No matter how nice the theater, that does not matter if you are double-booked in reserve seating and the show is sold out. We were double booked in the reserve seating at opening midnight show of The Hobbit. Big disappointment for me and my son. My 7th grade son put a reminder in his cell phone back in October for the November pre-sale of The Hobbit. He surprisingly got approval from his Mom to see a midnight movie on a school night. I said ok. After all, this was The Hobbit. Shortly after the pre-sale started in November, a month before the movie, we went to the Silverado box office in person and got two reserve tickets. The night of the show, we arrived at the theater at about 11:30 pm. No rush. After all, we had reserved seating. My son brought his Bilbo/Frodo plastic sword he got he was 5 years old. We had 30 minutes so we ordered some pricey theater food including the $5 coke. I would never just pay that price and eat theater food but will do so if seeing a movie. We finished eating, and walked to the IMAX theater, was handed the 3D glasses, and given posters (which was cool). We showed the usher our tickets. A nearby manager overheard me say the seat numbers and ask to see the tickets and seemed puzzled. He took the tickets and said he would be right back. While waiting, I glanced at seats J16 and J17, and saw people sitting in our seats. The manager returned and said those seats were double booked. The only empty seats available were obstructed view. Other than guiding us to the obstructed view seats, the manager was very professional and nice. I liked him and he had a calming effect. A good reflection on Santikos Silverado. I wish I could remember his name. We declined the obstructed view seats and left the theater. He gave us two free passes and walked us to the box office, and offered in addition to the free passes to get us into another show of The Hobbit, either that night or another date. We chose seats J18 and J19 for the next day Friday 10:45 pm. My son was devastated. I thought afterwards that the only compensation we received was the two passes which essentially paid for the small amount of pricey theater food and the $5 coke we would have never normally purchased without seeing a movie. Thus, really, no compensation for being up late on a school night (without seeing the IMAX movie), and no compensation for the huge disappointment. Lastly, I have been purchasing reserve seating for decades at plays, sporting events, concerts, family shows, etc., and have never shown up at the event and there be other patrons having the same ticket seats as me. No ticketing system is perfect obviously, but this glitch in the ticketing system used by Santikos will prevent me from ever returning to Silverado. While me and my son have gone to Silverado on a regular basis, that will stop. Silverado has been our theater of choice, but now do not want to risk having again that incredibly negative experience of being double booked in a reserved seat. I would rather go to a theater that did not have reserve seating than go to one with reserve seating and a faulty ticketing system. The manager said the best guess was that someone else had purchased the tickets at the exact same time as ours were purchased. Whatever the glitch, I will give Santikos Silverado a couple of years to work it out. AMC is actually closer to where I live. Plus, have Movie Tavern.

This place is amazing, Its all cinema so theres no cheap food. The technology on the other hand is amazing. Silverado 19 has the latest and always up to date technology in movie projection and audio systems, and is always first to get new technology to improve the experience. If you dont care much and would rather pay a whole lot cheaper price and see it in lower like A LOT lower quality than you should go to Alamo Draft House or maybe AMC.. This place is a movie enthusiast place as it offers many events and deals like seeing every Star Wars movie in order in their best projection for one flat rate cheap price. They also do like dress up as your favorite character for movies that have big franchises (Star Wars,Etc). They have a basic food amount and is quite expensive but nothing to ruin the experience as they do have soda machines that give a high large variety of drinks to choose. The movie theater is kept highly clean and doesent smell or anything and staff are friendly and understanding and have a professional uniform and look. (Trust me the uniform matters). I would highly suggest this place to almost everyone who likes seeing big franchise releases such as Star Wars,Avengers, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. (And other good movies). If you dont really care and just watch movies on TV or only watch movies in the cheapest way as possible in the movie theater (Not caring much on technology) than this movie theater is not for you. I would also like to say that a Santikos reward card is good to have as you will usually spend around 20-30 Dollars on the movie and food and drinks. (For 2 people) For only 1 person youll probably only spend around 13-25 Dollars for a snack, drink, and quality theater experience (UAVX,AND DOLBY ATMOS). Edit: The theater was just bought by some company, this theater is absolutely terrible now and now their is no difference between this and your local crappy AMC. The tickets are highly overpriced, and they removed all the technology I mentioned in my review above. Very sad to see an amazing theater die just for the greed for the parent company. I honestly thought this theater was the best theater in America, NOT ANYMORE.

Went to check out the movie The Martian in the 3D ATMOS theater last night. I paid a premium price to watch the movie with 3D glasses that made the movie a horrible experience. The attendant who was passing out the glasses in front of theater 18 gave me a pair of glasses missing the small but most important nose pad piece. Since he was the same one that knew about the problem but didnt check the glasses he handed me leaves me wondering (but more on that in a moment). I sat through the whole movie wearing these big clunky glasses (most of the time holding them just off my face as they were causing a stinging pain to my nose) not realizing in a dark theater that the tiny nose pad was missing. The glasses also made the movie look darker than I thought they should have, which lessened the experience. After the movie I handed the 3D glasses back to the attendant, and saw how that pair was different from the other pairs sitting on his cart, realizing there was a small pad piece missing from my pair, leaving several small sharp notches exposed (now I know why my nose stung). When I pointed it out to him, he made the comment that they were looking at replacing them, that for some reason people love to take them home ????? What that had to do with my particular complaint Ill never know. As I walked away extremely annoyed, he was busy putting a new nose pad on the glasses I had handed to him. If this is a known problem, why didnt he check them before handing them to me in the first place, if his only job is to stand there handing out 3D glasses??? There were plenty on the cart, not like I got the last pair. Was it intentional, or lack of oversight, again I ll never know. Ive never had a problem with the cheaper, recyclable 3D glasses used at a competing chain Theater, Ive enjoyed those 3D movies a LOT more.
