Soul Food has been here as long as I have, and despite changing layout, coffee and owners over the years, is as relaxing and enjoyable as ever. The atmosphere inside is unique - I hate to use the word "eclectic" so lets say the feeling is Bohemian, sporting decades if accumulated furniture, artifacts and light sources. The staff are generally super friendly youngsters and the coffee is a step back from aggressively roasted chain beans. The folks behind Soul Food have always been a huge supporter of local arts and community which shows in the locally made merch in their store and the frequently changing art hanging on the walls. My daughter and I had a joint art exhibit here when she was 7 and it was fantastic. Try the house sandwich: turkey or salami and cheese in the pannini grill with chips, affordable and delicious. As a long time visitor I cannot but highly recommend.

Chill hippie coffee place that some may find borders on cheesy. Like: there is a regular Tarot Reader corner, and words like "courage", "tribe" and "sacred space" painted on the walls. They sell all the hippie stuff (food, crystals, candles, zodiac cards, a variety of tea lattes, etc). If you are looking to camp out with plenty of elbow room and not feel like a pariah for occupying table space, this is a great place. It is a nice sprawling layout. Id be happy to become a regular with the aid of headphones.... Kid friendly (aka play corner) and lots lots lots of outlets. I cant say that the food or drink was highly notable/memorable...but you are here for the chill vibe, and is convenient they supply fuel.

I stumbled in here after a long day of wandering around downtown because my companion was complaining about the cold. The moment we walked in the door the books, couches, and coffee greeted us with warmth deeper than mere temperature. We were recommended the oregon mt. blackberry mocha by the darling lady behind the counter, who insisted it wasnt too sweet. It was... amazing, to say the least. Youd think it would taste too syrupy, or too much like berries, but its not-- its the perfect balance of coffee and huckleberry. It was a gentle but bold, low-acidity coffee and the huckleberry had notes of nutmeg in it. Satisfied me to the core. Highly recommend this. HIGHLY.

I alway feel myself calm down as I enter the doors of Soulfood. All the stress and frazzled nerves of the outside world gradually melt away, as I am greeted by friendly staff who know me by name, and ask me how my day/week has been. There are great coffee drinks, and a wide variety of others; as well as other tasty food staples and treats. Variety, quality, and socially aware are words Id use to characterize the items for sale at this unique oasis. Finally, theres always great music being played, whether in the background or on stage. Its hard to say all I want to say in just a few words...it really is an experience you owe it to yourself to check out!

Ive been patronizing this place infrequently for years under various names and I would have given this place 4 or 5 stars in the past, but their service has slipped. The past several times it has taken me 5-10 minutes to get something as simple as a late or even an iced chai. And then they often mess it up. For example (badly) burnt almond milk or in this case my chai was all milk. The atmosphere is great though, although its gotten crowded and there are lots of crystals and other hippieish stuff. I dont really mind though its nice if you just want to have a coffee and pastry. Give stars to the pastries BTW

A great cup of coffee on every visit, along with the calm environment. This is not your run of the mill coffee shop. They have a great little kids play area, lots of seating and power outlets. The food menu is ok, nothing special, but the coffee variety and quality is superlative. Ive been here hundreds of times over the last few years and have introduced this amazing experience to at least 15-20 other people, friends and colleagues. Keep it up SoulFood Coffee !!

As a mom, I can honestly say this place has been a lifesaver for me. Theyre the only coffee shop around that has a kids section. More than just a little table and a couple books, were talking a full wall of kids books, bins of toys and even a chalk board wall for them to color on. My daughter LOVES going to Soulfood (as does her mom, being able to sip some tea and bask in a moment of peace and quiet)! :)

Cozy artsy café with good coffee and tea options. They have a bunch of tables and couches which are ideal to work out of. They also have a store with products like jewelry, spices and oils, incense etc. Small little kids area makes it attractive for parents with toddlers. If you plan to go there more than one, they have a loyalty punch card. Only downside, the restroom is not the cleanest.

None of that snobby coffee house attitude here! This is an awesome space with great coffee and lots of selection. Art, music, books, a kids area and plenty of room to relax. And the staff was incredibly nice. Craig and Taylor were the baristas and made some awesome recommendations!

Soul Food Books along with Urban Coffees two locations, and Mercury Coffee in Woodinville are the 3 best places for great coffee on the east side! If you have a spiritual bent, like poetry readings, drum circles, or eclectic music you want to know about Soul Food Books.

Good place to work. They have a good selection of coffee and tea. It is quite a "hippie" place ... With an unfortunate affinity to a lot of pseudo science and new age mumbo-jumbo. They have live music on certain days off the week. Staff is friendly and nice as well.

I am here from Arizona. I am very pleased!!!!! Staff was so very nice helpful and I will e back. If you live in the area you must try it. I recommend the iced hemp late. The hemp milk makes the drink smother a d creamy. This is the type of place we need more of.

Soul food is the only place I go for coffee now. The coffee is excellent, the staff is fun and friendly and the environment is very eclectic. As far as I know its the only coffee shop in town that offers Hemp milk as an alternative to regular or soy.
