I used to eat here as a kid when we lived in the apartments nearby. Tonight my hubby & I took our teens. I love the atmosphere here and is a much better experience than take out. I was excited to see a Pu Pu Platter on the menu as I used to love these as a kid. My son and I shared a House Specialty which includes soup, Pu Pu Platter or egg roll, tea or coffee and your choices of two entrees. We had General Tsos Chicken and Hunan Shrimp. I loved the handmade flower made with carrot & radish. It added to the look of my meal. All the food was served on silvers platters and stands with lids. It was so fancy. Our daughter had Chicken Lo Mein and she ate all of it! My hubby is a vegetarian and had Buddhas delight. Our cheerful waitress informed us you can orders General Tsos with tofu and its very popular. My son wasnt a big fan of General Tsos. I tasted it and it had ginger but isnt what you get with most Chinese takeout versions. Our dinner for 4 was only $55. We really enjoyed ourselves and the service we received was excellent. The portion size was generous and well have enough for lunch tomorrow. This place has been a long standing business in our area and with quality food and service, its sure to remain.

Port Arthur is THE ONLY place I will ever eat Chicken Chow Mein, EVERYPLACE ELSE PUTS SO MUCH CORN STARCH in in to thicken-- HORRIBLE THEY DO SAME THING WITH EGG DROP SOUP!! YUK!! I am in my early 70s & when they were originally in Downtown Newport News next to what then was the Warwick Theatre, my Mother would always take us there!! I was 8 yrs old, still remember the black & white tiles on that Restaurant!! We NEVER WOULD EAT AT ANY OTHER CHINESE RESTAURANTS, well, tried a couple, but, as I said, FOOOD IS BEST AROUND For CHICKEN CHOW MEIN & egg drop soup with rice in their clear broth w/ rice. My Mother and Daddy both passed away 1994, but prior to daddy passing we all went to port Arthur for our usual!! To this day, it has never changed! Delicious, maps always!!!

Really good "classic" American Chinese restaurant. Wonton soup broth was very satisfying, and the wontons were fresh. Pork filling was seasoned perfectly. The hot and sour soup was prepared the way it is supposed to be with black mushrooms, bamboo shoots, tofu, and meat. Mongolian beef is served in a dark sauce and the beef was tenter and tasty. Orange chicken was all white meat, lightly breaded, and covered in a zesty but not overly sweet orange sauce. Portions for dinner were generous as my wife and I both had leftovers. Service was great, thanks Jenny! This was our first visit and there will be many more. I cant wait to try the roast duck and mushu pork!

Our takeout order was so bad my husband returned it and walked out. My general Tsos chicken was a huge cold glop of overcooked chicken pieces in a big soggy plum sauce (I think). Who could tell? There was no spice to it at all. Our egg rolls were almost burned and had shrimp in them. If I had and allergy to shrimp Id be dead and my husband does not eat seafood period. His beef with mushrooms and broccoli looked better but the few bits of beef were unchewable. We are now working on getting the taste out of our mouths.

Best food, most tranquil and serene dining environment, A little pricier than most take out places but the portions are a good size and they dont skimp on the extras *love the bean sprouts in my fried rice* . Bar has a simple selection of what you would normally want, no craft beers or anything but tons of sake if thats your poison. All in all great place to take a date or just have a nice relaxing meal with your significant other, or maybe your mother this Mothers Day

Got the general tsos. It was covered in an almost black sauce, which tasted nothing like standard general tsos but was, instead, quite bitter. I couldnt make it past 4 pieces of chicken (though the chicken itself was of better quality than many). The rice was also very difficult to eat. It had a taste/smell that reminded me of dirt and socks. This is the first time that Ive ever thrown out Chinese food. Giving it 2 stars because the egg roll was fantastic.

Ordered the salt and pepper shrimp for take out. They were ok...had better but had worse. However the rice and broccoli both tasted like they had been prepared with bleach water. Not really appetizing. I couldnt finish the meal. Definitely not worth the cost. Maybe they were having an off day, but I think there are better restaurants around for much less money.

Been a patron of this fine establishment for many years. Theyve always had excellent food, and are willing to work with you if you have any special dietary needs. Interior is not as dark as most Chinese restaurants, which mean you can appreciate the cleanliness, and decor all the more.

The General Tsos here is my addiction. I get it every single time. A large platter of perfectly sauced chicken served with rice, soup, and an egg roll. Port Arthurs never disappoints!

Ordered 3 items for $20, threw most of it in the trash. I read previous reviews and thought it must be great, but I dont think Ive ever had worse. Wish I had better news.
