We were seated quickly, despite the place being almost packed. The wait staff was pleasant and we had high hopes for the food. The order taking process took about 25min., not horrible with the amount of people in the shack. The experience took a dive in when the appetizer came out. I would imagine a restaurant that specializes in seafood would have palatable fried clams; I was wrong, if I had peeled the crust off they would be a worthy substitute for rubber bullets. For the main event, we ordered snow crab legs, shrimp trio and fish tacos. The food came out a little too quickly, which immediately lowered my expectations. The snow crab legs were obviously frozen, over cooked and had most probably been sitting in warm water to keep them ready to serve. The shrimp were not deveined and they were over cooked. The Mahi Mahi for the tacos was the closest to being acceptably cooked; it still had some moisture left in it. The tortillas were obviously store bought, and horribly mistreated. The flavor of the hushpupies could have been good had they been cooked well. I would guess that the sweet potato fries were the same ones you would find in the frozen section of your local grocery store, but not cooked as well as you would make them at home. The one redeeming item, perhaps the only edible one, was the coleslaw; it got two stars.

Last night was my first and I will say my last time there. Our waitress Michelle was an absolute nightmare with a MAJOR attitude problem. We had started a bar tab when we were called to be seated. She informed me that she couldnt transfer the tab over, and told me that I could go take care of it. The CORRECT thing should have been that she bring the tab to me. Customer Service 101. The 2 sides my Fiancé ordered were brought to the table 20 MINUTES before the meal. The catfish was oily and overcooked. The "premium" Mac and cheese was absolutely God awful, bland and tasteless. I could cook better in my sleep! When I brought up the issues with the food, she told me "Weve been here 38 years, so we must be doing something right". Sorry, but if you want to make it to 40, start training your wait staff to be courteous, add some flavor to your food, and stop making the excuse that "we have a very small kitchen"! Small kitchens do not mean poor quality!

Awesome, fresh seafood, and great service. Our server, Karen was beyond friendly and helpful. She made us feel like we were the only customers in a busy establishment. The FRESH seafood was incredible from presentation to mouth watering bite. I had a combination plate with fish, scallops, shrimp, clams, hush puppies, and one of the best crab cakes Ive ever had. My wife had the full Maine lobster and enjoyed every bite. To highly recommend this restaurant would be an understatement. If youre in the area or even 1500 miles away, stop in for an amazing meal and great service.

This was our 2nd year in a row that we chose to celebrate our anniversary. Pros: The snow crab legs were wonderful! Watching the staff at work, looks like they enjoy working there...camaraderie was apparent. Theres a shabby-chic beachy ambiance that makes this place fun. Cons: Had to send the hush puppies back and request some that werent burnt. Bring a jacket with you because both times I nearly froze it was so cold inside, and this was in August! Was surprised that no "fuss" was made about it being our 30th anniversary, which I did mention when we came in...oh well.

Just went on 9/1 after having read other reviews. It was just as described, a VERY casual atmosphere. There are picnic tables on one side of the restaurant and regular tables on the other side. Theres also outdoor seating available if its a nice day. It looks a bit old, but not dirty. However, the prices and the quality of seafood are actually pretty impressive. I had the old-bay spiced shrimp dinner and the portion was HUGE. The shrimp were absolutely awesome and bigger than my thumb. Couldnt have asked for a better answer to my seafood craving. Go check it out!

A family run business they try to keep it fresh. Dont expect modern decor, just picknic benches, however that makes it real. I love the food, we have been eating here for years and have never been dissappointed. The lobster was great and the crabcakes are always good. Donna the owner always comes around to chat and that is part of what makes this family operation work. I know they care about the business and are not some corporate chain who doesnt. I Love it and you will to.

Off of Route 29, I have passed by this place many times and wondered why the parking lot was so full. After going here, I see why people keep coming back. Seafood in a dive like atmosphere with reasonable prices. Walking in it feels like you are entering someones porch entrance. It is not fancy, but comfortable like a home. The outdoor seating with mixed umbrellas and tables is perfect for eating crabs and drinking beer. My favorite are the Garlic & Butter Crabs.

Excellent service, very friendly. Fast delivery of my order. Everything was very fresh. The scallops were perfect, not over cooked; they melted in my mouth like butter. No sauces required because the flavors were extremely fresh. For seafood in this area, I would call the price average and the portion size normal. Easy to find this establishment right off of Hwy 29. Highly visible signs from both directions. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I was told 3 hours earlier that my party of 11 would be seated when we arrived, however when we arrived we were made to wait over an hour and when we asked if we were able to be seated soon we were reprimanded that our group was too big. If we had been let known that earlier, we couldve made different arraignments. This is an awful place for seafood and for family dinner.

They offer good seafood at a reasonable price with a great family environment. The wait staff are very courteous and attentive. The blue crab appears to be a popular choice among customers. I recommend getting the pick 2 or pick 3. Ive tried the Snow Crab, Spiced Shrimp, Crab Cakes and Soft Shelled Crab. They are all good.

You go to Blue Ridge for the food...its the freshest seafood you will get in the area. The prices can not be beat. Its beach style in that you eat at picnic tables covered in paper. Supplies come in a bucket, you put on your bib, and eat crabs with your hands. If youre expecting fine dinning then youll be out of sorts.

Mediocre at best. Half of the food was good, the other half, not so much. Crab imperial tasted like burnt plastic, baked potato needed to be thrown out instead of being cooked. Small portion sizes and high prices. Friendly staff at least. Way too busy for the location and the building looks questionable on the outside.
