Re: "Your neighborhood family pub". (NOT) I wont frequent this place and I will be sure to share with my Renton neighbors ( of a decade) of my terrible, terrible experience at this place. They use to be a friendly place but things have been changing. The behavior of the owner " Jeff" was barbarous, brutish, bestial, and savage like when responding to my concern with my food. His "Bartender, Ashley did not know how to handle a food situation gone bad. And when I was not willing to wait another 30 minutes for another order, she started to raise her voice to a new level each time. And started to tower over me like a "big bird."She must have thought this was the way to conduct friendly business. This "mamming bartender" needs to learn to lower her voice and behave like a lady. Which she may never have read that handbook, it seems. Jeff was not interested in the food situation but more in lashing out and loosing control because I no longer wanted to eat there but instead wanted a refund. It was terrible, I had to get the local police ( non - emergency ) involved just to get my money back. In all my time eating at the local places, I have never experienced such (Irrational behavior.) The meal should have been made correct the first time and with customer service. Not yelling and showing feelings of inferiority against a concerned customer. This place will close down soon enough with this type of treatment of customers. Surely. Luckily, we have Melrose place, The Red House, Berliner Pub, and other yummy places with friendly service. Simply if they had offered to adjust the bill for the large inconvenience, it would have worked but her comment was " As a courtesy, I will make you another burger." Excuse me...how is that a courtesy to waste my time while your cooks try to get the order right again. They sent me home with this bad order, it was I that caught it and for $24.00 I expect to get the correct order. Next time I will just go to Dukes or Ruths Chris Steakhouse. They know about customer service.

Let me be succinct. I was threatened, insulted and intimidated by an employee of the Whistle Stop in Renton, WA. Subsequently, I will never return to this establishment. Moreover, I feel compelled to advise potential future patrons to search other fine establishments in the area if they desire a relaxed, enjoyable dining environment. Now I will elaborate. On this particular evening, I bought three beers for my group and tipped 40% on the bill. We were enjoying our beers on the patio in the far corner by the trees, laughing and joking, when I reached into reached into my back pack (not thinking much about the act) and ate, literally, the last 4 bites of a leftover burrito from lunch earlier that day. After a few minutes, we noticed the same bartender whom I tipped nicely walk to our table and stand there for a few seconds, the offending leftover burrito now nothing but a rolled up ball of tinfoil. His body language was menacing and had a distinct “what the hell do you think you are doing” smirk on his face. An awkward silence ensued between us and him. With night club bouncer finesse, he said “Yeahhh, we don’t let people bring in outside food into our restaurant.” Taken aback, I awkwardly apologized and said “Sorry, it won’t happen again”. Let me say it was not his words, but his tone and body language that was so surprisingly rude, threatening and intimidating I felt compelled to post a negative review (my first one for any product or service). If the same message was delivered in a polite, non-threatening manner and I would have gladly returned to my favorite watering hole in the future. Its not like I bought a bucket of KFC and ate it in the dining room and ordered nothing, but I get it - rules are rules. None the less, I felt threatened, insulted and intimidated by your bartender’s tone and will not return. The take away? If you want people to give you thier money, be nice to them. Even when you are informing your patrons of the house rules.

This afternoon my wife and I stopped here for lunch. During two previous trips we had found the food to be slightly better than average. While ordering, my wife asked about the Merlot house wine listed for the price of $6.00 per glass. The server/bartender replied; "Im not sure we have...oh, all right". After receiving the bill, I noted that the price of the requested house Merlot wine was actually billed at $8.99 instead of the $6.00 noted on the menu. When questioned about this, the bartender/server replied that the menu had not yet been changed to reflect the "new" price. No offer was made to adjust the billed price to the advertised price. I consider this to be misleading, deceptive and a ripoff. I will not patronize this place again nor recommend it to anyone.

Nestled in the middle of downtown Renton, Whistle Stop is worth searching for. Ive ordered the ragout several times and its a delicious blend of polenta, mushrooms, onion, garlic, creamy sauce and Im sure Im missing other ingredients...The menu has everything from sandwhiches, burgers, seafood, steak, salads and theyre far from ordinary. The decor is funky with a nod to Jimi Hendrix (art displayed on the wall), its clean and the bar is next to the dining area. There is an outside dining area. Go and enjoy yourself!

Besides a number of EXCELLENT ethnic food restaurants (nan and curry for example) Whistlestop is by far the standout restaurant in Renton. The have awesome bloody marys (sometimes they run out though). They have a lot of good beer on tap. Their lunch food is maybe 4/5 stars in my opinion. Their breakfast is simple, clean, not too heavy on fried garbage. This is a great place for after-work beers, or for Saturday morning bloody marys. The coffee doesnt impress me though.

Went there for breakfast. Food wasnt terrible, but it wasnt good either. Service was decent, but the wait staff wasnt friendly at all. We told some friends wed gone there, and they said, "Food was so so, staff wasnt great, right?" So, its obviously not just us. They recommended we try the Yankee Grill next time instead, if we want to eat breakfast in Renton.

Weve eaten here a number of times since moving to the area last year and have always enjoyed the experience. Just had lunch with my one year old nephew and was blown away with how amazing and accomodating they were with us. Its not always easy for waitstaff and family when young kids are involved and they made it a fun experience. Love the limeade!!

This is a fun location. Yes, its a little kitchy. Its right off downtown Renton. Its easy walking to several places to eat and shop. Their brunch usually has some solid options on it and the menu offers a little something for everyone. The food isnt going to blow you away, but its just solid quality and decent sized portions for the money.

Food was terible. Asked for soft scrambled eggs, got very rubbery ones. Service is horrible. They charge way too much for such service like this. I work in the industry, and pride myself on giving the best service I can. And the food is how my guest like it. STEP YOUR GAME UP, CAUSE YOU GUYS SUCK!!!!!
