I had a bowl of miso ramen at Pikaichi at 11:30 this morning. Its 9:20 right now, and thinking about that bowl of ramen still makes my mouth water. Pikaichi doesnt feel like any kind of Dining Experience--its in a food court, its noisy, its tiny, its cheap. And the ramen was nothing special--just broth, noodles, pork, scallions, and some corn kernels, add some chili powder if you like. You could go to a joint that felt classy, cost more, and served you a prettier, more interesting bowl of ramen. I have. It was also good. But today, during New Englands complementary April snowstorm, this ramen sang to my soul. The broth was nutty, rich, and so thick I could almost sink my teeth into it. The corn, even though it wasnt the freshest, brought out the sweet, green notes of pork and seaweed and scallion in the broth. The pork was tender and perfectly seasoned. The generously provided noodles were chewy and slurpable. It was, in short, the most comforting food I have ever eaten, and I will take the memory of slurping those noodles and sipping that broth forward into the cold, windy world for at least the next couple days. Go here with someone you love enough not to talk to and eat some ramen. (On a more objective note, the takoyaki were tasty, but a little gluey.)

Food: 4 Decor: 2 Service: 3 Came here for ramen on a Sun night. 1.Pika Miso Ramen * homemade miso flavored ramen served with 6oz custom made noodles topped with tender sliced pork, nori, ground pork, corn and scallions. ~Pretty good. Added extra sliced pork, season boiled whole egg (wish it were soft boiled/poached), and corn, all of which were quite tasty. Butter would have made it even more amazing, but I would have felt too guilty. 2. Cha-Shu Don shredded pork & scallions on top of a bowl of white rice 4 ~Pretty good. I love pork and scallions with rice, although I wish this one came with more pork. Service was quite fast.

Pikaichi is a welcome member of Bostons ramen scene. When we went, we both got the Jigoku Ramen - a hellishly spicy bowl of pork broth with diced pork, nori, and noodles. It was *perfect* for the cold, slushy weather when we had it. Both of us have a pretty high spice tolerance, and we were still sweating and teared up from the heat. Maybe they heard our enthusiasm and upped the spice, but who knows? A great spot to try out if youre in the area. We also really love the charm of the place - lots of character, and art everywhere. We were sorely tempted to get one of the shirts they had hanging on the wall.

Yummy ramen in a cozy, cool spot! Had the Jigoku Ramen, which was homemade spicy soy sauce flavored ramen. It was rated the spiciest option on the menu with two hot pepper icons. My roommate and I had it and thought it was perfect in spice. Apparently we can take the heat (for people who enjoy some kick in their food). The ramen was a tasty, big, and great priced lunch especially with a side of white rice and a mango soft drink for about twelve dollars. Definitely going back!

I remembering having their miso soup for first time and it was just amazing. I saw the colors of this bowl and it was just popping. I will never forget this and I do enjoy it. The staff there is just amazing with service. They will pour me more water before I even have a chance to ask for more. Here are my favorite dishes: Katsu curry Pika miso Ramen Spicy tofu Everything in the menu is great please give them all a try. I do miss some of the old dishes they taken out.

Super quick and friendly service! Tako Yaki (fried octopus balls) was nice and crisp, sauce wasnt excessive. The tasuta (fried chicken) was tender and crispy. The Shumai was nothing special but was good. Now, the Ramen was the best part by far. First off, the soup wasnt salty at all and was drinkable. A healthy portion of noodles were given and the pork was nice and soft. Overall the restaurant is great, it has a very anime feel to it and the experience was wonderful.

Im not sure what it is, but after returning to Pikaichi after a year, the ramen really doe not sit well with my stomach. It may be the excessive oil and MSG, which you can taste if you constantly need to be drinking water. For the price, this is decent-quality ramen around the Boston area. However, I will not be returning because I have been bed-ridden twice now from the ramen here. What I ordered: Spicy miso ramen Pika miso ramen

It is a noisy but trendy college kinda place. Not very fancy, but well suited to a young no frills crowd. Dont expect high end ramen, (never thought Id be saying those words when I was in college myself) but it is decent and not too pricy. The place is in a back corner of a food court, but is its own place. It tends to be breezy because the doors are always open and there is no vestibule, so in tge winter it is chilly.

Such a great place! Tucked inside the Super 88, it isnt the easiest place to find, but those who do are rewarded with some top quality Ramen. My favorite is the spicy miso, which is flavorful, filling, and fresh. The small restaurant is clean, very efficient, and has a friendly staff who bustle customers in and out. I also highly reccomend the shrimp shumai as a great starter.

This is a hidden gem for me as far as ramen is concerned. I recently found out about this ramen shop and man was I missing out on easy-on-the-wallet, excellent ramen.Their broth is simply delicious and has so much depth of flavors. The place is pretty small so there can be a wait on busy nights. I was so happy with the ramen here, I came back the next day to eat again.

Es cómodo al estar cerca de la estación de tren y bus. Agradable y funcional al estar en esquina de un centro de comida oriental. La comida es abundante y económica.

Having lived for a time in Japan, I cant say that Pikaichi is entirely traditional and in accords with a Japanese palet (traditionally). That being said, the menu takes "traditional" dishes and puts a twist on them, and the food IS tasty. I recommend it strongly, but dont go expecting your craving for karaagedon to be met the way you expect.

Quick, delicious and not-so-expensive. They give you more for your buck than many of the restaurants out there, so if you want that and decent taste, you should try here. Yuzu Ramen was very weird and strange, but delicious. However, be sure to ask for a change if you are paying with cash...or else, they will confiscate everything as a tip.

Ramen was tasty but much too salty. I couldnt finish it due to the salt content. I got badly shortchanged after paying with a $50 bill, being solo with my nose in a book, and when I pointed out the mistake, the waitress brought back the correct change with no explanation. Count your change.

Love the jigoku ramen, spicy and flavorful! This hits the spot on a cold wintery day. Their curry rice is a delicious side. If you get the ramen to go, they pack all the food perfectly. And getting take out is a good idea, because the space is small and theres always a crowd.

This is a nice, inexpensive, authentic ramen place right in the Allston area. I do wish they had a tonkotsu-style broth option, but unfortunately they dont. I really enjoyed the spicy miso ramen however! We will definitely come back to this place.
