This was by far the worst service Ive ever had. On top of the worst service, after looking at pictures online my friends and I realized they did not even serve us our entire meal. We notice the pictures online had extra sides that we not brought to our table. We waited at our dirty table as we saw people get waited on and served (people who arrived after we had) before we even got a menu (which we had to ask for from other people who had menus because the waitress never brought them). After about 30 - 45 minutes a waitress had to be called to begrudgingly take our order and never again were we asked if we needed anything else. We all ordered sake and only had one water to share between the three of us (they never brought tea or the other water we ordered). We had to ask for utensils (because we couldnt eat the soup we ordered with chopsticks. Which is the only thing we could grab at the bar counter ourselves). When we got our food they did not bring sides. We had to get up and go to the front counter to ask for them. We never got any rice. We had to go up and get our ticket at the front counter (because again we NEVER had a staff come to our table after we ordered). Will never try this place again unless the staff is replaced!!!!

Price is acceptable if you dont add any proteins; meats, which they charge more. I had spicy seafood noodle, they warned me it is spicy. Yes it was, but I was disappointed because of the ingredients they used. The veges were fresh, but the seafood were tiny and not fresh. They used thin ramyun like noodle, which was over cooked and dissolved in my soup. The Japchae was cheap, and fresh, but missing the flavor. Hot stone bowl bibimbob was same. If you are looking for a cheap quick Korean "style" food, this is the place to go, but if you are looking for REAL authentic Korean food, this is not the place. I give 4 stars because it is nice, clean, and neat restaurant with good customer service. They have a parking garage up stairs, they can punch the ticket for you to get the free parking, so bring your parking ticket. I only hope the cook learns better recipes.

Im very fond of Hoya Korean Kitchen. I love their bibimbap, spicy dishes, mandu and house sake specials (their happy hour in general is wicked). Ive tried pork, beef and chicken in several different dishes, and theyre always cooked just right. They also offer fish and tofu as proteins, and offer many different kinds of vegetables, so it accommodates pretty much every palette out there. The staff is very friendly, the service is relaxed and the food is well-seasoned and incredibly tasty. Korean food is hard to find, and this is a very delicious take on it. Ive been four times, and will keep coming back for more! Parking tip: There is a pay-to-park parking lot just west of Hoya, and typically there are a few street-side parking spots available as well. The street-side parking is free after 5pm on weekdays and after 6pm on weekends.

I cannot recommend this for dinner. Lunch is fine, but the inept dinner service is a total miss. I dined at Hoya for dinner yesterday with a party of six. There were several other parties also dining. There was one cook and one server who were both very young. The cook was not interested or able to complete the entire meal service simultaneously. As a result, meals were served 30 minutes apart. When I asked the server to address the issue she was not able to communicate the issue to the cook who was clearly out of his league. There was no manager present, so there was no one in charge. The server also messed up the check - too many drinks. Food was okay. Wouldnt recommend ordering anything other than a rice bowl as the cook seemed unable to prepare anything else correctly.

Im half Korean, and always like to try Korean restaurants to see if anything can remind me of "Moms". Found Hoya right after they opened, and eat there for lunch at least once a week when not traveling. The kimchi is AWESOME - fresh and spicy. Love the spicy pork bibimbap - always get the traditional veggies. Fried rice is good and even though the dumplings are not handmade fresh, some of the best Ive had. Ownership has changed, and the menu ever so slightly, but still great. This is not your traditional sit down with banchan on the side (tho you can get them added to your meals), but the owners are Korean, make most of the foods fresh every day, and I can get fresh, fast, inexpensive Korean that keeps me from missing Moms!

Hoya Korean Kitchen is pretty good. Absolutely worth checking out. I had an udon noodle bowl with spicy pork and kimchi. The kimchi was just right, not to spicy, and the noodles were cooked well. Swing by during rush time to get the freshest food! The restaurant is an order at the counter, pick up your food style place. You can do take out if youre picking up lunch downtown, or you can eat there (Think Chipotle, or Five Guys). The prices are within reason (my bowl cost $7.54), and the portions are adequate. Enough that if you eat a noodle bowl you should finish it and be satisfied. I recommend going, and I will be revisiting.

I have had at least six entrees and numerous sides here. Everything has been fresh and tasty! Now, I find myself craving their delicious Bibimpap. The staff is excellent at what they do. I may have to force myself to keep sampling the entrees, because I may still find something I like, even more; though, I dont see how that is possible. Still -- I am willing to tackle this culinary endeavour, just for curiositys sake! And perhaps reward myself every other visit with more Bibimbap!

Great food. But they werent lying when they said spicy chicken on the menu haha. It was great, but need some water to cool down my mouth. Overall I was surprised by the freshness of the food. Cool location and great happy hour. The girl working the counter convinced me to try a spicy fermented cabbage side dish (cant remember what its called) but Im so glad I ordered it! Very nice experience overall. Would recommend to anyone looking for a casual meal.

I ordered the seafood pancake (haemul pajun) and the kimchi stew (kimchi chige). Both were excellent. The seafood pancake was full of seafood (shrimp, squid etc.) and the kimchi stew was savory and aromatic and dense with kimchi, tofu, onions, pork, and hot in temperature being cooked in the bowl. The side dishes served with the meal, a good assortment of kimchi and vegetables, were all excellent. Staff was pleasant and the bill was accurate.

Service was terrible. The waitress literally walked away from our table right in the middle of placing a drink order for no apparent reason. She toiled around the dining area for about 5 minutes, never came back and eventually left the room to go outside at which time we also left. There was only one other couple in the restaurant. As we walked out they told us we made a good decision. Very poor customer service. She must have seen a squirrel.

Overpriced (10 dollars for instant ramen) food that takes much too long to get to you. It is overly salty and oily to boot and does not include sides like most Korean places. Could make the defense that is is comfort food and easily available, but again it is very pricy for what is on offer. You can do a lot better for Korean elsewhere.
