Often when I write a review I question should I review the place based on what it is or what it could be. For Simply Southern I decided you have to rate it based on what it is, because its name says it all. It is Simply Southern. Simple BBQ. A buffet with simple but good BBQ (although the ribs could be warmer). Simple drinks. $1 each. Grab a cup and fill your own. Simple decor. Want a fancy restaurant? This aint it. Nice and clean but nothing that will excite you. Simple location. Not on the main strip but close enough that its not a hassle to get there. Prices are good. Food is good. Establishment is good. Youll walk away happy but not excited. Finally, I always end my reviews of restaurants with "Will I go there again?" Probably not. Why 4 stars but I probably wouldnt return? The truth of the matter is that Myrtle Beach is a tourist location. Tourists want tourist attractions and restaurants fall into that category. There is too much competition in the area to warrant a return trip to this restaurant during a vacation. As a local, maybe my opinion would differ. Still a nice place, give it a try if youre in the area and hungry but dont make a special trip just to eat here.

Food was pretty good. I wasnt able to try the other items thanks to the long line. Only one line for the people returning and first coming in. You have to try and cut in front of them and its met with hostility and being told to get behind them no matter how polite you are trying to explain I already have table and have paid..WHY ISNT THERE 2 LINES?!? I dont understand the one roped off area for people returning and people coming in and you have to CUT in front of people waiting for a table who dont understand..and of course no staff around to explain the process to them so I could get in front of them.. Terrible!! Not rocket science unless its done on purpose to discourage people from getting seconds. I wont be back. I left hungry after trying for over 1/2 hour, 3 times to get a second plate. Save yourself the hassle and go elsewhere. Also the so called famous singing Issac.. Annoying. I wanted dinner not to be made to feel I was in church choir.

This buffet is not as large as most others in Myrtle Beach, and it does not have as much variety, however the food and service are EXCELLENT. Food is well prepared and tasty. The meats for the evening were fried chicken (of course), barbecue chicken, pulled pork and barbecue ribs. The salad bar was delightful and the salad was very fresh and crisp. Honestly, it was one of the best salads I have ever had. The dessert bar was disappointing as you only had the options of ice cream and pudding, but at $10 bucks a person, you really cant complain. Also, be prepared to be entertained. This is a family style restaurant, and staff goes out of their way to make balloon animals and head pieces for the children. There is one delightful staff member there who cleans tables at lightning speed and sings in a beautiful baritone voice. Give this place a try.

This place was amazing. I cant believe I found it by just Googling it. It was super inexpensive. The hospitality was terrific from the moment we walked in the door until we left. Isaac, the Busboy/Singer/Balloon Artist, etc, etc, etc was motivational to watch and be in the presence of.There is no way you could go there and not smile and feel uplifted. But now the food--We had picky kids and adults of all ages. And not one thing was complained about. It was honest to goodness real home cooked food. I think the best fried chicken ever! Try the mac n cheese, real mashed potatoes, corn bead, collard greens and banana pudding. You may as well go hungry and try it all. I really dont think you will be disappointed. You may have to wait about 20 minutes to get in the door and get to your table. So worth it. YUM!

Amazing! We have been to other southern style restaurants and they have been ok/meh. This restaurant was so clean, fresh, delicious, there are no words. From the servers offering great "hidden beach" tips and breaking out into soulful song, to the baker that offered my son a togo box of peach cobbler because he loved it so much ("mom this stuff makes my heart happy.") this place is top notch. Wear your Sunday best or your flip-flops and shorts and you will feel at home. This place does not have mermaids, is not water side and has no celebrity endorsement like many other restaurants in the area, but when you are done paying for bad food with a draw, come here warm your soul and save room for an extra helping of sweet potato pie.

We went to this place last night. I found it before we left home and wanted to try it as my husband loves BBQ. I was so glad we went there. After a short wait in line for a table we were seated and able to get some food. My one year old gobbled up the mac and cheese faster than Ive ever seen him do. Hes been a very picky eater lately but he loved the food. He even ate the green beans and the tomatoes and okra. Everything was amazing and I really loved the sweet potatoe soufflé! Definitely a must try for anyone coming into Myrtle Beach, you wont be disappointed. Oh, the price is so low too. We paid $25 for the three of us because babies eat free. Amazing! We will definitely be back on our next vacation.

Went on a Thursday evening at 6:30 for dinner. We had to wait about 20 minutes to get inside, but we didnt have anything else going on so we waited. The owner greeted us at the door and was full of energy and so kind. Once we had paid for our party of 3, we were given a table number and allowed to get the buffet of food. The food was phenomenal! Everything was fresh and hot. There were plenty of options for anyone. While the buffet is all you can eat, as the dinner crowd rolls in the buffet line gets long. The awesome part is that they have servers willing to grab another plate for you! We left very well fed and our spirits lifted! Definitely make time for a trip to this restaurant.

Being from the snowy north, I rarely had a chance to eat food from the south. Now that I live in Myrtle Beach, I have developed a slight addiction to it. Simply Southern is the very best food around right now. The buffet style and classical southern cuisine are second to none and really just have to be had for yourself. The staff are friendly and if theyre not busy will talk to you or even sing a song! This is by and far our favorite place to eat at the beach for lunch, with family, with those who have stars upon thars, and even those that have not! Seriously, everyone here loves theyre job and the food is incredible. If you have the chance to try it out, DO!

My family and I had dinner here while we vacationed at Myrtle Beach, we asked our cleaning lady for the best place in town to eat good southern cooking. Simply Southern was her suggestion and I can happily say she was very correct... the staff was extremely friendly, the old southern gospel music that the staff would start singing was fun and the food was by far one of the best meals we ate while in the area. They had a good variety of food on the buffet and the price was lower than we expected after a few other places we had tried. My only regret was not finding out the name of the spicy red gravy they had for the rice it was excellent.
