Creating Essence
First off- our server was great. She was busy with us as well as a larger party of 10 that came in after us, and another small party, and still we never lacked for anything and she was very pleasant. The sole reason for the poor rating is the food. VERY over-priced and not good. CERTAINLY not worth the price. My sons kids spaghetti with meat sauce was over cooked mushy pasta in a bowl of red water with chunks of meat on top. My husbands burger was cheap, dry meat topped with a single slice of plastic-like American cheese, and condiments came in packets. The onion rings on top of the burger were floppy, grease-soaked, inedible nonsense, and his fries were a similar grease-soaked mess. He said a burger and fries from Wendys or McDonalds would have taste better and cost 1/4 the price. I had the shrimp fra diavolo over fettucini. A $17 dish that was barely palatable. Over-cooked and rubbery shrimp that tasted like nothing but chlorine, and the chlorine taste overwhelmed the whole dish- including the water-logged pasta. I could SEE crushed red pepper, crushed garlic, and onions, but could not taste any of it. My husband and I worked in the restaurant industry for years so we know exactly what causes such disaster dishes- friers under temp, poor quality ingredients, and par-cooked pasta that is refrigerated all day then tossed in barely steaming water to warm it up for each serving. We will not be back.

We had an early dinner after the Powhatan Festival of Fiber ended early. It was a cold, wet day, but the atmosphere inside was warm and welcoming. Although we did have to wait a minute or two to get seated (for no apparent reason), the rest of our service was impeccable. Our server, Ruth, was friendly and competent. My friend ordered an entrée Greek salad, and I ordered the early bird special of liver and onions. Food was delicious. Our hot tea pots were kept filled. Our only regret is that dinner was so filling, we had no room for dessert. And we had our eye on a strawberry cheesecake shortcake that a previous diner raved about. Two layers of yellow cake sandwiched the strawberry cheesecake...and fresh strawberries. If you arent a local, I think it is worth the drive.

Our waitress was decent and accomodating. The food was generic and overpriced my husband had the ribeye dinner which was not a ribeye, it was a flat frozen box type steak from Murrays or something and was charged as a steakhouse ribeye. I had the shrimp stuffed with Crab, absolutely disgusting. It had a freezer burn taste and I did not finish chewing the first bite. The baked potato was half decent even though it was a three dollar charge to add cheese and bacon bits. Overall experience was a complete letdown we like to eat out and frequent several Italian restaurants, this place will not be on our list again. For a good Italian experience we enjoy Maggianos in short pump or Marias in downtown Petersburg. Sorry guys but you get an F.

First time there and very disappointed!! If you want an overpriced "bubba burger" from Walmart then this is the place. The waitress was horrible. I expected the food to be homecooked country style however it was pre- frozen from a bag. When we got the bill it was a shock to see the extra charge for every little thing and a $3 charge for glass of tea that the waitress didnt keep refilled. Powhatan is great but will not return to this restaurant.

Great local spot in Powhatan for Italain/Greek favorites. Family owned and run. I eat here every Sunday morning for breakfast as they have a good selection of great breakfast plates. Dinner options are great and portion size is what you would expect from a family owned restaruant like this. Casual place with fairly casual pricing. Try and get by the dessert case without your mouth watering. I fail everytime.

Located in the historic quaint town of Powhatan. The restaurant looks like it may have been a home at one point in time. It has a large front porch for dining outside. The food is great and have a good variety of foods to choose from. Great desserts if you like cakes or chess cake. Prices are reasonable. Seats 4 comfortably , but they can accommodate larger parties as well.

My wife and I came here for the past 15 or so years and the food and service has always been terrific I think super size portions. I think Jimmy is a great guy and his staff just compliment the restaurant s a whole. My wife passed away two years ago and I still come alone to enjoy the food and memories we shared. Try it, youll like it, Im sure.

What an awesome place to have supper! Great food, great service, and a great location. Locals have been enjoying for quite some time! This place has great food! Generous portions and fresh food for a very reasonable price. Have been to the Four Seasons dozen or so times and will keep making the drive. Totally worth it! Also, the customer service is exceptional.
