I have been here 3 times, got something different every time. I love BBQ, but this doesnt hit the spot. Last week the vegetables side was super salty- and after I asked the waiter about it he did say others complained about it because of the new cook who "doubled the salt recipe"- so thats totally understandable. It looked great though, just not edible. The fries never tasted great, I had them as a side each time, although the presentation is great- the fries are dry and cold-ish. Im not sure how it happens, I love any fries, but I never get through even half of these. The main meat I had this last time was the half rack of ribs- the first option on the menu. They were good, a lot of fat on the side, but I worked my way through it. The meat was tender and the sauce was great. Im not saying I expected them to deduct it from the bill since the vegetable side was not good, but I was a little surprised to see it still there. Anyways, the meat is good, the sides are not so great. The atmosphere was nice, staff was nice, thank you for having us. I would like to see more options on the sides menu, but I know that is easier said than done- but Im just expressing my thoughts.

GOOD FOOD 4 GREAT PRICE!! My boyfriend and I are always looking for good local "mom/pop" places to try out and make our new food spot. So we searched the net and he pointed out County Grill; a restaurant he said hed been passing by for YEARS. So we tried it tonite! Looked over the menu online chose the traditional full rack w/ roasted veggies and warm potato salad, smockhouse quesadillas, wings and called the order in for pickup. Only 15minutes like we were told over the phone (plus one) and received a call when the order was ready,on time (plus two). Picked food up from the place (never judge ah book by its cover), front desk girl was very pleasant and sweet. Got food home and first thing we tried was wings, BANGIN FOLKS! BEST SMOKED WINGS EVER, LOVE LOVE LOVEM (plus three, four). Then tried my quesadilla, which was good, like the bacon they added...opened up a little box for ah cornbread surprise, cornbread-BANGIN (PLUS FIVE,SIX). Then we tried the ribs and sides........PLUS SEVEN, EIGHT!! Uhhh, well be back!!

this is just a warning. take it or leave it. I KNOW MY BBQ. Im some what of a Aficionado aka "foody" and got the craft beer gut to prove it. All jokes aside though, terrible. I had the 3 meat platter which consisted of COLD decent tasting ham ( but who cant cook a good ham?) Dry, poorly seasoned ( or season clashing, not sure) chicken which had bbq on it so it was able to be swallowed, and a 2 link sausages ( I was sold the platter as having brisket instead). However the microwavaeble brisket did arrive after being brought to their attention. I then got short changed. $35 ticket, paid $50, change 3 dollars. That was sorted out though luckily( after I brought it to their attention). I did discuss it with the manager and hurried out before anything else could go wrong. Had about the best bottle of ROLLING ROCK Ive had in a while though so it couldve been worse.. Good Luck.

I am a picky eater and dont like to pay money for food that I could cook better at my own home. I work at Fort Monroe and eat out at least once or twice per week. County Grill is one of only a handful of restaurants in Hampton were I will spend my money. The BBQ is absolutely awesome and the portions are huge. County Grill could probably cut their portions and keep their prices the same and still have more business than they could handle. The beef brisket sandwich is out of this world and they give you enough beef brisket that you could make two sandwiches. The waitstaff is fast and friendly and the prices are very good for the quantity and quality of food you get. And, they have the best tasting sweet tea around! You cannot go wrong with eating here and I guarantee if you eat here once, you will become a regular.

It took a little longer than I would like to order drinks but I was ok with that. Afterwards we ordered am appetizer and then a little later we went to order our main course just to find out a number of items were out of stock. I was very irritated that these menu items werent mentioned beforehand because it would have saved a lot of time knowing that basically everything I wanted to order wasnt available and I wouldve went somewhere else sooner. Instead, they tried to charge me for an appetizer that I did not eat and would not have ordered if I was previously aware of the short menu. They did end up taking that off but I still had to pay for the soft drinks even though we only drank 1/3 of them. It probably wouldnt have been so bad if the waitress had some bit of people skills, but at least the manager was pleasant.

We have come here roughly 10-15 times in the past 4 years. Looks wise its not much but dont underestimate this place! The food is great! Id say the BEST BBQ in Hampton roads area (and Ive been to a lot around here!) its a little on the pricey side on selective items BUT they LOAD your plate up!! They have 5-6 flavors of homemade BBQ sauce all of which are yummy! The warm potato salad and collard greens are AMAZING!! This place is a must! Ive never received bad service in all the times Ive been here and never been disappointed! Weve always been seated right away with no wait time and staff are very friendly. I live 45 mins away but I have no issue spending hours in traffic to get here, always worth the drive and worth the price!

I love the food here, went about 10:30pm. The hostess/ waitress was helpful but apparently tired, didnt smile, even seemed annoyed that my husband and I could not make up our minds and I felt rushed. Another waitress proceeded to prance around doing nothing hugging other apparent workers or regular customers.very unprofessional for her. I asked a young man folding napkins what time they closed he said 2pm.. because the waitress had rushed us I thought they were about to cloae.I was told there were no pickles but my husband found two on his burger.....hummmm strange... I will go earlier or not at all...i have sent people here and told my co-workers what a great place this is... did I make a miatake...

Really good home style bbq. Our server was super nice. I had brisket, chicken, ribs, collards, and Mac and cheese. My wife had a sandwich with brisket, pulled pork and coleslaw. Pulling up we were like where the heck are we. The neighborhood behind the restaurant had old sofas and other junk around and the restaurant itself was just plain and gave no indication of the goodness thats inside. I cant say enough how much I recommend that you try this spot out. Most times when we try a new restaurant we go away thinking "we will be hitting McDonalds later" not the case here. Good bbq and plenty of it. Come give them a try.

I was visiting town for a wedding and a friend from the area recommended this place. I was a bit hesitant, because Im vegetarian, but my boyfriend loves barbecue so we decided to give it a try. He was very happy with their quality of meat and selection of homemade sauces. I was able to get a salad and mashed potatoes, and I was impressed by their high quality ingredients. They gave me REAL romaine lettuce, not that iceberg garbage. Tasted very fresh and delicious. Our server was Andrew, and he was great. Prices were very reasonable for the quality/quantity. If were ever in the area again, Im sure well come back.
