On friday July 10th 2015 I was starving and I went for a birthday party on the roof top of this place. I asked if food was being served upstairs and I was told "yes appetizers are being served". I had to wait a half hour to get upstairs. I finally make it upstairs and I was told that the waitress would be with me shortly. After 20 minutes I went to the bar because no waitress came to my area. After I settle in and finish my drink, the waitress finally comes. I tried to order food and she says that the kitchen closed 5 minutes ago and it was not even 9 pm on a Friday night. Since food could be purchased downstairs still I asked to speak to the manager and he spoke to me and stated that "you can go downstairs and eat then come back up". I explained to him that I all my friends and family were upstairs and that wouldnt make sense. I then asked if I would have to wait on the elevator line which had no time table since they were full on the roof and had to wait till guests left in order to let people upstairs. He stated "yes, and there is nothing that I can do about that", he patted my back and walked away. Till I left, I was trapped upstairs with no food. The waitress came over a few times and asked if I received the food I washed. I dont know if I was being made fun of or if she really cared, but that also rubbed me the wrong way. I did get 2 drinks from the bar. I even gave the bar tender a 10 dollar tip cause she did her job and had nothing to do with the ordeal. Ill stick to the finer rooftops in nyc.

Oh, Rare. Where do I even start - both the place where I celebrated getting a full-time offer, and the place where I ate my feelings when Colombia was bumped out of the World Cup. Clearly I have some emotional bias towards this restaurant, but to be honest they have some great burgers. The price isnt bad and you feel like you are eating in a fine-dining hall (granted it is inside of the Hilton Hotel), plus the service is always on-point. Another delight is the Grilled Salmon Salad - I highly recommend it. Tip: Always go with the Sweet Potato Fries, youll thank me later.

I just remembered I forgot to take a picture of the knife on wall display that spells out "EAT". Argh! Tasty burgers and french fries are what this spot excels at. Note that the Jameson burger is tasty but it seems the dark marinade makes it hard for them to cook the meat to your preference. Error on the side of overcooking. My "medium" was more flat-out rare (they were very accommodating in rectifying though and offered us free dessert on the house). Fried Oreos for dessert are delicious and portion size surprisingly generous.

Nice interior, very good and quick service! Found the place through a website with the "21 best hamburgers of NYC". Honoustly speaking I did expect some more because of the reputation of this place; my mexican hamburger with small side dish was nice but not excellent. The meat was good, somewhat too greasy, the bun was too dry. Topping and seasoning was great! Also had a nice cocktail which lacked the kick of a good part vodka. Nevertheless I can recommend the place if you want to have a quick and not too fancy dinner.

This is my favorite rooftop bar in NYC. Not that Ive been to them all, but I dont feel the need to either. Spectacular views, really laid back staff and reasonably priced food and drinks make Rare View my rooftop destination of choice. I recently had my birthday party here and many of my guests found themselves making plans to return. Get there on the early side and you should be able to grab a couch or a table for your party. But even if you dont, the crowd is fun so mingle and enjoy!

The food was amazing! My server was Chavale a very sweet woman who helped make the night wonderful. The entire staff that helped us out was amazing and they were very attentive. The atmosphere here is amazing and after dinner downstairs we went up to the rooftop to enjoy the bar and the breathtaking view of the skyline! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to have a very enjoyable relaxing evening out for dinner and drinks! If I could give more then 5 stars I would!

Average, especially for the price. The burger was okay (I got the M&M burger), but it didnt have anything that stood out. Burger was well even though I asked for medium. Fries were interesting; their shoestring fries and the regular ones were good mostly, some were stiff as a rock. The sweet potato fries werent good. I wish I tried the Parmesan truffle fries. Service was okay. The place is enormous with tons of seating, even during peak lunch. Overall, average.

Perfectly cooked medium rare burgers with a thin layer of sear on the outer edges of the burger leaving inner 80% bun-soakingly pink and juicy. French Fry tasting basket was excellent in both taste and value. Roof-top bar has an amazing view but I felt the atmosphere was a little too club-like with bouncers/security. Felt unnecessary with this model wanna-be crowd. Atmosphere in restaurant was more relaxed than the roof-top. Staff was very nice.

Just the two of us. Someone seated us at a table that would seat 4, though it was two tables pushed together. The restaurant was virtually empty. We sat side by side so we could both see the TV screen. Another waitress then came across and asked us to move as we were using two tables. It wasnt our choice to sit there, that was where we were seated. Decided this was shocking service and left without ordering.

Most trips to NYC I schedule a diner meeting at Rare. The food quality is four too five star. Its not cheap but nothing is in NYC. Staff is very friendly and I cant say I have had bad service here. Its a true artesian burger joint, so yes the burgers are $25, but you get what you pay for, if I was dining out with my family probably not e place I would go, but for bunnies the atmosphere is perfect.

good service unimpressed burger - went with a group of 9 and had the best service and the place is beautiful - had drinks on the roof before dinner once we got past the "TSA like" security, a very nice spot - highlight of the meal was the fried pickles, the burger was tasteless and dry they need to send their cooks to 5 NAPKIN BURGER in Hells Kitchen and learn how make a juicy burger,

It was ... Fine. Sure, its just a burger joint so what should I expect, right? And the burgers were pretty good, as was the service. The fries, though, were nothing to write home about and the fired Oreos, while generously portioned and indisputably all the sugar fox you could ask for, werent actually very good. The word spongy comes to mind. Overall ... Meh

I really liked this place. The appetizer specials were amazing and gigantic. We all ordered different burgers for our entrees, and everyone enjoyed them. Dessert was equally impressive. We tried 4 and my personal favorite was the cheesecake. We got way too much food (large portions here), but it was worth it.
