I was looking for a great place to go for red meat. I took a 40 minute drive out there after reading all the positive reviews. I took my two teenagers with. The place was smaller than expected, but the ambience was fine. I ordered the ribeye, my daughter ordered rack of lamb and my son ordered the shrimp. We had dolmathes for an appetizer, it was great. My son loved his shrimp. In short, everything was great except the red meat. It was super-charred.. not lightly charred, but super-charred. We both ordered our meat medium, but i couldnt even taste any meat because the charcoal-like flavor was overwhelming. I tried to removal some of the black layers, but it didnt help much. My daughters lamb did not fare any better. I asked the waiter, if i asked if this could have been prepared less charred, and he said not really due to the nature of the wood fired grill. Only the filet would have been prepared differently since it is pan-seared. If youre not going for red meat, consider my rating a 5. Or, if you are ok with your steak tasting mostly like charcoal, thats great. Everything else about the place was very positive. But I cannot in good conscience rate this above a 3, because i was hoping for a great place to go for red meat, and i was greatly disappointed. I mean when the plates arrived, both red meat meals looked as if there were oddly shaped chunks of coal on the plates. Ive had a lot of red meat in my life, but never quite this charred. Maybe it was an off night, but i wont be taking the trek out there again in the hopes of enjoying a great steak.

Visited Medusa Grill & Bistro this past weekend, for starters we ordered the Grilled Calamari that is grilled over a wood burning grill. It’s served with a light tomato and pesto sauce which bursts with flavor. Second starter we tried was the white truffle fries which were served with a white truffle aioli, it was good but not worth the $9.50 price tag! For the main course we opted for the Chef’s Choice where you pick meat or seafood or both and the Chef surprises you with a variety of their specialties. If you’ve never been and it’s your first time I think it’s a great way to find your favorites for your following visit. The sampler came with a grilled Grouper which was fantastic! One succulent bay scallop seared to perfection, half of a South African lobster tail, beef tenderloin medallion (super tender, melts in your mouth) and two grilled chicken breasts with their own specialty sauces. Everything was fantastic and would highly recommend giving it a try! Wait I’m not done…..a meal is never finished until you have “Dessert” they have a nice variety of Gelato however we choose “The Fluffy Cheesecake” with a strawberry compote, simply delicious! Drinks: House Old Fashioned made with Brandy, then switched it up with Basil Haden’s Bourbon, both crafted and on point!

As others have said, its not much to look at on the outside, but we gave it a shot. The seating area is small, but cozy, and we didnt mind it, could have been nicer without the bar that takes up a third of the room. Anyways, our appetizer and my wifes food were great. I went with the "Chefs Choice" which really isnt at all what it sounds like, its basically just a combination platter (five different types of meat with mashed potatoes and greens) not really what I expected for the priciest thing, but hey, it tasted good so I wont complain. Where I will complain is the tall waiter we had who was terrible. Ive never felt so looked down upon by a waiter. I get it, my wife and I are much younger than the others, and we werent drinking, but that really isnt an excuse to ignore us while chatting with all of your other tables. You asked us once how our food was, you took our menus without taking our order, you never even said thank you for coming. I would love to know why we deserved such unfair treatment, but that wont happen. I hope others go here, because its good food, but avoid him.

My boyfriend took me for my birthday. The appetizer was great (something like a Greek anti pasta dish with different things to try, including grilled octopus, which was delicious.) We had to ask twice for our second drinks. The entree had a hefty price tag and was a big let down. He ordered grouper and it had no flavor. There was a hunk of buttery cream stuff on top of it, full of calories and fat (DUH.. we are ordering fish) that I guess was supposed to compensate for the fish being so flavorless. My brook trout was only slightly better. We had asked the waiter before ordering if the fish was fresh, and he assured us it was fresh, brought in within 24 hours. We were disappointed. We eat out a lot and were looking forward to something delicious. The final kicker came when after ordering appetizers, drinks, entrees, desert and coffees, our waiter asked us to move to the bar to finish our coffees. We were within minutes of leaving, the check was signed, so his tip was secured. It really turned me off.

Medusa is a hidden little gem in downtown Lake Geneva. The ambiance makes you feel like you transported to a big city without having to fight the horrible traffic to get there. The servers are all in black and have a very sleek ans elegant appearance in their uniforms. Our server Scott was poised and very knowledgeable regarding the menu. He answered all of out questions and made us feel right at home. Chef Greg is seriously a phenomenal chef, and Lake Geneva is incredibly lucky to have him. The steak that my boyfriend ordered at medium rare was cooked absolute perfectly. I couldnt stop asking him if I could have another bite, I would have eaten half of it if he let me. The salmon and lobster tale that I had was delicious as well. I am looking forward to the next meal we have there. Clearly I highly recommend Medusa, you will not be disappointed.

we eat there whenever we have something to celebrate...and are pretty liberal on what constitutes a reason to celebrate....like "its Friday! we have never had a bad or even mediorce meal here....steaks, fish, veal, chicken...all great...and the veggies are the best! My favorite is the the veal...the chef has several excellent treatments...and you can watch him prepare it on the TV over the bar. Medusa also has an excellent wine and beer list....different from the usual Bud Lite / Miller Lite / house cab that you expect / see other places. It can be somewhat of a chore to get a reservation (we probably cant get in 25% of the time) so call ahead...

Where do I start...the giant list of specials screamed amateur which alarmed my party and I since we canceled two other reservations to try this "great restaurant". The grilled calamari app was so charred we could not eat it and when we told the server he argued with us. Next came the enteees: halibut - $38 - no flavor what so over. Pork Marsala - slop covered pork. Vegetarian pasta - a mix of veggies varied in temperature from ice cold to steaming hot on top of over cooked pasta so over salted you needed a gallon of water to eat a bite. Oh and then the ambiance...there was NONE. So dissapppoted.

Our first time at Medusa and the food was fabulous...Our waiter was good at first as we were the first people seated and then when regulars came in we were ignored and we were finished with our meal for awhile and we were goin to have dessert but our waiter took forever and when he came by our table which I thought we could order dessert he said he would be back as soon as he got drink refills for table next to us and then he went and got appetizer for another couple who were regulars..So we decided against dessert and asked for our check...Little disappointed in the service
