Terrible Experience: They now will not give you any type of sauce with Naan bread. Wont order from here again. I have ordered from here several times in the past and the food was honestly pretty good, but the portions were really small. EVERY time I ordered, the naan bread came with 3 sauces (a greenish one, a brown one, and of course raita). Last week when I ordered, just raita and the brown sauce came so I figured they were just out of the other. no problem. last night, I got none except for the "extra" raita I paid for separately. It was in a tiny container and I had 2 orders of naan, so it was basically worthless as it lasted 2 bites. When I called to ask if they forgot the sauce, the manager said "No" and thats it. He was curt and rude and said the Naan does not come with sauce and never did. He is either lying or they changed their policy in the last few days and hes lying about that. 4 or 5 times prior, I have always gotten dipping sauces for the naan bread. Like any standard indian NYC restaurant. Also note that last night, one of the entrees in the 3-entree combination had ONE BITE SIZED PIECE of chicken and a container of sauce. The portions have gotten ridiculously small. They were really rude on the phone last night and didnt care. Too bad, they have now lost a loyal customer.

Not sure if Ive mentioned this before, but I like wine. A lot. This place makes pretty good wine, in fact. They also have a wine making program that you can buy into to contribute to the production of a barrel (or more). I recently grabbed a bite at their "Barrel Room," which is adjacent to the main space, and tried one of their recent pinot noir offerings while savoring a couple apps. Everything was very tasty and the space is small, but comfortable. Ive also dined in the bigger room, which is also very nice. The main room is a great place to see a show, too. Very open and very intimate, with seating in the area of 250 or so, its small enough to not really have a bad seat but also big enough to draw some serious talent. The bookings tend to focus on folk, jazz, singer/songwriter, classic rock and some nostalgia acts. They also host interesting food and wine events, showcasing different regions, varietals, menus, etc. If youre interested in seeing an intimate performance in a classy, more sophisticated space, while getting your unabashed wino on, this a perfect spot for that. The vibe is chill and Ive always had a good time there.

NOT RECOMMENDED. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE TO EAT GOOD INDIAN FOOD. I went to tour NY and was looking for decent Indian restaurants. I saw their website and called this place for couple of menu questions. they said we will give combo of 2 sabzi and naan only if you come here to eat. I then went there for lunch and found that its not at all a restaurant.. more like a food shop.. anyways I then asked for combo offer as I was told on phone.. I was surprised that they refused and said combo is only applicable for certain available sabzis not on all as mentioned on phone.. I immediately got that these people are cheaters and lie on phone to attract customer. I thought now I have come with my family so leave it and lets have lunch.. so, I ordered food.. Again I was surprised to see the quantity of sabzis.. it was only half a small bowl which is not even sufficient for 1 person. On questioning they said.. we provide this much only n in business for 20 years with these cheap tactics !!

Sometimes a neighborhood is bereft of some types of cuisines. That is the case for Indian in FiDi. Of the few Indian restaurants in this area, this is my favorite. A meal always has rice and a piping fresh naan bread and the selection of veggies and meats, mostly chicken, will satisfy vegetarians and meat lovers alike. For what you get the price is good. Its always my go to place when I have a craving for Indian.

I like Diwanekhaas (also Smart Indian?) ... I order veggie platters all the time from here - never oily like some other places. Garlic naan is good too. Consistent and kind delivery staff. Eating there is what it is - they often play pleasing Indian music, in a humble setting. Their chai is good too. Dont expect a fine-dining experience, and you wont be disappointed. Local goto.

This place was a disappointment. The food didnt taste that great. We ordered biryani and a vegetable entry, and they were just okay. Biryani was far from what it is supposed to taste like. The naan was nice and that was about the only thing. The place itself is a bit gloomy and someone needs to tell them that putting chicken on rice with food color doesnt make it a biryani.

This place provides accurate receipts for your purchase and doesnt charge any extra tax other than what state of NY mandates. They serve food with lot of love and care and they are very passionate about not being rude. They serve large portions of food. Check it out and you will share your experience on google reviews.

A lot of options. The servers could be more happy, thought they did explain everything well and did their job well. The bread was very fresh and very good. Veggies were average in taste. Would stop by only if in the area and very hungry.

UMMMMMM what can I say, worst Indian food ever. I had the Tikka Masala which basically tasted like chicken in chef boyardi tomato sauce there were absolutely no fresh ingredients , GROSS. -_________- #disappointment

This is a very good but small place with 8 tables capacity, good tasting food, cheap, and very friendly. Only drawback no water is provided. So make sure you bring your water.

Small takeout joint, no a/c or ventilation, wobbly chairs and tables, but the food is awesome. Combos are about $10-15 depending on what you get. Must try the fish curry.

Super friendly, accommodating staff. Clean, fast, spicy Indian in an area that is pretty covered in chain restaurants. My new favorite place!
