One of the other Yelpers mentioned this place was like the restaurant from the "Brunch Village" episode from Portlandia and they were absolutely right! Phoenix has its version of "Fishermans Porch" and it does what it does well. That being said, this place is not for everyone. If you are not gastro-venturous and willing to pay for being so, then this is probably not your scene. I was actually happy to find that I literally beat the crowd Sat around 11am (there was absolutely no one in line when I placed my order and the second I was handed my number there was a line out the door..,?). They have an interesting service setup here, which again, only works for a place like this. It is quasi-counter service in that you order at the counter and are given a number and afterwards can choose your seat. They also have a coffeebar, where you see the japanese cold brew drips hourglassing above, where you can pick up your ordered beverages. Based on your number, your food is brought to your table. I ordered the mexican benedict (warning, the sauce and chorizo do have a somewhat spicy kick to them) which was delicious. The potatoes in other reviews were mentioned as "mushy" but I did not find them to be so. They were not as crispy as they could have been, but definitely leaned towards the cooked rather than soft side. I also loved that they have a "coffee flight" of their japanese cold brews. The ones I sampled were the "straight", vanilla cocao, and an lemon jalapeno. The latter was the only one I did not care for. I could have had a full serving of the vanilla cocoa as the density of the coffee balanced out the sweetness of the flavoring and was just perfection! I ended my meal with a portuguese donut, which is, imho, the lovechild of a beignet and indian fry bread, and I will say, their offspring was exquisitely delicious! The space itself was great and I loved the rustic contempo decor. The patio seating area is a kind of shared space w/the entrance to the courtyard of the little shopping center they occupy. Parking is a little limted, but thankfully I didnt have any issues finding a space. All in all, a fantastic experience and should I ever find myself in the downtown area (or short drive from Sky Harbor) again, I will make a detour.

How about Vovo ya-dont-mean-it or My best guess at how Vovo used to cook but that was a long time ago and I dont remember! Ill tell you what, the name implies Portuguese food but having grown up on it, this is the farthest thing from it and a huge disappointment! Obviously the people who have given it a high rating have never experienced a GREAT Portuguese breakfast and have been fooled into thinking a luke warm grease drenched not fully cooked lump of batter is a donut or treat in the traditional style of cooking..... NOT!!! I asked the server if they have Linguiça which is a traditional Portuguese sausage and he said he thought they had it once but no..... Im not sure he knew what I was talking about. ..... Vovo-no-idea! We all commented on one common denominator of each of our pretty tasteless orders....... The eggs!!! Real or Powdered (reconstituted) ..... either way, just not very good. I ordered Blackstone Scramble. I expected what I read, "Pork Shoulder" and seriously folks, it paled in comparison to a Dennys Denver omelet..... it was a very strange thin finely chopped ham colored meat.... very odd. I do not see this restaurant lasting....... This is Phoenix and what we have come to know about eating out there is that, "If it is going to make it, it has to be consistently good" There are sooo many restaurants there and sooo much competition amongst them that this place is not going to last. The seating is horrible not to mention Stupid..... I get the first come first serve thing but we were told to just hold on and not get excited because we would get a great seat...... It never happened and we were three people assigned to a two person table that we couldnt get all the plates on and on the patio between two doors causing us to be brushed up against by every server and patron........ The inside has a neat trendy look and feel but I need more than that in order to appreciate it as an actual eating establishment. Oh, the coffee was good...... Ill up it a star! Forgettable!

Okay, I ordered wrong. My fault. I ordered biscuits and gravy. Because I gave into temptation. Once they arrived at my table, I realized my mistake. I would have been happier with a half or even a quarter order - which they dont offer. Plus something else from their great menu. I think the gravy is really good, but not really my cup of gravy ... So to speak. Biscuits were great, but hard to fix on their taste as they were drowned in gravy. Not complaining, just stating ... I think probably great, but not easy to tell. ☕️ was great! Service was friendly and efficient. My big complaint is the NOISE! They were kinda busy, the place was moderately full. - Maybe 80% of tables had someone at them. And I thought the place was way too noisy. Id go back .... during the week. My guess is, partly based on other reviews, is that the crowds of people and the NOISE, would be unpleasant. I have recommended the place. I just think it could be better. And I could order better. If youre old .... Be prepared to feel your age or older. Everyone there is younger and hipper. Maybe thats just me.

I bring all our out-of-town guests here. This small space with its shabby chic, upcycled decor somehow magically accommodates the always-present crowd without any waiting. I think its because of the way people enter, are greeted by the fabulous host who gives guests a menu and has them queue up to the counter, order, pay, and take a number. By the time you do all that, a table has opened up. You serve yourself your coffee at the coffee bar which is manned by a full-time coffee concierge. Its the best restaurant coffee Ive ever had. And I havent even mentioned the food: its amazing. They do locally sourced food as much as they can. They serve Schrieners sausage, for example. Spanish tortilla, egg, Gouda, sausage-stuffed pita, fabulous French toast, homemade Johnny cakes, and exotic pancakes are among the dishes I recommend.

My boyfriend and I were looking for new breakfast places to try and decided to check Vovomeena out. The reviews were off the charts, especially for the Pain Perdu. To make an unbiased assessment, I refused to order the pain perdu the first time. My logic being: how good can a place REALLY be if they only serve one fantastic item? So, I ordered the Blackstone scramble while my boyfriend decided to continue his search for the best biscuits and gravy. The food was as fabulous as I had read. The biscuits and gravy were some of the best he had ever had and I made a personal oath to come try the pain perdu. That mission was completed today and I concur with all the positive reviews. I was sincerely sad, and disappointed in myself, for not being able to finish what was on my plate. We will be coming back!

Disappointing and not accommodating. I went here with my family after my daughter ran a 5K. I thought I would have a delicious breakfast. While the bangers were good, the tasteless potatoes were half burnt and half raw. My daughters waffle was also tasteless. On top of this, I am disabled and have difficulty standing or walking, so I sat down at a table while the rest of my family waited in line. A server came and told me to move. I explained my disability and he stll insisted I move. Granted, the policy is order first and then find your seat. But there were four other tables in the area that were empty. The staff should be more understanding and the food should at least have salt on it! I will not be going here again.
