Ive been going to this place for years! Their food is delicious and at a good price. There are 1 or 2 wait staff that are not really friendly and always rush you but for the most part, the rest are wonderful! Especially Miguel and Joshling. I walk in and they already know what I want. I even had a standing order with Miguel - he would save me a serving of my favorite dish because it always sells out. I had medical problems for 3 or 4 months and they actually got worried for me because they didnt see my face once a week. First time I could drive, I called and placed an order for my usual. Miguel and Joshling immediately recognized my order and called me back asking if I was Ms. Crawford because they hadnt seen me in a while! Now thats customer service! They have heart and are awesome servers! I would have given Avalon Diner 5 stars except for the fact that they have started closing at 4 pm and most of the time, I get my order around 5. They are closing too early - Im sure other people feel the same.

Avalon Diner is my neighborhood fail-safe. Good food, great prices, and pleasant service with a smile each and every time. Any place that serves breakfast all day, every day automatically gets a gold star in my book, but being able to order turkey or smoked beef sausage is gold medal worthy! I wish more breakfast places in Houston would realize that they could appeal to a larger market by offering non-pork meat options for breakfast, besides the obligatory steak and eggs combo. The only complaint is that the blue plate specials are hit and miss on whats available by the time you order. Im not mad that they only make a certain amount of food each day, but geez, mac and cheese should be prepared in bulk at all times. In any case, Avalon Diner for breakfast, lunch, and dinner is a sure bet.

Waitress could only focus on 1 table at a time. Being attentive in coffee refills was a fail. Making sure of having utensils to eat with was a fail. After 2 minutes of eating, we received our bill right away. With this action, I knew that no refills are to come and for us to hurry up and finish and go home. I still tipped $2.11 to just round up my total bill. Zero should have been left as tip. Observed other waitress to serve refills to all her tables. Food was good, atmosphere good, This service...gets a Hell No! Server: Good 9:30am table 52/1 3/30024

I called to place an order for the first time without the knowledge of them not taking over the phone orders for the school that I attended and got hanged up on... I felt that was extremely rude and still went to the diner just to get attitude and cut off when talking, from the waitress upfront... I understand you are defending your manager but wrong is wrong... the manager did end up apologizing after I came up and spoke to them but I still feel like they need better customer service for folks that cause no harm when they visit their diner.

This may be our familys new favorite places to eat. Heres what we had: Philly Cheesesteak omelet. Wow. Cheesy, steaky goodness. Big salad with grilled chicken. Delicious chicken. Blue plated fried chicken, mac n cheese and peach cobbler. Yummy. Incredible seasoning. Cobbler was warm and inviting. Kids Silver dollar pancakes. Yummy. Good portions. Chicken finger basket. This was a surprising highlight. Probably the best fingers weve ever had. (at least from chickens). Cant wait to try more.

We come often, after attending church and have always had good food and friendly service. Today we came in and waited 45 minutes for our breakfast.. a girl finally apologized for the wait and said the tickets were all mixed up. She asked us to repeat our order... I think the problem was the lack of a lead chef (cook) in the kitchen. (Gordon Ramsay sees this problem frequently on his TV program)... We saw no staff member over 30... they needed an adult on the premises...

Came here on a New Years Day, so take our experience with slow food delivery with a grain of salt. Apparently the entire restaurant arrived at the same time and put orders in, backing up the kitchen for 45 or so minutes. That left a lot of hangry, slightly hungover people waiting. Our waitress was as nice as she could be and apologetic, and I didnt see anyone give their staff a hard time. The whole restaurant did fall silent as the food finally arrived. It was worth it.

Jennifer, Jennifer, Jennifer! You will always get good service regardless of your server but if Jennifer is working ask for her because she will give you exceptional service every single time. She always goes out of her way to make sure you have the best experience possible. Service is quick as well even on busy weekends. The food is fantastic and the portions are just right as well as the pricing.

After waiting 20 minutes for someone to take our order and watching the wait staff walk past our table numerous times we decided to leave. Then they were ready to take our order but that was a little to late. It was not a busy time so I dont understand. Not sure if we will try again as there seems to be a lot of reviews that talk about bad service.

Good is only ever ok besides shakes. This time I went with an hour to eat and they werent busy. But after waiting 10 mins to order drinks, 5 more to get them and they wouldnt take order, and then another 15 waiting for someone to take my order, I gave up. Nobody doing their job and avoiding eye contact with customers. Terrible service.

I love this place for a nice family breakfast. I would have given 5 stars but they have limited ability to seat you if you need a highchair and a couple with a young child before us eventually left because they were tired of waiting. We had out 13 month old with us and almost did the same thing. Other than that its a great place to be.

If you love crispy bacon, you have to come here. Its perfectly crispy and never burned. Once youre seated the service is great, but getting a table can take a while on weekend mornings. 4 stars because management needs to work on a few things like training, but the wait staff, especially the tenured servers, are excellent.

Went there for the first time a few days ago. Service was great. My wife and I each had a milk shake which were wonderful! She had a grilled club chicken sandwhich and fries. I had chicken and dumplings and the baked squash and collard greens. The baked squash was amazing! For diner type food, this place is great!

Havent been in a while and decided to drop in for some food. Well service was very slow although it wasnt busy. They had a "gentleman" replacing light bulbs not even a foot away on a ladder. I got the Patty Melt and the rye bread was way over toasted (black). My daughters food wasnt great either. Wont be back.

They have excellent food at decent prices bit the staff is what sets this diner apart from the others. Courtney waited on me and she was the best. Very attentive and courteous. I will come back and definitely would recommend this place to anyone who wants a great experience from start to finish.
