Third visit to The Cafe was not a charm. Wife and I walked over on a Saturday around 11:30 for brunch. It was not full, and we were seated outside immediately, but to a table that had not been cleaned, and which still had the signed Bill and tip from the previous party ($25 Bill / $1 tip should have been a clue). Waitress then brought us menus and returned with water immediately, at which time we gave our orders, which were both the Hash scramble, one of the quickest-cooking orders on the menu. 20 minutes later....our waitress comes out to tell us that shes sorry about the wait. The computers went down and all the orders were lost and thats why its taking so long. No "Can I get you anything while you wait?" or "The Mgr will comp your ticket for this." Nothing. Meanwhile, a table of four nearby, who came in after us, are getting their orders. Another ten minutes go by (during which I never saw our server) until finally a different girl comes and literally drops our plates on the table in front sit us without saying a word and walks off. I finally saw our server again about 5 minutes later and asked for hot sauce. (Scramble was re-heated, by the way, and tasted like it had been sitting for at least 15 minutes.) No hot sauce for another 5 minutes. I actually had to put my fork down, sit back in my chair, and follow the server around with my eyes for another 10 minutes until she finally made eye contact. Even with my sunglasses on she could tell I was not happy because the minute she saw me she exclaimed, "Hot Sauce!" Without any apology...not so much as a "sorry"....she grabs a bottle (from the next table mind you) and sets it on our table and again walks off without a word. Totally unacceptable, unprofessional servers, below average food prep, and our meals should have been comped, period. This place better step up their game if they intend to compete with all the new options that are coming into the neighborhood. Complacency can kill a business.

This restaurant has made it in a city full of different venues. They offer lunch only but have it down to a fine art. Their offerings are substantial and although I never leave without a go box, I eat until Im full. The sandwiches, salads and breakfast offering are original and delicious. I always have to get the Victoria which is the Benedictine, cucumber, and bacon sandwich. I warm you parking is at a premium and you may have to walk a few blocks to get there. The alfresco dining is a nice addition and I never have to wait longer than a few minutes to be seated. Try the bread pudding it take a look at those cake offerings when you walk in the door! Wow,!

Love their food! I didnt know this place was here until I went with family. Excellent service, clean facility, fairly inexpensive, great variety of food, and all day breakfast. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. The tuxedo cake is amazing. Very easy access from Bardstown road, although Apple maps tries to take you down vine street when you have to go down Brent first to get to vine. You cant get straight from vine from Bardstown road. You can also get to it from Barret Ave. Which is easier because its at a light. Does have good parking since there is a small parking lot across from them.

-Mediocre food, the cakes look divine and seem to be loved by all that try them. However, I would not recommend this place to a friend. I would much rather go to Brooke & Billys Bites Bourbons & Brews Restaurant, literally 30 seconds up the street.... They have a bar and patio, better ambiance, better management, and a really cool vibe. If youre looking for turkey on whole wheat with mayo- go to The Cafe. If youre looking for an experience, with great prices and amazing food.....go a little further up street and enjoy!!!

This clean little restaurant is well hidden within a dowtrodden section of Louisville inside a small renovated warehouse. The atmosphere is relaxed and festive with a lot of retro art. The Menu is reasonable with a few breakfast items for less than seven dollars, the quality it price ratio is exceptional on breakfast items but the average plate will run you between 8 and 12 dollars depending on drinks and extras. They take reservations but are able to accommodate large groups easily outside of peak hours with no wait.

Consistently delicious since the very first time I went there years ago when they were still in the antique mall. My grandma was disappointed in her Reuben because she said it supposed to have tomatoes and mustard. But she let the waitress know and she was quick to bring her some tomatoes and mustard. My sandwich was the roasted chicken breast sandwich and it was amazing! Exactly what I wanted. :) If you go for the first time definitely have their tomato dill soup. Its THE soup that they are known for.

A guest fell today because the owner is too cheap to invest in good chairs. But thats just the beginning, my aunt ate there about 2 months ago and she found the back end of a ROACH in here sandwich. Pretty sure she ate the front half. Need we say more. Oh, and the same owner who yelled at the person who fell out of the chair told my Aunt that "oh, well restaurants feed tons of bugs to people all the time, but people dont realize it and thats the only reason most places dont get in trouble.

The Stephan Foster is awesome! If you start at the edge, youll get a taste of the eggs and Morney sauce. Youll think this is pretty good!. But as you get further in, other flavors will introduce themselves. The Dijon will come in and bring it up a notch, then BAM, the ham rolls in to finish out the flavor party. It may look a little small, but there is plenty enough to make you feel satisfied but not stuffed. We really liked this joint, and will definitely return!

This is my favorite place to have lunch. The salads are amazing, very fresh and full. I recently departed from my usual and tried an omelette. It was well prepared, hot (I hate it when things that are supposed to be hot are cold), and came out promptly. The serving staff always seems to anticipate what I want; maybe its because Im a frequent flyer. One note of caution: Its really, really busy at lunch, so you might want to make a reservation.

Food was mediocre at best, server seemed irritated. It was as if she was trying to rush us to order but there were only a few tables. Many parts of the food seemed inexpensive, like the cheap sausage. Id rather get real sausage from Whole Foods and patty it at home for the price. Christian owned and operated but it sure doesnt feel like it. Maybe ownership changed or our standards lessened?
