Ive been going to this place since it opened some 15 years or so ago. The trajectory has been straight downhill. Miserable food, bad attitude: the owner/manager (?) constantly has a cell phone plastered to her ear whether youre trying to order or not. In short, if youre at York River Plaza looking for Chinese, nip into the Food Lion and buy something frozen to cook at home. The Hong Kong is, perhaps, the worst food in Gloucester, and if you live here, you know how bad that can be. These people are simply clueless. Mens room was filthy on the last visit, and it will be the *last* visit. A large portion of very bad food is not a bargain. Cant wait for it to go out of business: hard to imagine a replacement that could be more disgusting. I rate in the "Id rather eat roadkill" category.

me and my family are frequent customers here, and i order the same thing every time. today i ordered my usual (veggie lo mein combo add $2 of shrimp, and change the rice to shrimp fried rice.) we got home to eat our food and i had no shrimp in my lo mein, and only 19 shrimp in the rice(a little less than usual). i called and was yelled at, being told "no i cooked it myself and only put the shrimp in the rice" which wouldve been fine if i hadnt paid for shrimp in the lo mein as well. the she said "no you need to count again theres 30 shrimp in rice." well i counted and theres only 19. she hung up on me. im furious. definitely going to find somewhere else to get my chinese from.

This review is going to be almost entirely based on the quantity, quality, and price of their food as compared to service and shop appearance. They often have 5 or more things on special of which Ill usually pick one, and personally, I cant leave without at least buying 3-4 different menu items! I want to have a wide variety of flavors to choose from as if Im bringing a mini buffet home to myself, and that never usually goes over $20. Im always so pleasantly full and taste buds satisfied, with 2-3 more leftover meals to enjoy the next day as well.

Food is good, but the staff needs a lesson in customer service. They try to rush your ordering process by consistently asking if that is all you want, I have people n my home with food allergies and try to tell them how to prepare the food and they act annoyed every time I ask them to leave onions out of our food. It has gotten tot he point that my husband and I just drive into Newport news or get chines for our children when we are there. I wish there was another Chinese restaurant in the Gloucester area.

I got some lo mein and some crab rangoons here today, and I could tell everything was made fresh. The rangoons were hot, perfectly crispy, and delicious. The lo mein was great, too, and you normally dont have to wait long at all for a take out order.

Yes the bathroom needs to be wiped down, the manager needs to get off the phone and it was on the warm side while we were eating. I do agree however that the portions are very generous and the price is right. Oh and the food was great.

The food isnt too bad and the portions are good sized. But it is an uncomfortable environment. The employees seem rude and unwelcoming. But I am there for "take-out". If you look at it from that perspective.

Used to like eating here until we found a finger nail in our food a few months ago. We called the health department, who went there and spoke with them, but we will not be eating here ever again.
