This is a wonderful coffeeshop.. Sorry for the guy who had the bad experience.. I found most of the staff very friendly, despite being overworked during the peak hours.. This is without a doubt one of the busiest coffeeshops in all of Seattle. There is a reason for this! BTW.. I had the exact opposite experience as the other guy. One day I forgot to get cash at the ATM and the barista was very polite and friendly and didnt mind me paying my $3 bill with a credit card, which probably forced them to lose most of their profits on my sale, since CC companies charge like $1-3 per transaction. Oh yes.. If you want amazing coffee, look no further! Ballard and Seattle Coffee Works both have some of the best coffee in the Pacific Northwest. Everything they serve in their dispensers has been French Pressed and has a very rich, sweet and smooth flavor. I notice French Pressed coffee done right, such as how Seattle/Ballard Coffee Works, Cafe Vita and others do results in some of best flavored coffee you can get. The prices are reasonable for the coffee as well. You just simply cannot go to a very crowded coffeeshop like this and expect finding the best seat or having a barista wait on you for 5 minutes to be practical. However, when they are less busy, they are some of friendliest baristas I have met in Seattle. The downtown location baristas are also very accommodating and friendly. Also, I have yet to have trouble with anybody being willing to share a table with me during the busy hours if nothing is available. Seattlites need to stop being such introverts and reach out and touch someone. People in Seattle I have learned, despite being shy are very friendly and accommodating. This shows very much at Ballard Coffee Works... If you want to experience a "TRUE" Seattle coffee experience, go to Ballard or Seattle Coffee Works! I look forward to returning again when I am in Ballard.

You know, its funny, I came here the first week I was in Seattle two years ago. Since then I could never remember that first coffee place I went to. I even worked in Ballard the first year and half I lived here. Decided to come here today and a flood of memories came rushing back. I love this place. Its in a great location, has plenty of staying with warm, low light and excellent coffee. Highly recommend as your first specialty coffee experience. I said goodbye to Starbucks a long time ago, (I know, I live in Seattle), but I can never go back. Im in love with small business cafes. Now that I remember this place is here I will definitely return!

Ballard coffeeworks is a Ballard classic. Just a few of their perks: - they "include" tip, meaning youll pay a bit more but you dont have to awkwardly select your tip amount while the cashier and person behind you in line watches - all of the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable - free dog treats for your dog friends - beat vantage point in Ballard is their outdoor bar seating. Do some dog sighting, watch the crowds for the Sunday farmers market, or just do what I do every time and accidentally get a Seattle farmers tan

The coffee here is really very good. I think many others are aware of this because I can never find a seat when I go there, and then I have to go to Starbucks across the street. Other than seating, my only complaint is the guy at the register being really pushy about paying cash. I will pay in the manner that is suits me. Note to owner: society is going paperless. It might be a good time to evaluate you business model to help cover the of the fees associated with doing business.

Only giving this place a two because holy moly the prices are ridiculous! Went in there for a sandwich and bough two. I brought in 14 in cash and thought that would be enough. Nope!! It was over 16 dollars for two measley sandwiches. Thought about giving it a 1 since what the hell are they thinking? The sandwich was ok but not for basically airport prices. What a crock :/. Couldnt even get a drink if I wanted too, had to pay on card! So lame :/ pictures attached of 8.95 sandwich

maybe the best coffee recently tasted ambiance here is good, baked goods not as sold out or poor & limited choices continuously every visit no easy pkng close by, but most people visiting ballard park down by the canal maybe & then walk everywhere last time had this african citrusy aroma drip coffee, just so perfect the house blend version is also so good, simply remarkable and recommended minus the bakery choices , love the anti corporate ambiance

I find the prices fairly comparable to other nearby cafes. But! *This* cafe pays living wages to workers across the business model, including baristas. So, so not tip- there is even a sign explaining this choice. Great quality noms, cool coffee tech for serious coffee heads (great gift options for those who brew at home), and wonderful staff. Love this place.

I must confess I am a coffee snob. Yes I may be in Seattle but that doesnt mean Starbucks is the place to go. I really liked the cold brew and the latte I had. It reminds me of similar when I prepare it for myself. I like the fact they sell green beans if you are into roasting your own coffee. I would recommend a visit if you can.

In a part of town thats changing and growing at an incredible rate, Ballard Coffee Works manages to both serve the growing demand with ever expanding options while maintaining a neighborhood oriented vibe. The staff couldnt be better and the management clearly values empowering their people to make for a great customer experience.

The service here sucks. The baristas are rude and clueless. Today we were using a gift card and when asked for the balance our barista was like "I dont know" and wouldnt do anything to look it up. When asked the difference between the two coffees of the day the barista said "I dont know" and acted completely impatient.

This is one of my favorite coffee shops in Seattle. Love the atmosphere, the coffee and everyone who works there. My only issue is the slow wi-fi, which is a bummer because I would love to use this coffee shop as my daily office (I work from home) but cant - so I always stop by on the weekends.

Great 3rd wave coffee. You can have it just about any way you like: espresso, pour over, chemex, drip, etc. Ive been here countless times, and I"m always a bit dissatisfied with the interior. The space is laid out funny and the seating is often too high or too low for the tables.

This place has some seriously pricey food and coffee, but its Ballard so its not a huge surprise. The cafe is dog-friendly, so Im a fan of just sitting and dogwatching. Its also got that hipster vibe that tends to color most things in Ballard, so take that as either a pro or con.

What a great place! Plenty of seating, from the coffee bar to little booths to cozy armchairs. Not too noisy on a weeknight. My cappuccino was a work of art and tasted perfect. And the best part was the super enthusiastic guy behind the counter just radiating positive energy.
