When is the last time you sat down to enjoy a cup of coffee? Nows your time! Recreation Coffee will remind you how a good cup of Joe is to be savored. The ambience is effortlessly contemporary but still has the cozy coffee shop feel. The baristas are extremely knowledgful in their craft and super friendly. None of that "What do you want to drink?" accompanied by a blank stare. Their glass beakers and slowly brewed coffee technique all create an exceptional cup of coffee. During the visit, ordered the bacon and egg brioche bun sandwich accompanied by their hazelnut latte. I love that they dont skimp out on their bacon and the siracha ketchup adds to the flavor of the sandwich. The latte was perfectly crafted without the overly syrupy/sugary hazelnut addition like other coffee shops. If youre searching for a good old-fashioned black coffee minus the sugar+milk, their expressos are simply lovely! I cant wait to return to this coffee shop to try their highly regarded expresso shake (expresso with ice cream) and donuts.

Recreational Coffee is a beautiful new little coffee shop with its clean modern design very much in the minimal wood and white trend of coffee right now. They have a small selection of interesting pastries (artisanal donuts), a small tea selection, and a lovely iced latte. The espresso in my latte was smooth and fresh served in a glass to stay, and the teas presentation (green pomegranate by the Art of Tea) was compelling. Id love to return to try their cappuccino. This is a nice addition to this corner of new businesses in downtown LB.

If you want great coffee, stop by Recreational Coffee, this place is amazing. Its got a great interior vibe, rustic and exposed brick and steel. The coffee options are interesting and unique compared to your average coffee shop. The staff have always been helpful and are knowledgeable of the available coffee roasts and brewing methods. Its always a treat stopping and enjoying their latest brew. Highly recommend this place for any coffee lover.

Excellent coffee. Similar in quality to something like Intelligentsia. Something weve needed in Long Beach for a while. Nice interior as well. The only thing Id suggest is longer hours. As of this review they close at 6pm M-R, 7pm F-Su. Id love a place like this for evening reading/studying. But hey, heres the gist: If youve been waiting for good coffee to come to Long Beach, it has arrived!

Ive gotten more consistently amazing coffee here than at any other coffee shop, ever. Seriously, my favorite thing about my apartment is that its three blocks away. The staff & owner are all talented baristas and are excited to talk about the coffee, and the in-house roasted beans are expressive and clean. Long Beach has tons of great coffee, but this place is stellar. Dont miss!

Incredible coffee in a beautiful modern ambiance, with plenty of seating and natural light. Conveniently located in Downtown Long Beach, steps from the blue line metro. Recreationals menu is simple yet interesting, and prices are reasonable. They also have a great selection of locally made vegan donuts, which are some of the best cake donuts I have ever tasted.

I asked for my usual drink I get at other coffee shops, two shots of espresso over ice. The staff said they couldnt make that and could only make an Americano. I said that I didnt like the extra water and just wanted it over ice. I was running late so I just said fine Ill take that. And not too my surprise I didnt like it at all.

Clean place with hipster vibes. Service was great and friendly. Unfortunately, the espresso was weak with little flavor. Only two options for milk in a latte and one option for flavoring. My husband and I both felt like we purchased warmed milk for $9.88. After a few sips each, we had to throw out our drinks.

Happy to find this place because Im early, but even happier to discover that the Almond Chai Latte is only made with Almond Milk. Seems like a no brainer, but Ive been punished before with places that just "top off" with almond milk. Great music selection at a comfortable volume too....

great experience! Multi roaster coffee shop (Case & Portola on Nov.7 2015) with a nice concise menu. Espresso drinks, pour overs, and pastries. Retail slow brew devices & bags of coffee also available. Nice customer service and drink turn around time.

Was a little surprised when I went in here to get a coffee in the early afternoon and was told that they dont serve regular coffee... only coffee drinks and tea. The barista told me that they only have regular coffee in the morning for the "office crowd."

Absolutely the best interior and coffee bar layout in southern Cali, (and Ive been to them all.) Greetings at the door, Perfect coffee/espresso drinks. This place has a very good feeling inside. Worth going out of your way to visit.

Insanely good coffee and moist muffins. Their almond latte is bomb, their chai latte is bomb, and you can sleep in the steam of their teas. Sweet music choices, offbeat modern vibe, and vegan pastry options.

Friendly servers, quality croissants, sandwich (I had the tomato, basil, mozzarella on sourdough) and latte. The decor is in need of some work though. Overall, I would definitely consider returning.
