Im a regular that has been going to this cafe for over 6 years. Typically I am recognized by the Staff as I am frequently there on ladies night. Usually I enjoy myself how quiet meal do some people watching and go home. However over last several months Im often ignored when I walk in the door. Or given a table and ignored for several minutes well-the bar which is extremely busy is given Much more attention. As-are the outdoor diners. The food still remains good the wine list has gotten much smaller but since thats my focus I probably notice that versus the beer drinkers. As I was walking out this evening a gentleman walked up to me after calling the cook and an unmentionable name and walking out and he said to me I have been waiting since 8:30 to be served dinner and they didnt serve me anything. It was 9:30 and he had been there an hour same amount of time Ive been. The bar was actually closed before I could order a second drink and there was no last call throughout the restaurant. I can only surmise they had made their money for the night and so serving the rest of the clients in the restaurant was not important . As of late it seems that the bar is taking precedence over any other part of the restaurant. Its often as loud as a dive bar and the people populating it dont seem to care and neither do the Staff. I used to really genuinely enjoy going here for an evening as I am often alone because my partner works out of town. In recent months I have been finding myself going over to the North Bend bar-and-grill Simply because as a single woman dining alone Im treated better. Its really a shame because this is actually my neighborhood restaurant, I used to really enjoy going now I can only hope that the owners can realize that a small population dominates the entire dining experience. And one day they are going to see that in their receipts that people are not returning even for breakfast or any other time because of previous experience. I find myself doing that personally. I hope they can turn it around the staff is usually nice But the management is surely not paying attention to anything but the bottom-line.

Overview: I would expect the experience we had out of a seafood restaurant trailer in Nevada in the Wall-Mart parking lot. Pros: Bread was okay. Napkins were cloth. Silverware was appropriate. Cons: I cant say enough. We came on a cold Sunday night looking for warmth and they sat us in the coldest, out of the way corner in an empty restaurant. The server didnt know what the specials were and suggested a happy hour drink that they couldnt make right. After she told us how it was going to be made (the wrong way) we canceled the order and the bartender (I can only assume) came over with the drink and attempted to make us feel bad for not taking it. How hard is hot chocolate and peppermint schnapps? Instead we ordered a hot apple cider which she assured us they had and mentioned many times. To our (not so) surprise, they were out. We both had water. We ordered the seafood linguini and it came. There were mussels, clams, salmon, and shrimp with stewed tomatoes and fresh (basil?) in a sauce. The clams hadnt been filtered and were sandy. The mussels were okay, (there were three). The salmon was the best part of the dish, but didnt make up for the rest of it. The sauce seemed to be a ladle full of seafood water with a little bit of tomato flavoring. We both left hungry. Were home now and making something edible. I know I missed something here, but there was so much bad it got confusing after a while.

Pros: - Food can be good at times. Especially breakfast. - Nice micro brews on tap Cons: - Food quality inconsistent - Menu is limited - especially in the $10-15 range. Basically you can either buy a $10 burger or get a $25 entree. Not much else in between. - I dont know how to describe atmosphere other than "weird" and just sort of unwelcoming. I sat at the bar a couple of times and the bartender was just kind of "blah" - I felt like the place was for regulars only and I didnt belong. In North Bend, the choice is simple when it comes to bar and grill type food: North Bend Bar & Grill --> Best food and fun atmosphere. Pourhouse --> Great atmosphere, food not so good (I hear Breakfast is good) Jayberrys --> Awesome pizza, best happy hour, atmosphere in bar is good. Boxleys --> I have nothing bad to say about Boxleys, its just not for me. I hear the food is good. Riverbend Cafe --> Maybe breakfast, but for dinner, the above choices win in all categories.

Two words: THE PIE! Two more words; ITS AWESOME! Not quite as good as grandmas, but pretty darn close, and the best Ive had in a restaurant since I can remember. Its made with real fruit and the crust is flaky and light. Ive had the cherry served warm a la mode and the coconut cream (twice). They were both delicious and the coconut cream gives Tom Douglas a run for his money. Ate a late lunch here for the third time in four weeks after hiking in the North Bend area. Ive had the shrimp Louie, tuna melt and halibut and chips (I dont eat meat); fellow diners have tried the patty melt, french onion soup, burgers and other salads. Everything has been tasty although the halibut was my least favorite. The garlic fries with kalamata olive dip are a step up from the regular fries. Kudos to our excellent wait-person with just the right mix of fun attitude and great service; weve never come in a hurry and have enjoyed every visit.

Service was awful tonight, been there twice and will never go back, its like everyone hates working there no one smiles or is friendly. The place really wasnt that busy. The server finally came with the menu and we were starving so we didnt really take time to look at the menu we just ordered burgers and drinks. We had to wait for the drinks they finally came with the meal, the server walked away so fast we had to wave her down to get a glass to pour my bottle of Stella in. My hamburger was bloody raw. The server never came back until she brought the check and asked if I wanted a box I told her I cannot eat raw hamburger. She said I could just pay for the fries and she would take the burger. What? Who docent ask to make it right! We paid for the whole meal took the burger home and cooked it done myself.

It took almost 2 hours for 4 adults and 6 kids to get our food. When we got there the place was almost empty, and we were told it would take 40 minutes to get a table. We asked if we could break into two groups, and the man who I assume is the manager begrudgingly agreed. When were seated we were given no menus, 10 min later, we finally got menus and were given 1 kids menu to share amongst 6 kids. The food was decent, but things were forgotten and we ended up waiting 30 minutes just to get the check. Our waitress, different from who seated us, was pleasant and seemed to be trying her best, but had tables all over and wad spread thin.
