Frankly, neither my husband nor I could understand the rave reviews as this place was pretty much the suck. The sweet potatoes fries were incredibly greasy and limp with an odd taste, pretty much inedible. The dipping sauce was also not very good. My chicken salad was acceptable, but nothing special pretty much on par with Kroger but at a much higher price. The dressing was also nothing special. My husbands 1/3 pound burger was also way over-priced for what he got. The meat was good a was the bun but they were incredibly stingy with the cheddar. Edible but hardly worth 8 dollars. Now Big Orange... THEY KNOW HOW TO MAKE A GREAT BURGER! Were all about supporting local business especially one that also supports local businesses. But the food ranged from marginal to inedible. Needless to say, we wont be back.

My girlfriend and I ate here recently. The food is undoubtedly delicious, high-quality, and fresh; however, we felt that the portion sizes were incredibly small for the price. Keep in mind we ate here for dinner. Lunch prices were cheaper. Our dishes were each $15.00, and they came with no sides, salad, or complimentary bread. Our appetizer was only $4.00, but we got ONE empanada. I didnt mind the portions had the prices been reasonable. The restaurant looks so casual and laid-back, yet the portions are what youd imagine at fancy 5-star places. My last suggestion is that the menu be more readable. It took our young, able eyes a minute to read the font for some items, so older people would surely have trouble. Great local food, but I would make some changes.

Amazing lunch-time fare. As much as is possible, every single item in the restaurant is sourced from within Arkansas borders. Great vegetarian and vegan options, but amazing local meats as well. The burger and the curried chicken salad sandwich were fresh and incredible. The bread is made fresh daily in Little Rock. There are a few gluten free options for those who desire or need them. If you want a sweet beverage with your meal, try one of their imported Mexican sodas, made with sugar instead of corn syrup. The interior is cozy, with small, close tables, mismatched plates and tableware and rustic decor. The shaded porch is a great option for a sunny day, and there are patio tables in the grass next to the building.

We came to the cafe based of the unusually high reviews. Admittedly we were a bit skeptical of such high reviews and thought they might have been a bit boosted by friends or employees. On arrival we were very intrigued by the setting...a covered porch with tables, a grassy yard with covered tables and former drive up building. The staff and atmosphere was very simple, hippie like (we are much old er than the crew) and we loved it! Serving local naturally grown/raised foods that were simply OUTSTANDING and staff was super friendly. Food came quick and is cooked to order. Or order was cooked perfectly and we now know that the reviews were in fact, spot on! Kudos to the Root Cafe!

My husband found this little jewel on Trip Advisor for me as he noticed they had vegan options! I had their fried green tomatoes prepared vegan style with a vegan sauce and their fried tofu sandwich. The pickled carrots, cilantro and hoisin & srirache sauce on it made it delicious! If you are vegan you should love this place. They had other options such as delicious looking salads and a shiitake mushroom sandwich! My carnivore husband had a great ham and cheese sandwich and fries! The restaurant also prides itself on using local farming! I would definitely go back here when back in Little Rock! Nancy Hart

Love this place! We now live out of state, but recently had our wedding in Little Rock. The Root was able to cater our wedding and they couldnt have been more wonderful to work with!! They made the entire process of picking out a menu and coordinating the site visit, delivery, set up and tear down so incredibly easy! They did an outstanding job during the wedding! The food was local, unique and above all tasted great! Our guests are still talking about how wonderful the food was! Thank you Jack and the rest of The Root crew for helping to make our day even more special!

I just ate here first time and it was amazing. I got the deviled egg salad. Usually on my salads I have to soak it in dressing to drowned out the taste but this one I hardly even added any of the dressing. the dressing served with it was amazing too again I only used about half of one of the cups it came in. About a 15-20 min wait but was worth it, I got mine to go since I went on my work lunch break. I will definitely be back. the atmosphere is cool too, very hippie feel which isnt really my thing but I only went for the food anyways.

The wait at noon was long, but the food delicious and the place welcoming. The owners speak of building community through food and they seem to mean its. I had the Dantes Inferno burger which was yummy - but the jalapeño marmalade really is quite spicy. The blackberry and ginger lemonades were lovely, although the ginger got a bit too sweet at the end. The place was packed, and some people would even order food and still be waiting for tables. Note that only some of the tables are near an a/c unit so temperatures vary.

Came for breakfast and the food is good, but served different from the "normal" versions of the same fare. Husband got the breakfast Bhan mi with sausage, and it wasnt a sandwich... That one definitely would have been better in sandwich version, especially if the fried egg had been warm. Eggs Benedict was not on a biscuit or muffin, but served with small pieces of bread. Still tasted good! I do love that they serve local and organic where they can, and would think that lunch is even better than breakfast

Stopped here while travelling from Ohio to Dallas. Was recommended by my Airbnb host Katie. Had the veggie omelette which came with a side of spring greens salad. It was very good and I especially liked the dressing on salad. Coffee and omelette very good too. Spotted a fig tree with lots of ripe figs on far end of parking lot. It is a small place with nice watercolor drawings decorating the walls, old time table and chairs, chandeliers. Love that the food is from local farms.

Good food and i appreciate that they have sarsaparilla which no one ever has. However, the food portions are skinny-hippie-sized and left me wanting to get a fast food burger on the way home. The drinks are nice but about a dollar overpriced and the food is overpriced for the amount you get. But the killer is the uber-hippie atmosphere. I like hipsters, im probably 20% hipster myself, but i cant stand this hippie music and atmosphere.
