My wife and I found the BBQ Shack through google maps on our way back to Ohio from the OBX. We each had the brisket, green beans and Mac n cheese. The sides were on point, however, that slow cooked brisket was the best BBQ Brisket Ive had in my life.... Better than Texas, St. Louis, Memphis BBQs. Get the Macdaddy, its worth the drive and quick detour if you are traveling. Locals, I envy you.

Everything tasted great! Brisket was tender & juicy, but without all the fat- all meat. Collards were sweet & tangy with just a bit of spice. I usually have to add vinegar & hotsauce myself, but these were already seasoned perfectly! Mac & cheese was gooey. I like my noodles more al dente, but this was still really good. I will be coming back!

I have been here several times, coming all the way from Newport News. This place is a small family owned joint, they have the best pulled pork BBQ I have ever tasted. Service is friendly, atmosphere is homely( in a good way), seating is limited....the ONLY bad thing I can say about this place is that they dont have one in Newport News...lol

The best mom and pop BBQ in the area. Portions could be bigger, but the taste of the BBQ will keep you coming back. The buster boy with cheese is my favorite, pulled pork topped with brisket and cheese. It cant get any better than that. Very limited seating, so plan on getting your order to go.

The bbq here is amazing and full of flavor. My favorite is the smoked turkey breast and brisket but what I absolutely loved was the cornbread. It was not like any cornbread Ive ever had...slightly sweet and had a cake texture...I ate it like it was dessert!! The sauces are great too!

Got lost a little bit and found this place. Oh my gosh. Brisket is tender and you can take the smoke all the way through the turkey. Went to taste it in the car and ate the whole before driving off. The worst part of the whole experience was that I found out they close at 5

Omg the buster boy I got off of another review posted here and he was right its to die for. Highly recommend. Baked beans and sweet corn bread and Mac n cheese. Next time I will try the collard greens. Yum. A must barbq place

Fantastic place for lunch! Fills up quickly from at lunch time and seating is limited. Friday they do ribs (until they sell out) and they are glorious. Seriously, you would be hard pressed to make them this good yourself.

Serious competitor for best BBQ in Hampton Roads! Dont miss an opportunity to check this place out. The Beef Brisket is hands down the best in the area. Get there early because they run out of food pretty quick.
