Wish we could give this place no stars. We just were married on 9/17/16 and Booked Pawleys Island Bakery to do our wedding cake. We booked it a year out, then followed up 3 months out, then followed up 1 month out, then followed up 2 weeks out and the week of. Every time they assured us they have never missed a wedding cake and was almost offended by us asking. During the week of the wedding the wedding planner confirmed as well with no problems. The owner Max assured us we would have a wonderful cake the day of our wedding delivered to Our Charleston venue. One hour before the wedding we get notified there will be no wedding cake because pawleys island bakery forgot. With everything that had occurred we were hugely upset because one they assured us it would be done and second we will never get to cut our wedding cake along with the one year anniversary cake cutting. The worst thing about it all is the owner is denying he had any contact with us when we have confirmed emails from him and his bakery, nor any apology.

My two teenage sons and I were in Myrtle Beach August 2013 and took a day trip to Charleston. On our way, we found this bakery. It doesnt look like much from the outside. Its in a small strip mall with a tiny parking lot and is next to a seafood shop. There is really no signage to grab your attention. We went in and were blown away by the selection and quality of the product in the case. We tried the magic bar, a lemon bar, chocolate chip cookies, an eclair and an apple fritter. Everything was outstanding and every crumb consumed! We ate in our car in the lot but realized that attached to the bakery is a little dining area with plenty of tables and chairs. If you get to Pawleys, try this place. It looks like a drive by but it is definitely worth the stop.

We (three adults ages 24-38) are visiting from Asheville and ordered a Margarita Pizza tonight from Pawleys Pizza. I love pizza, even Dominos pizza, but I was hoping for something better than Dominos. Not only was it worse than Dominos, it was absolutely the WORST pizza I have ever had...nearly flavorless with a scant smattering of cooked tomatoes (not fresh as advertised); no fresh (or dried) basil as advertised; and a flavorless, soggy/limp, too-thin crust (too thin given the non-crispy style crust) with a consistency more like cheap dinner rolls than pizza crust. I would avoid Pawleys Pizza like the Plague as it had not one single redeeming feature, including the manager’s response when I called to give him feedback.

My wife and I bought cupcakes from here for our wedding over 4 years ago. We now make this place a traditional stop during our anniversary trip to where we honeymooned. Each year we get a few things, mostly whatever jumps out at the counter. This year we had a salted caramel cupcake, some sort of cinnamon crunch muffin, and a piece of strawberry shortcake. We split these items up over the course of the day as they were wonderfully rich and decadent. Each item was more delicious than the last and these sweet treats are a perfect reason for me to watch my diet the rest of the year, just so I can partake at Pawleys Island Bakery!

Pawleys Island Bakery did our wedding cake (on short notice as well) and it was exactly what I wanted. The colors matched my bridesmaids perfectly and the white chocolate seashells were great. My cake was the only thing in my wedding that was easy to plan and Max made me feel taken care of. The cake was perfect, and people went back for seconds!! We over-ordered and it was still gone at the end of the day. Highly recommended. - Caitlyn

Not bad, not great. Customer service is lacking, which for me, at any establishment, is a big turn off. Also, quite expensive, but its in an expensive neighborhood. Right around or slightly over a $1 for their small cookies - thats per cookie. Donuts are just as expensive. However; other than their local grocery market, its probably the only gig in town. Try it if you can put up with the staff and costs!

Max and his crew make the most delicious wedding cake for both of my daughters weddings last year. Both were unique to them and was exactly what each one wanted and many of the guests went back for 2nds (and I suspect 3rds as well). They are very accommodating and open to ideas and suggestions. Best bakery on the coast! Betsy Altman

BEST BAKERY EVER!!! Every thing that comes from this bakery is WONDERFUL!. I have ordered several cakes for various ocassions and they have all been outstanding both in taste and decoration. The soups are great and the Reeses Peanut Butter cookie has put 10 lbs on me easy.

Great coffee, cool atmosphere, nice staff. In case there was any question whether or not the baked goods were made in-house, the whole place is filled with the most amazing smell of donuts, muffins, cakes, etc.... Go at least once!!!

Clean, friendly staff. Great breakfast sandwiches. The desserts look better than they taste and are pricey. The cupcakes, fritters and cinnamon rolls were dry .. Like day old. Very disappointing.

Donuts are good but they leave them sitting out so a fly, dust or any germ from a cough could land on them,,they really need to cover things, dries out the donut too.
