We were visiting the parks and decided to try the character dining experience for this one. We did the breakfast option. Because we were visiting the park, we were staying near one of the hotels around the park. To access the restaurant you could walk through the lobby, the Downtown Disney, or DCA entrance. We were dropped off at the hotel and went through the lobby. It is great just to walk through the hotel itself and go to the restaurant from there. It is a nice little walk. You feel that you are part of one of the guests staying there. Entering the restaurant, you get checked in as normal by a very nice cast member. This place does require reservations and our wait time was about 5 minutes before they sat us down. Our waiter came right away and was very friendly. He was on top of things right away. He never missed a beat. While you are eating, some of the characters come to each table and mingle with the guests. The character varied, some I did not know but they were mostly the woodsy, for lack of a better word, kind of characters. Chip n Dale, the racoon from Pocahontas and some other bears were there. The food is buffet style for lunch. The quality of this food was as though you were eating at a sit down restaurant. There were so many option. There were Mickey pancakes, fresh fruit, waffles, and my favorite of all, the green Mexican chilaquiles. They were just delicious. I am not a fan of eating breakfast at a restaurant, let alone a buffet, but I was so impressed with the food. They had other gourmet looking food with eggs that I did not get a chance to eat but could tell, they looked great. Prices are what you would expect from a Disney character dining experience. I believe, we paid about $45 for each adult but was worth it.

We had made reservations several months prior to our visit on November 3, 2013. We arrived at the restaurant on time at 9am. We had to wait until 9:30am to be seated. They shoved us into a space much too small and cramped for our party of 10. My seat was against the window and two people had to stand up and push in their chairs for me to get by. Yes 10 people is a large group, but they had plenty of time to prepare for us. The buffet was arranged poorly. The food was cold. Yes, cold. There were not the types and numbers of delicious breakfast foods I envisioned for our per person price of $43. I have a friend who had the exact same experience. While this restaurant is phenomenal for lunch I have heard, I would not waste my time or money to go again for their breakfast buffet. Not the Grand Californian, or Disney experience I expected.

Character breakfast here was fantastic. The buffet was AWESOME, including eggs benedict, salmon, fresh fruit, omelettes made to order, and of course Mickey waffles! Juice is included in the price, and the cast members are very diligent in refilling and checking on guests. Everyone in our party was over the age of 18 and we had a blast. There are the perfect amount of characters to meet: Chip and Dale, Pluto, and Kenai from Brother Bear. Four was great because there was never a dull moment but we still had time to eat and enjoy breakfast. The Plaza Inn can be overwhelming with how many characters there are and it can be tough to find time to eat! The ambiance was super and they really take the storyteller theme seriously. All around, this was the perfect experience and I look forward to visiting in my next trips to the parks!

We have eaten here a couple times. Our waitress was Yoko, again. It will be the last time, for if we go again and get her I will be asking for another waitress. First we were seated for about 15 minutes before she acknowledged us, and the restaurant was only about half full and preparing to close. We placed out drink order and opted for the buffet. We visited the buffet and returned to the table. Drinks were not there yet, rolls not there yet. This poor service continued throughout the evening. For the most part the food was less than satisfactory. The Beef Burgundy was tough and dry, most of the other selections were poor. Cassandra was the saving grace for the evening. She cheerful, friendly and her overall demeanor was the epitome of the ideal Disney Cast Member.

We had an unpleasant experience in this restaurant. We ordered buffet for the kids and entrees for ourselves. When we tried some food that our kids did not want from their buffets, the waiter came running to tell us that we cant do it. Hello??? You should have told us in advance! And they had the nerve to tell us that they have cameras all over the place that they use to spy on the customers. Hello???? You have to tell customers that they are being watched on camera! The buffet was overpriced and nothing special. Our younger ended up eating our entrees because he couldnt eat what he got in his buffet. But we could not eat from his plate?! First time we met with something like this. I would give them zero stars if I could. Will never go there again.

Storytellers Cafe (for the dinner buffet) is one of the better Disney restaurants around. Coming in, youll pay about $30+ for the buffet (I believe they also have a regular menu). The food is pretty solid all-around with lots of meats, pasta and salad along with a variety of desserts. Servers are fairly prompt and the whole atmosphere is very relaxing. Theres also some celebrity sightings such as a few of the cast members from Modern Family that we saw the few times we went. The location itself is beautiful - looking like a cozy cabin and inside the beautiful Grand California (Disney) Hotel. Its worth coming just to walk through the hotel itself. Again, the Cafe is a more expensive adventure but worth it for Disney/food fans.

Nice looking place but the food is nothing special and its overpriced. We went during a busy Friday evening. They said the wait would be 30 minutes but we ended waiting almost an hour. The waitress took about 5-6 minutes to acknowledge us after we were seated. My drink remained empty for long periods of time during the time we were eating. I had the buffet which is nothing special and there are not many food choices. The kids had pizza off the kids menu and they didnt/wouldnt eat it. I tried it and it tasted like a microwave pizza. Overall we probably wont go back. If you try this restaurant I recommend you make reservations or you may be waiting for a while.
