After reading some reviews we were hesitant to go but since every other recommendation had resulted in at best slightly above average pizza, we figured what the hell. This is a review for the Old Chicago Pizza and Taproom In Garden City SC. Upon arriving we were taken to a table to be seated. While standing there we realized several booths were empty and asked to be seated at one instead of the table we were standing beside. The young lady must have been new because she simply raised her eybrows and walked back to the hostess stand and spoke to the host. After standing there awkwardly for a couple of minutes we were getting ready to leave when a waitress asked us what was up and then quickly seated us in a nearby booth. We were on the verge of leaving and what a mistake that would have been. Our server Becca was fantastic and with her efficiency and friendliness we soon dismissed the hostess issues as just new employees. Becca made multiple suggestions on food and beers that all were spot on delicious and perfect for us. We ordered 3 appetizers; the Buffalo Chicken Rolls, the Artichoke Dip and the Itialin Pizza Rolls ( I may have the name wrong but think pizza meets cinnamon roll) and all three were fantastic! All three were also at the suggestion of our server. Becca also suggested beers and ciders for us to sample but not being beer lovers we had our doubts. However again, her suggestions were perfect for us. We sampled the HeBrew Messiah, the Puple Haze Cider and a Rasberry cider (at least I think it was Rasberry) each of the three were great and had we been drinking that evening we would have drank multiple of each Now the best part; the deep dish pizza is without a doubt the best we have eaten in the Grand Strand area. If you like deep dish pizza you need to try it at this location. Now Im not sure its exactly the Chicago style I was hoping for but still we left with every intention of going back anytime we are in the area. And we will ask for Becca to wait on us. Highly recommend this place!

No stars! I ordered pizza over the phone and was told it would be ready in 30 minutes. That was quite the experience in itself so I dont know why I was surprised when I got there and the order had not been placed. It did not seem to affect Courtney who responded "oh I was busy and forgot to put it in." The worker next to her said "oh what did you want Ill place the order." Considering I had company at home waiting to be fed and groceries melting in the car I asked how long I would have to wait. I was assured it would be no longer than 15 minutes, that a rush would be put on the order since they messed up. 35 minutes later the pizza comes out, and out the door I go. When I realized that the order was wrong, and the pizza was warm not hot, I turned my car around and ask them to refund my credit card. The cost of the pizza was $43 and change, they return to me $36 and change. When I told them that I wanted the full amount refunded we had to go through two managers to figure it out, and they never did! They handed me back three extra dollars, and $30 in unsigned coupons to use at a later date. No one said I am sorry but only "I understand". They still owe me $1.09. I really dont care about their coupons because I would never go back. I own a business currently, and Ive owned a restaurant. Here is my tip. Put your best people up front, tell your staff not to complain in front of customers, and say you are sorry when you make a mistake. When you mess up give the customer priority and dont mess up a second time by getting the order wrong. Check in the kitchen before it comes out and is handed to the customer. I put my order in at 5:45 pm, and two hours later I was still without for dinner for my company.

We are locals, and we honestly had a great experience the first time we went opening week. This is our second time coming here, and it almost felt like a whole different restaurant. When we walked in, we were seating almost immediately. We were asked if we wanted a table or booth, so we said we wanted a booth. The host had to go into the restaurant to see if there were any available, apologized that there werent any booths, and we were seated at a table instead. Our waitress came over after a few minutes and told us that she didnt know who our waitress was supposed to be, and said "I guess Ill serve you". We placed our order: an appetizer, pizza and a mac n grilled cheese. The appetizer itself took about 20 minutes to come out, and the server hurriedly put it on the table as he was passing by. It was lukewarm, which is confusing for something that was supposed to be deep fried. It took another 30 minutes to get the entrees (sandwich and pizza). The sandwich and fries were cold, and the pizza was lukewarm. The server didnt offer us plates for our pizza, so we had to ask a different waitress for plates after waiting about 10 minutes for our own waitress. We barely saw our waitress through the whole meal.

Have mixed opinions about the restaurant. Have visited 6 times now and have had a couple good experiences and a few not so good. This time was horribly disappointing ! couple times the service was outstanding, food was great and prompt. a few times service lacked knowledge or charisma at all, and food mediocre . i made an order to go this time and was aware of their recent close an hour earlier time. i get to the place to pick up in the pouring rain only to find the door locked , it is 1/2 hour before close, could see my order sitting on the bar , and not a soul in sight or hearing distance. ( and yes i beat on the door ) after i called them to question whether i get my order , and long story short, manager comped my meal. sadly it was like eating 2 day old frozen viola and rubbery garlic bread. as always the mango wings were awesome. so I think my take on this place is this.... If you want beer and wings, GREAT place !!!! If you want a dinner with the family casual eating out adventure... Go somewhere else !!! Too pricey for much past the beer and wings.

Me and my family ate there July 8th. We asked for a highchair, we were seated at a booth that they would not allow a highchair. We said no problem we can deal with it. The service here is very poor. Me and my son needed a refill on our beverage, we waited 10 min for the waitress to come back to us, still no big deal we are easy going and understand people are busy and trying there best most of the time. Our pizza got to our table, I used a fork to cut the pizza and there was a piece of plastic on the bottom of the pizza, I made the staff aware. The said it was form the packaging of the dough. It was about the size of a silver dollar. The "manager" came by and acknowledged that there was a piece of plastic on the bottom of pizza, and asked if the pizza was good. It was actually pretty good and we ate the pizza. I assumed that we would get compensation of the poor experience. Can you believe that they did nothing not even a percentage off. Someone needs some major training there, if I owned that place I would not be happy. Food was good service was horrible!
