When I went into Restaurant Mexico, I was expecting some overrated basic mexican food, but wow was I wrong. From the very moment we walked in the employees were nothing but nice. Fast service right when we walked in. It was about 6 p.m. on a friday night, but we got a table right away. Very busy but still got great service. As we sat down my family and I scanned the menu hoping for real authentic mexican food. The more we looked over the menu we realized that this was an authentic mexican restaurant that has been located on Mill Ave. for over 20 years. We’re very picky when it comes to mexican food because we grew up eating it since we lived in California. The chips and salsa arrived instantly and was amazing. We got our food and it was everything we hoped for. Great flavor and great quality. The plates came with so much food, I was not expecting that. For the amount of food and flavor you get, it is beyond worth the price. Not expensive at all for the real food you get. I definitely suggest checking this restaurant out. You will love it just like I did.

Got there around 11:30a on a Friday. Wasnt very busy but still there was a several minute wait to be seated, then it took awhile to get drink orders in. Chips were cold and industrial, salsa was weirdly sweet (we were thinking "canned corn"?) and not tasty. After ordering, though, food delivery was very prompt. Others who had enchiladas said the red sauce was bad, but the green much better. I had the carne asada burro which was pretty good: beans and rice on the side were as expected. At the end, a very long wait for the check. Came out to $13/person (for 5). Perhaps better than the blandness of Rositas (Hardy and University), but Mucho Gusto is much better (if less traditionally Mexican in nature). Would not go again.

It started with the friday special, chile relenos, and I have been hooked since. I have been going to Restaurant Mexico for 11 years and though I have moved to north Phoenix (Happy Valley Road), I still make time to visit every couple months. Its worth it because of the food and family owned atmosphere. I cant say enough about it. I should be their spokes person. I love the food because it is unlike anywhere else I have been. It is "lite" with bold flavor. NOT just a plate full of red sauce and melted cheese like most mexican restaurants. Its perfect portions many fantastic flavors. I recommend it to anyone who craves good food in Tempe. Must go!

I LOVE this place. The food is not the heavy stuff you expect from a place like Macayos or Garcias and they use authentic cheese and ingredients (not cheddar), so you have to make sure you come with an open mind. The service is so fast that your food is on your table barely after you finish ordering it. And its so tasty and inexpensive. They also have great vegetarian options. I always get the #3 Enchilada Dinner with tomatillo sauce and rice, but Ive heard the Claire Burros are pretty famously good if you like beans. The salsa is great, but the chips are not my favorite. I have plans to go tonight, but I think I might sneak in for lunch, too! Yum!

My husband and I have been eating at RM (and at the various locations) for over 30 years, . Obviously we love the simple, fresh, authentic Mexican food...so different from the heavy meals served with vats of orange cheddar cheese piled on everything and glue-like frejoles you get at most Mexican restaurants. Angel, and the rest of the kitchen staff are skilled and fast, and the waitstaff (some having worked there as long as weve been eating there) are attentive, fast and friendly. I wold prefer freshly made warm tortilla chips with the delicious salsa, but hey, the rest of the food makes it so worth it.

Soy de Sinaloa y el bistek ranchero de aquí sabe al que hace mi mamá. That says: Im from Sinaloa and the bistek ranchero tastes like the one my mother made for me. Dont listen to reviewers complaining about chips, for crying out loud. The bistek ranchero: legit. The huevos rancheros: legit. The guacamole: my favorite. Its delicious and frankly its the only Mexican restaurant I ever go to and recommend. Get it!

Great Mexican place right on Mill Ave. It has an authentic feel to it and the food was great. I had 2 chicken tacos & a chicken enchilada. Good meat and the red sauce with my enchilada was tasty. The waitress was super nice & service was quick/excellent. The only negative to the place is it kind of smells like floor cleaner or Pine Sol which almost turned me away when I first walked in.

Everything was absolutely perfect. You can tell a lot of time and love was put into these recipes, the service was great and environment was pleasant. The tortilla chips and salsa are flawlessly homemade, the entrees were authentic and delicious, even my iced tea had a special spin on it. Definitely order the Flan as well. This is my new favorite restaurant in Tempe!

I dont understand the one star reviews. If you have ever been to anywhere in Mexico other than Rocky Point, you will find that this place is authentic and delicious. If youre looking for Macayos or other chingaderas, go elsewhere. The huevos con chorizo, the guacamole, and the beans are some of the best around. Bueno, bonito, y barato.

I have been going to this place since it opened on Mill and University. Been away for three years, used to be the best Jalisco style food around. I found the food watery, the sauces "Gringoized". Sadly I will never eat there again. I mourn the style and quality they once had. Tempe has lost a once great place to eat.

The chips and salsa were awful. I got the cheese enchiladas and they were cold and gross tasting. The waiter kept giving us refills without us asking, so we assumed they were free. Turns out they werent and she didnt tell us!! So our bill was ridiculously expensive. Overall I hated it and going here was a waste of money.

My favorite place for queso fresco enchiladas with the best tomatillo sauce! The picadillo tacos duros are also super delicious. The iced tea with a hint of cinnamon is always a nice treat. And the Flan!!!! is the best I have ever had. I have been eating there since 1986 and love the wonderful staff.

Not a place you want to go. Visiting here from ATL and EVERY Mexican restaurant in Atlanta is better than this place. Food was cold. Fajitas were dark meat, not white. Chips were few and cold. This place is something you would see in a mall food court. Trusted the previous reviews and am sorry I did.

I ordered the #3 cheese enchilada dinner with rice and a bottle of imported Pacifico Clara beer. The food arrived promptly and the service was attentive. The environment is quiet so that I could talk with my friend without undue effort.

Chicken taco was inedible, meat smelled like dirty socks, sent it back and waiter charged us for side of rice and beans 3/5 the cost of the taco plate. Bummed we picked this place with so many great food options in the area.
