IMPORTANT NOTE: This location is nestled in the downtown Houston tunnel across from the Starbucks and Murphys Deli, below the Texas Commerce Building. My husband and I both had the grilled vegetable salad with grilled fajita chicken added. The salad consists of grilled veggies (onions, zucchini, squash, mushrooms, and carrots) served on a bed of chopped iceburg lettuce, all piled inside of a big fried tortilla "bowl" (which was a little on the greasy side, for my liking). The salad also had diced tomatoes tossed in...not sure if those were grilled though...didnt appear to be. The salad comes with either a honey lime balsamic dressing or a jalapeno ranch dressing. Any of the taco meat selections can be added for an additional $2.25. Not bad, considering the veggie salad without any additions is only $5.99. Its a rather large portion too. I had the balsamic dressing, which was good. My husband had the ranch dressing, which he said was delicious. SALAD RATING: 8/10 (I wouldve rated higher if the grilled fajita chicken (additional charge) wouldve been more flavorful and seasoned better. It was rather bland. It wasnt dry, which is a plus! The "bowl" was a little too greasy too. I wouldve liked for the salad to have included some other lettuce greens in addition to the iceburg. That change alone would make a better tasting, better looking, and better quality salad.) We also ordered some homemade chips and guacamole. Both were delicious, perfectly seasoned and ample portion! However...its a bit overpriced. The chips & guacamole with tax was close to $5. To me, thats at least $1 over what it should be. CHIPS RATING: 10/10 (taste and portion) GUACAMOLE RATING: 10/10 (taste and portion) The soda fountain has only two "common" soft drinks (Coke and Diet Coke). The other drink selections are some of those real cane sugar trendy sodas...very tasty! Those offered include a mango soda, cherry soda, root beer, and a lemonade. I tried the root beer, which was great. My husband tasted the mango soda and the lemonade...both were delicious. SOFT DRINK RATING: 10/10 for being unique with soft drinks that actually taste good! :) SERVICE: 7/10 The ordering took longer than it should because the person working the register seems to be untrained or poorly trained. VERY SLOW. The person seemed unfamiliar with that position...perhaps shes new? My husband and I visited when it was not busy. I couldnt imagine this person working the register and placing the orders when its a lunch rush. It also took a bit longer than expected to get our food considering the fact that we were 2 of maybe 8 people waiting on food. The delay wasnt extreme, but something to make note of, in case youre in a rush. From my own experience, between the time it took to place our order, combined with waiting on our food, it took 30 minutes. On the upside, they offer To-Go call ahead ordering and online ordering too!

When I first started eating here I was coming 4 to 5 times a week and always got the breakfast tacos. Every time I swiped my card it was 20+ dollars for myself and my fiancé (I eat a lot) that was actually very cheap. I then had a bad experience that made me not want to eat there anymore due to sanitation which this post is not about. After that issue it took some time for me to go back and I found the food quality to have gone back up. So, I frequented the heights location once again. I then noticed the significant variation in size of the tacos and lack of consistency with ingredients from ordering to go vs ordering in. That upset me a bit but an employee that was always there made sure to take care of me and correct the issues where he could (Alan is his name). Alan is the sole reason I never wrote this review that has been waiting to be written. He now is almost never there and the consistency is getting worse than its ever been. Tonight I lost it and want to convey my upmost disappointment that the tacos I received for my to go order were not only small, they were half the size as the normally are! Mind you, half the size, and the prices since I started eating there have gone up by close to a dollar per taco. I understand that sometimes food costs go up and in the event that happens the price should raise, that is fine. However when your fiancé orders a breakfast taco with two ingredients (black bean and egg) and I order a taco with 4 ingredients (double the ingredients which I pay MORE for) and I get tacos that are half the size as hers, I have to say something and I have to let it be known that I demand a response from the owner. I have spent countless dollars and this has happened countless times. I want to know what she is going to do to keep me as a customer... On a final note, the "quality of food" is the only thing I would ever go back for. Thats why it gets 1 star

Man! I just LOVE tacos. Especially breakfast tacos, but Im becoming more of a lunch/dinner taco person all thanks Tacos a Go-Go. The first time I went in this place, I was hit with the smell of spices and lime. Ive never truly had a legit traditional tex-mex taco, and this place has just that but with an added flair. The Tacos al Pastor are the bomb. How much flavor can pork absorb? Well more than your mother made you with her weekly, dried out, oregano pork-chop. The onions and sauce are spicy, sweet, and savory and the pork pieces are so moist. Bacon was my pork savior for a long time, but now the Pastor is my tastebuds preferred pork. Veggie tacos are lame-sounding for sure, but the Verde taco at this place is my go-to taco. The squash, carrot, zucchini, portabello, and onion veggie medley is meaty, crunchy, and satisfying. The black beans are garlicky and soft, adding a nice contrast to the veggies. THEN, it is topped with a spicy tomatoey mayo-like sauce which ties all of the flavors and textures together. I recently ordered a veggie taco when I was visiting my sister in Charleston, SC, and I was not impressed. The Verde is the best of the best! All of the salsas are delicious, too, and are complimentary to any of their tacos. I like the green one on the Pastor and the chipotle spicy one on the veggie. Just writing this review makes me want Tacos a Go-Go. Oh, and dont forget, you can order over the interweb and pick up your food 10 minutes later. Dont forget to add a Jarritos or Mexican Coke to that!

This place trumps any other late night food any day. Actually, I take that back, this place trumps all food all day. As a former Chachos connoisseur turned Tacos A Go-Go late-night fan, I have been trying to convert the rest of my friends to this Virgin Mary statued establishment. Because we dont really go out in the area, it usually proves difficult to make it in time before it closes, but I finally convinced my friends to leave the bar early that night and promised them delicious and heavenly food ahead. And thats exactly what we got. We couldnt get enough of the chicken fajita tacos and their avocado sauce is to die for (I always make sure to ask for extra). The carne guisada taco is also one of my favorites as the meat is so juicy and flavorful. The barbacoa and pollo guisado tacos are pretty good too. Though Ive had quite a few of their tacos, Ive actually never had their breakfast tacos which theyre known for. However, from all of the awards on the wall for their breakfast tacos, I assume that they have to be delicious. The only bad thing I would have to say about Tacos A Go-Go is that they close too early on Friday and Saturday nights. Yes, I realize that 2 AM is pretty late, but when bars and clubs close at 2, and I might be coming from Midtown or Washington, it proves difficult to make it all the way here in time. Please stay open just 30 minutes later, Tacos A Go-Go!? Please?
