First of all we made reservation the night before for my daughters graduation dinner. When we arrived they did NOT have our reservation, No big deal they would still be able to seat our party of 13. While waiting for them to set up our table I asked if we could get a drink from their full bar which is located in the front of the restaurant. The waiter whom I asked had a mean look on his face and said "No Bartender Bar Closed". Wow this is Friday night and nobody serving drinks, we are not off to a good start. We soon got seated, but nobody comes to take our drink order nor do they ask if we want water. We all watch and observe the workers cleaning tables around us, but still NO help!!! After 20 minutes of waiting I walked over and asked for some drink service. About 3 of the most unfriendly workers appeared to be arguing who would take on the task of helping our party of 13. We then got the help of a woman who was no more then 4 5" tall and looked like the lady from "Poltergeist". We ordered our drinks and watched her turn on the lights to the bar and began getting our beers and sodas. My sister was the only person who ordered a mixed drink I have NEVER seen a Vodka and Cranberry look like a Whiskey and 7. We now have our drinks and this waitress leaves to the front of the restaurant and begins making napkin settings for future patrons. We then all watch her cleaning tables never even looking in our direction. I then got up again, and asked the waiter nearest our table if we can begin to order. This guy gave me a look that I was asking for something crazy, no smile, matter of fact he looked mad. Our waitress reluctantly game over and began to take our order, the food was served within 15 minutes of our ordering. Prior to her bringing our last dish we all watched this lady stick her arm inside the goldfish tank, rub the inside glass with her bear hands. She then swiped her wet arm on the side of her clothes walked into the kitchen and brought out our final dish. She had no time to wash her hands pretty gross. The one dish I think everyone wanted was the "Chicken Chow Mien" this dish never even made it to our table. I wanted to ask, but once again the waitress was in the back, only this time she was eating. This was the worst experience I have ever had at any restaurant. Our bill came which you couldnt read because it was in Chinese however, you could read the total $230.00. Of the total bill 15% of it was for the tip which for the first time in my 50 years eating out, I refused to pay. I asked for the manager and explained our bad experience while doing so she interrupted me and asked if I wanted boxes for the left overs. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

Sadly this place is going down the drain. My family and I have been coming to this place for over 20 years. We have celebrated big and small occasions and Id say we go 4-5 times a year but the food and service is slowly declining. I went earlier this week and the service was absolutely terrible. We have had the same waitor so many times, in fact he told my mom that he would not charge for the crispy noodles that come with the plum sauce because we had been customers for so long. That was a shock to us but whatever, we got over it, at least the tea was still free. We ordered our food, it was warm when it should be hot? Like its always been. We ordered fried rice it literally just tasted and looked like white rice with low sodium soy sauce, not even that it just looked like brown rice really. I think the orange chicken is the worst when it used to be my favorite. Its just sugary orange goop chicken. Our water came by the time we were almost done with our water. Worst of all, we had to stand for all our sauces and condiments because there was no one to wait on us and the waitor we got still had the audacity to ask why we didnt tip, bad attitude, late lukewarm food (it wasnt busy AT ALL) and he had been no where to be seen while we were eating. Definitely not going back.

This wasnt bad as a I thought it would be. I have been here quite a few times and the place does need some remodel, but its ok for now. Maybe turn the a/c on low, its a bit stuffy. Thus, my 4-star rating. However, the decor is very nice. The outside looks so-so pleasant. Its not until you go inside to the restaurant, it feels like you are in china. It reminds me of a restaurant in Beijing where President Clinton had dined at. The same sort of decor. I think what can spruce up the restaurant is better chairs and maybe instrumental Chinese music. I can make a custom cd for them if needed. the prices here are from reasonable good to expensive. Thus, you are eating in the san fernando valley, whereas if you were in Chinatown or SGV; the prices are bit more reasonable. the dishes that i would recommend trying are the dim sum dishes like, har gow(shrimp dumplings), Shui mai (pork dumplings), sweet and pungent shrimp is nice here too. MUST AVOID ordering the thai ice tea at all costs!!!!

Ok where do I begin! First and foremost, I agree w/ Chance about blandness....It was our first time there, we ordered VERY BASIC things like chicken chow mein, bbq pork ribs, sweet & sour soup, & mixed veggies. Chow mein: all we tasted was garlic, not that theres anything wrong w/ garlic, but NO other flavor, incredibly dry! BBQ Pork Ribs: overcooked, NO flavor, definitely not fall off the bone, had better for cheaper. Sweet & Sour soup???? I BEG TO DIFFER... sweet & NOT SOUR soup. I never in my life had to add soy sauce in a sweet & sour soup. My mixed veggies were about the best thing i had, but still i had to create a sauce of my own for it. I mixed some soy sauce w/ siracha and poured it over, only then was it edible. This place is WAY OVER RATED, prices were NOT worth it. They should call in BLAND Wall of China. Oh and the server really did not have to slam our plates on the table the way she did, really irritating.

Its a small, intimate space, but very chic and quiet. There were only three groups in the restaurant, and with.it was easy to have a nice conversation over dinner. The menu is a short, curated affair, but everything The Great Wall Chinese Restaurant. I opted to have two starters, including a really delightful marinated salmon dish. We shared a dessert, which was the most The Great Wall Chinese Restaurant Ive ever seen. It was chewy and perfect, with silky and a light Reseda kind of syrup. Our waiter was friendly and attentive without hovering.

Beautiful place. Big with many tables and white maps. I felt it is good start. 5 minutes went by, no one come to offer us menus (and the place is half empty). I singled the waitress, and he gave us menus. I had questions but he ran to the next table. Another 5 minutes. Now we only asking the questions. Another 5 minutes and we order. Ok food, fair prices. A lot of potential, hope they will get better.
