OVERVIEW We went here instead of the Mandarin, on a Saturday evening, we had about a 15 minute wait time because of the size of our party, (7 people). They said they were waiting for a table to clear out so they could scoot two tables together, but in the end they put us in their private dining area. LOCATION They were down a side street that could be easy to miss. PRICE I found the price a little steep compared to the typical cheap Chinese food I buy. I got the Pineapple Chicken for $9.95 plus tax. PRODUCT/SERVICE I ordered the Pineapple Chicken in the Family thing-a-ma-jig, which included one egg roll, cheese wonton, and some kind of breaded shrimp. Service was good, the waiter made sure my drink was always full. EMPLOYEES The employee was great, I forgot his name already, but did have a bit of an accent, but still served us well, and was very patient with our confusing questions about the meals, prices, etc.

Joy Luck is my absolute favorite restaurant and my chinese food of choice. I cant get enough of it. Im a local and I have been going there for years. I would recommend it to anyone that loves chinese food. I would go there daily if I could afford it and if my health could handle it. Dont listen to the negative reviews (there are not many). I have had less than stellar experiences a few times, but I have gone there enough to know its rare when they have bad service and it happens everywhere. Yes they get busy, so try to avoid peak times if possible. However, you wont be disappointed. For those that say its not worth the price, have you been elsewhere? There are plenty of places that charge a lot more for much less quality and food. The lunch menu is the very best for price vs quantity of food. Its cheaper than fast food and SO much better. Do yourself a favor and eat at Joy Luck.

Large party (17). Service was very good, but one entre arrived about 20 minutes after every one elses. Royal family order had 5 individual entres + Bo Bo platters. $17/per person. Price seemed high to me. Tasted every one; sadly disappointed. Flavorless pepper beef, moo goo kai pan, tangerine chicken, Gen Tso chicken. Only almond chicken had no breading, but was difficult to pick out any vegetables that had any thing edible. It wasnt worth the doggy bag, but wanted the rice. Only the chicken curry had flavor, but it was chicken "Indian flavoured"; we had ordered beef curry. Special birthday occasion was a bummer! Sad, because the birthday lunch we had there in May was quite good. Wasnt my choice, but went for a family ocassion. Blah

Joy Luck has great food! After being diagnosed with Celiacs Disease last year I stayed away from Chinese food because some Chinese restaurants give you what they want regardless of what you ordered (ie. being presented with carry out and hearing "We dont got pork, you take chicken." @@ So we ventured out to Joy Luck last night and discussed the GF situation and they were so kind and already knowledgeable on everything GF in their restaurant. They checked on us a couple times to make sure we were happy with everything, and we really were. It was so good I was in disbelief that it was GF. Some things are marked GF, but everything except Lo Mein and Chow Mein noodles can be made GF if you ask. Thanks for a great experience!!

Not impressed. Upped prices in store but not website. One item and they charged us the higher in-store price for pick-up. $8.55 to over $11.00. Called in to order take-out on Sunday PM, 11/30/14. Ordered from on-line menu for an $8.55 item due to an "emergency need for Chinese". One item and it comes with steamed white rice only. Okay. So then I was informed it would be over $11.00. Prices had gone UP but no one had updated the website. So our one item with steamed white rice only was now going to be over $11.00 Sure hope its good. Because it was an emergency and they were the only game in town. Never been there before and probably wont go back.

I mistakenly ordered the wrong dish (almond chicken instead of my wifes favorite - orange chicken). I didnt realize my mistake for a few minutes. When I asked if I could switch my order, the host said it would be no problem. When my takeout order came out, apparently they had already cooked the almond chicken and he just gave it to us and said it was on the house. When I asked if I could leave a tip, he just told me to have a nice night. My family and I have always enjoyed this restaurant. Good food, good service, and good prices. Thanks Joy Luck.

We went here with a large group for a special event. We had a reserved room. The food was decent if not a tad bit expensive for the quantity offered. However the service was some of the worst Ive ever had. For a group of over 30, 2 wait staff isnt enough. Then to have them be rude and inattentive is beyond excuse. I was busy dealing with the group and my wife had to talk to the manager to rectify the situation and even then it barely helped. The mediocre food isnt worth the poor service.

I like it here a lot; been coming for years. I usually come for lunch as their specials cant be beat. The price is spot on, it includes a drink and its the exact right amount for lunch (no leftovers to feel guilty about leaving, or have to schlep back to the office). My husband and I like to come here for dinner sometimes too. Its clean and the staff is attentive, but they dont hover. Just realized on this last trip that they serve beer, wine and Sake! Who knew?!

My family and I love Joy Luck! We enjoy chinese cuisine but its particularly hard to find a restaurant thats consistently good. The dishes are always fresh (my favorite is green beans with beef in black bean sauce, my wife loves their lemon chicken) and the service is attentive without being overbearing. We dine at Joy Luck frequently; excellent for dates, entertaining guests and special occasions.

My family and I enjoy eating at Joyluck. The food is above average. The soups are really good and high quality. We like trying the variety of specials they craft up (ie: Thai salmon, lemon halibut, etc). Our kids enjoy eating here because of the environment and their large fish tank. I would recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for a decent meal for a fair price.

Ive been going to Joy Luck for years, reasonable pricing, good food, friendly staff. In the years I lived in the South Davis County area, if someone says Chinese food, Joy Luck is what comes to mind! Ive been to other Chinese food joints around the area, many have come and gone, but Joy Luck remains the same and that is a great thing.
