? Theyve got you covered, too! Grilled cheese, turkey pesto, sriracha chicken, longanisa flat bread & pastrami sandwiches are awaiting customers to select from. Service was good. The co-owner, Ginger, took care of me. I thought it was 50% off everything for their Soft Opening, but alas, the offer only applied for the drinks. Seating is via a couple of couches, a few tables & bar seating by the entrance. Parking is in a private lot at the Fresh Catch Supermarket plaza. Café 86 is located on the left of Luisa & Sons Bakeshop. Café 86 is a welcome addition to my neighborhood! The pastries are very well done. But beware, they sell out daily, so make sure to come early or order ahead of time, if possible. The café is a welcoming environment to enjoy a cold and/or hot drink, along with a pastry or five. I have designs to try the ube tres leches and the ube crack cheesecake upon my next visit. And, there shall be a next visit soon. Oh yes, there shall! Highly recommend! NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM

Summary: TERRIBLE service I would recommend driving to Pasadena. First off - i love Cafe 86 in Pasadena. We always make a trip on Saturdays to get the Ube Truffles. So when our family heard they opened one in Artesia we were so excited as it is much closer to us. I always call ahead to ask if there are truffles left as we only really go for the truffles. Last Saturday we called the number on Google and it didnt even ring. I thought it would be okay as the Pasadena location usually had truffles left around that time. We drove all the way to Artesia through the 91 traffic (we all know how horrible it can be) and when we finally get to Cafe 86 they didnt have any food in the glass food display. We asked if they had any more truffles and the cashier said, "Oh no we dont we already ran out. You should have called us first." How irritating! We DID call first! Nobody picked up!! And then he told me the number to call and the one on google was correct. So what is the point of having a phone if you will not answer your customers? The manager then told me the number is directed to their cell phones (how is that a good excuse?) And then gave me her number to call as well. She also said we could order online or through some app for pickup. Now, today I called the number 3 times. It rings and then eventually goes to voice mail. I spaced out the calls as well. I waited inbetween just in case maybe they were busy at the time. Im not surprised they didnt answer any calls again. We will be making our trip to Pasadena and not bother with the Artesia staff.

The product itself its great and the drinks are alright. But the staff sometimes its great service and sometimes its not. My previous trip the cashier was amazing really friendly. But this recent one a few of the girls were really stand offish. Not rude or anything but not exactly friendly either. I was in and out of there for the most part.

This place is like a hidden gem. I LOVE it, my sisters and I always go there. I wish they could open one in Anaheim!! The staff is always so friendly. I highly recommend the Ube Milkshakes, Ube Cheesecake AND the flan Ube cupcakes! Yummy!!

Cute cafe in a plaza that has plenty of free parking, love trying out their different dessert specials . They also have a good selection of drinks to choose from . Cant wait to try more of their items .

Great average normal (nothing bad) cafe place. Cant go wrong with any order. Amongst my friends and myself, we got the Ube Monster, Peach Mango Iced Tea, and Thai Milk Tea Boba. All good.

Good place for all things ube. Try the ube flan cupcake! Their jasmine calamansi tea is really good. <3 Hibiscus cooler is sweeter than the jasmine calamansi, but still good.
