After ordering I realized that I was being served one of three already cooked or partially cooked hamburger patties I saw lying on the edge of the griddle: for who-knows-how-long or at what temperature, creating a possible health concern, if only, in my mind. My questionable hamburger patty was reheated on the griddle before being served to me. When eating out I expect my food to be prepared fresh when ordered and served immediately. The restaurant was mostly empty when I arrived, around 1:20 PM for a late lunch. The company founder and website promote the restaurants open "full view" kitchen design saying, "...You can cook a family their meals fresh right in front of them, and they can watch the care you put into doing so..." I watched you! I saw the lack of care you have for your customers and food. A leftover hamburger patty is no ones idea of fresh. Not Impressed! This is just another hamburger joint: nothing special! The meat when sampled, alone, surprisingly had little to no flavor. The texture of the patty was uneven with several small bits of harder meat or grisel in most bites. The cook and staff were very friendly. The decor is designed as an old fashioned soda shop or diner. My review is based solely on the burgers. I did not try any other menu items. I predict marginal success until the lease expires and then theyll be gone. There are just to many, better, burger restaurants. Only time will tell if I am right. Perhaps, just perhaps, I will have to eat my words.

wont even give this place a 1 star. my tea had that taste...(been a server before ...when the staff doesnt do their jobs properly and fail to rinse and clean the tea holders OR had same tea as day before?) Everyone knows that taste that was my first tastebud experience. Then on the bacon cheeseburger they globbed the mustard that alone would ruin the burger! BUT first bite of bacon and it was old tasting hard rubbery in places braking completely in another first bite I mean you could taste the over its time yall know what im talking about........i had eaten some up until this spit out threw burger away. The onions, lettuce EVERYTHING not fresh. I had that feeling from bacon and tast even now into next day I feared I would be throwing up yesterday by 5pm had to count the hours until I knew I was safe. Pour ability of a staff doing a half ass job on the back side.....Smiles dont matter when this fiasco happens. NEVER NEVER at any time any town will I eat at Hwy 55 burgers shakes and fries. UGH

Gave this place two chances and was very disappointed both times. The waitresses never come to the table. It is an all day event just to get food there because it takes forever for anyone to even noticed you walked in. We were literally told by a waitress that she couldnt help us at all because she had just clocked out, and when the next shift came on board, we were asked to move to a different table because that section was closed. This is after sitting here for nearly 30 minutes with not even a drink and the only interaction with a waitress being the two things listed above. The first time, we sat and waited on our waitress, being the only ones in the restaurant, And watched one of the waitresses just sitting at the bar playing on her phone. We waited 30 or so minutes for service then too. As for the food, its pretty good if you can get it. However we sent our gravy fries back because they had maybe a tbsp amount of gravy on them and we were told it would be extra to get any more.

This was my first time going to this restaurant in Tuscaloosa since it recently opened. I was used to Hwy 55 restaurants where I lived in South Carolina. I was looking forward to a good shake. I ordered a fries and chocolate shake. A friend went with me and ordered a burger. They brought him his food and not mine. They finally brought me some cold fries but no shake. 20 minutes later no shake and no explanation. I had eaten all my fries when I realized my shake wasnt coming. I had to flag somebody elses waitress down to ask why. She never came back. I flagged someone else down to inform them. She returned to tell me the shake machine wasnt working. When my waitress finally returned she brought the bill. She acted like she was doing me a great favor by removing the shake from my bill, which I never received. I informed the manager I wouldnt be back. This place was nothing like the franchises back home.

Today my husband and I decided to try Tuscaloosas Hwy 55 for the first time. Omg, theyll never get my business again. The staff workers are so sweet, but the manager/owner is far from professional. We ordered food totaling $35.00 to go. While waiting we were given our $8 grilled chicken salads that we ordered and they were very small. I simply told the girl that we didnt want them looking at the size. She was understanding about it and got the manager/owner. He snatched the salads from the counter and slammed them behind the workers counter and stomped off to the bathroom like a little child throwing a tantrum. In all my years this is the worse display of leadership Ive ever seen. After that, we didnt want any food so we thanked the workers for their professionalism and left. Worse customer service ever. Id advise anyone not to go.

We had a fantastic time at Hwy 55 tonight celebrating a birthday! Our PawPaw loves all things 50s. He even drove his 55 Chevy to dinner. We had fried pickles, chili cheese fries, gravy fries, burgers, cheese steaks, and a whole lot of frozen custard. Everything was great! They got really busy about 10 minutes after we got there and the staff was unfazed, polite, timely, and graceful as they worked through the dinner rush. The staff made sure we had everything we needed even though we were worried we might overstay our welcome (there were nine of us there for close to 3 hours). We will definitely be back! Thank you so much to the awesome folks at Hwy 55 who even put up with us singing loudly along with the 50s music after the dinner rush!

If there was a lower score Id give it. This is by far the worst restaurant in Tuscaloosa. The food service time is ridiculous not only did it take 45 min for my food to be made and brought to my table but it was made incorrectly 3 times. When I asked for the manager He was very rude I think his name was Derrick Maddox. He told me he did think he should have to deal with the customers and that his assistant should handle the issue. It is clear that he has never worked in the food industry and he doesnt value the customers. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone it is a horrible place bad management and even worse food. Do yourself a favor and do not go there.
