Reasonably priced entrees that are okay in terms of quality but great in terms of portion sizes. I come into this restaurant and I am greeted by a Chinese host who knows English pretty well. First thing I notice is how the restaurant feels kind of divided. The tables for people to eat are located in an L-formation area where there are two parts to the L. The bottom part of the L is one part where people can be seated. And the stick part of the L is another part where people can be seated. It feels like Im separated from the other customers. The restaurant follows a Chinese theme however and looks somewhat classy. This place has a lot of natural lighting coming through their front windows so I can easily see the parking lot. Ive been at a lot of Chinese restaurants and with all this natural lighting, it feels like one of those Chinese restaurants where you can walk straight in, order your food, and get out. Anyways I am seated by the host, given the menu, and I just stare at the menu at the bajillion food options. I stare at the menu for awhile and then finally the waitress finally asks me what I want to drink. She did not look too happy though while asking me. She look a little impatient. Then she takes my order and goes to the back into the kitchen. As I wait for my food theres another lady walking around the restaurant with a cart of dim sums. She go back and forth in the restaurant and it adds a nice little touch to this restaurant. She makes it feel a bit more lively with her energy and just walking around with a cart with food. So the waitress comes back with my drink and food. She periodically checks on my table as well for refills. The food itself is alright. I am not blown away by the quality. The rice however... I cant cook but even I can make better with my rice cooker at home. The vegetables are okay. The meats is just a level above the average Chinese food. The price is around 10-20 dollars. So if I am paying that much for just above average quality Chinese food, what am I getting? Well, Im getting a good lunch/dinner and an okay leftover for tomorrow. The portion size is really big. Two meal size worth.

This is my absolutely FAVORITE Chinese restaurant in town, and I say that as someone who grew up eating authentic Chinese food and who mostly cooks Chinese at home. I have not had a single dish here that I have not liked. I would rate this above Peter Changs, as an AUTHENTIC Chinese taste. (Dont get me wrong, Peter Changs is really delicious, but it is much more of an Asian fusion style than home-cooked Chinese food, which I personally like more.) They have a lot of traditional dishes and traditional ingredients here. If youre unfamiliar with authentic Chinese cooking, I would recommend coming with a friend who is or asking a waiter for advice. This is not the place to go if youre just going to order general tsos or beef and broccoli. If you want the best experience, seriously, try some of the authentic dishes, like the tea-smoked duck, the pork belly, and Chengdu hot pot. They might just surprise you. The soups and dim sum (if you come in time for brunch) is also amazing! I have scoured Richmond for a place such as this (one that served lotus root and pork belly) and was absolutely thrilled when they opened.

First and probably the last visit. Since Queens dim sum place was closed weve tried to find some equal substitution, but both choices Richmond has now are not great ones. FOOD: Chicken legs = B, Beef crepe = C, the only two kinds of steamed dumplings they offered = C, Pineapple bun and sesame balls = B+. We ordered Jasmine tea, received God knows what liquid in the pot with some kind of fishy taste in it. Service was nice but very slow. And we couldnt help but noticing that Asian looking clientele are seated in separate room then the other looking people. Weird. We do not have any wish to come back.

I dont know how this doesnt have better ratings! This is one of my go-to places for yummy spicy Chinese food. This place and Peter Changs are my top two. Cheng du hot pot is spot on. Its a lot of food too, so bring an appetite and a lot of people with you. I never can finish it all in one sitting even with one or two extra people helping. I know its in a strange location and easy to overlook, but I consider it one of the gems of that area. I have had good experiences every time.

Im not sure how the food tastes just yet because i am still waiting after 1.5 hours after order. I ordered online at 11:30am to be delivered which I assumed would be delivered by 12:15. I called at 12:37 to find out that the driver called in sick and wouldnt deliver and I would need to drive there. I arrived at 12:50pm to my food still not ready and it is now 1:05pm and I just got my food. Maybe service is better in the restaurant but I wouldnt recommend ordering online.

I had intended to get dinner at Hogs Head cafe nextdoor, but they are temporarily closed (vacation or renovations?). A big THANK YOU to Hogs Head for being closed, because Im not sure I would have stopped in Cheng Du otherwise and I am so glad I did! The food was absolutely amazing. I wouldnt even say its one of the best Chinese restaurants Ive eaten at, its one of THE best restaurants Ive eaten at!

Great Sichuan Restaurant.... 1. Food is much cheaper than most of the Sichuan restaurants out there. Portions are decently large. Food tastes really well, very authentic. 2. Staff is friend and attentive but not bothering you like crazy. 3. Restaurant is 50% filled on a busy day/night, so theres plenty of room here. 4. Highly recommend this place.

Absolutely terrible. My wife and I couldnt even finish it. We got the general Tso chicken, fried rice, and chicken and broccoli for take out. Everything tasted cheap, rubbery, and completely bland. I feel sick as Im writing this. Really really awful. Idk if it was just a bad night, but this turned me off Chinese food for a long time.

Fans of spicy food will LOVE the authentic Sichuan cuisine here. Large portion sizes, decent prices, friendly service. I especially liked the vegetarian mapo tofu and the eggplant fries. I think the 2-chili items are roughly the "American hot" spice level of the Thai places in town.

Very yummy Chinese! Youre always taking a gamble with a new Chinese place, and Im glad I gave this place a try. Doesnt look like much, but who cares when the food is good! Theyre a tad higher in price for lunch than Im used to, but it was worth it for why I got.
