Last night I ordered Chinese food from the empress of china located on Belt Line rd across from Irving mall. Me and my gf were celebrating the fact that she had passed a very important test. I ordered from the online menu and used the number/letter codes listed on it. They repeated back the order and said it would be 45 minutes to an hour. The online menu listed that the beef on a stick appetizer was 6 pieces. things started going downhill from the moment the driver got to the gate in our apartments. The driver was screaming about how we didnt give him the code to the gate when we ordered...... codes are for residents non residents get buzzed in. the beef on a stick had 4 instead of 6 so i called the resteraunt thinking there had been an error. and was told no, that its only 4, that the online menu is wrong and I should have asked how many came with it....... I was still hoping for a pleasant meal so I let it go and sat down to eat. the sesame chicken was by far the worst Ive ever been served. I was charged a premium price for what looked and tasted like an order cooked hours earlier and set under a heat lamp. it was almost as tough as beef jerky. I ate very little then set it aside in favor of the fried rice I had ordered. It wasnt fried rice at all but steamed rice...... My gfs food was cold and they hadnt even put any soy sauce forks spoons or even chop sticks in the bag..... we both ended up throwing our food away virtually untouched after I called and spoke to John the manager of the store. As if the meal wasnt bad enough their idea of customer service was to say that since i had "touched" the food he couldnt take it back..... he told me sesame chicken was one of the most popular items on their menu and that it was crispy and delicious..... i said it may have been when it was cooked but this was very obviously old I even offered to bring it uip so he could see for himself. He had a very condecending tone in his voice as he repeated that i had touched it. I finally asked him how i was supposed to know it was old cold and nasty if i hadnt tried it first and that if he didnt make this right we would never be back. he said he didnt care. when I asked him who his boss was he refused to answer. by far the worst eating experience Ive had in over 20 years. I only wish I could give them a negative rating. I will also be filing complaints with the trade practices department at the BBB for false advertising. Incidently regarding the online menu. he claimed it wasnt for his store and yet........ all the little number and letter codes on the menu matched up perfectly...... now what are the odds of that?

I walked in and it smelled like dirty toilet bowl so I politely told the manager but once you were in side it didnt smell bad and restaurant looked very nice so I decided to give a try anyways. After ordering our food it smelled like it was burned and didnt finish it and Im a fat ass I will eat anything but that I couldnt do it and to top it off the hot sauce had pieces of paper and I again called for the manager when manager came she said oh youre the guys that dont like the smell and I told her about that the pieces of paper on the hot sauce she said if we dont like it dont come back thats all you got to do dont complain just dont come back but make sure you tip your Waiters which was pretty hilarious

This place is SO unbelievably Rude. The one star is directly for their customer service. I ordered sweet n sour chicken and some egg rolls and soup. Right before i left with my food, i asked "is my steamed rice and everything else in here?" He said yes. I thought the bag was too light, so i asked again. Again he confirmed my order was complete. Sure enough i get home and im missing my rice and the sweet n sour sauce. I go back to complain, he comes back with 2 containers of rice. Im thinking hes compensating for making me drive back. Instead he grabs my arm and says No! Only one. There was no apology no nothing. Just plain rude.

Ive been there four times now and love it. Always good service, the food is great (I particularly enjoy their szechuan chicken), prices are fair, and unique among establishments in Dallas, its open quite late every day (this city closes up earlier than most). My girlfriend, who is from China, is not quite as in love, criticizing it for not being perfectly authentic to Hunan, so I suppose if youre looking for Chinese food as it would be served in contemporary China, this may not be your place, but Ive grown up in America and think its among the best Chinese food Ive had.

Three tries - I wont return. 1st visit I had Hunan Triple Crown and it was Ok 2nd visit I ordered the Beef/snow pea. It was so overlooked that the snow peas were literally mush. 3rd visit I ordered the Orange beef (I love a good orange beef). Holy cow, IT WAS HORRIBLE! It was served drowning in the sweetest syrup that I have ever tasted - similar to liquified orange Spree candy. I challenge you to find a worse Orange Beef- I cant. I would feel bad writing such a negative review, but I sincerely feel that they dont care.

Ordered delivery, said it would take 45minutes-1hr, it took 1hr 30 for them to get here. Delivery guy was RUDE, banging on the door, then walked off with our delivery bc we didnt have cash even though I gave them our card information over the phone. Spent another 15 minutes on the phone with the lady getting the problems fixed which didnt get resolved so I had to cancel the order anyways. Over an hour of waiting and I had to cancel it anyway. I will never return here, this is poor service, and a terribly run establishment.

One try - I was in LOVE! With a good amount of customers, (slightly) low lighting, a clean, moderate look, and very good food; I was in love! My favorite dish, chicken lomain, has a sweet soy sauce, crunchy veggies, and chewy noodles. Now, I DO realize that sometimes the sauce can be abit sweet, but if you cant take the sweet, than all you are is sour. And with very nice workers, I and my family have made good friends here. I encourage you all to go there!

They do a fantastic job with their chicken dishes. The orange/general tsos/sesame/sweet and sour chickens are all very good and with the fried rice its a lot of food. Good, big eggrolls too. We usually order takeout from here about once a month. We used to do delivery, but sometimes delivery can take longer than an hour. Other than that, the place is great. Definitely the best American Chinese food restaurant in the Irving area.

Extremely disappointing. My go-to Chinese delivery (Wus) was closed, so we decided to try Empress of China. I ordered Sesame Chicken with fried rice. Although it was peak lunch hour, the chicken (what I got of it - portions were very small) was tough and dry, as though it had been made for hours. The rice was bland and overall the dish was fairly tasteless. Live and learn, I suppose. I wouldnt recommend them.
