I never post negative reviews, but DO NOT GO HERE. There is a very competent Kroger right beside it. My aunt, sister, and I thought a burger place might be a little faster than cooking. We go in, we order, and it was THIRTY SIX DOLLARS for three very small burgers, two fries, and two drinks. I got my burger and it didnt look too hot, so I briefly touched it. I very kindly asked if they could heat it back up. I got it, and it was still cold. I walked up to the counter, and asked the second time to heat it back up. The manager of someone or authority told me it just came off the grill and there is no way its cold and was arguing with me insisting its hot instead of just taking it back. Instead of putting it back on the grill, they took it to the back and did God knows what to my burger out of spite. Then put it back on the grill for me to see. I have to go to the doctor now from food poisoning from whatever they did to my burger. One guy even made a comment about my sisters boobs. Worst customer service Ive ever had, and the tiny burger was not worth my hospital visit Ill be going to bill to them.

I called to place an order, but was put on hold for too long. I walked in and there was another customer complaining about how slow the service had been when he apparently ordered ahead of time. Meanwhile 4 or 5 staff members were just hanging out outside doing nothing. The manager that took my order didnt seem to care and was quite rude. After I placed my order I came back up to the counter to inquire about their protein milkshakes, but was promptly ignored by the staff. I realized their milkshake was made with crickets protein powder (actual crickets in powder form) and lost interest. As I picked up my order to go the staff member said "Sorry for the wait bro." I thought that was unprofessional and that he should not bro me if he did not know me. Overall your money would be better spent elsewhere.

Friendly and competent staff provided excellent customer service. Restaurant is clean and bright. Good menu. Reasonably priced for the area. The food was very tasty and all in our group loved their shakes. Restroom was clean and the hand soap was pleasant, not industrial. No one wants to eat with a cheap, chemical smell on their hands. Wayback exceeded my expectations for its category. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a tasty, inexpensive, fuss-free meal in a pleasant setting. Because it is located in Shelter Cove there is a wide variety of other things to do (shop, play, stroll, etc) before and after your meal without getting back in your car.

Awesome Food and the Service here outstanding! The owner Scott is usually there working behind the counter and constantly is going out into the dinning area to check on the customers! Youll also see his wife working behind the counter also during the week. Hes worked hard at getting the crew that he has too! Ive been coming down to Hilton Head Island for years. Whenever we want burgers or a hotdog. We always come here!! Its definitely a family atmosphere here for sure. We live in Greenville SC, but we stay in Hilton Head Island 6 months out of the year. You definitely wont regret coming here for lunch or dinner. They also have breakfast there also!

I built my own burger with yellow American cheese, grilled and raw onions, tomatoes, lettuce, bacon, pickles and mayonnaise. It was quite tasty. I like the smashed burgers, they maintain their juiciness. The fries were hot and delicious and the place had some Cajun seasoning to sprinkle on it. I did not like the fact that the bacon wasnt fresh cooked with the order nor were the grilled onions. Id consider leaving the bacon off next time. The creamy ranch was also pretty horrible. Overall, the place was good and I would go again if Im in the area. We had a typical wait time for a fresh cooked burger and fries.

Wayback Burgers is a traditional burger-and-shake restaurant with a throwback-to-the-fifties vibe. WB offers hamburgers, melts, hot dogs, fries, mac and cheese bites, and, of course, shakes and malts! WB even has a veggie option for those of you who are strictly herbivores. :D While I dont believe the burgers are quite as good as other options (like Wendys and Five Guys), WB makes a mean shake (in a junior or huge "regular" size--the last two times I went, I thoroughly enjoyed a chocolate banana and a coffee shake (not both during the same visit, mind you!).

So underwhelming. For the price $15 for two burgers, 1 fry and 1 soft drink its way over priced. Burger seemed like it came from the grocery store freezer, same for the cheese, bun had no flavor and the french fries were about the same as Wendys. Speaking of Wendys a much better value for my dollars. Even 5 Guys beats this place hands down. In addition, the service was slow and inattentive at best and most of the tables not clean. We wont go back.

Pretty good! Kind of like a Five Guys vibe. We never got to try a shake because we were so full from the burgers! Had the Cheesy. It was delicious, the cheese is some sort of American/Cheese Whiz combo. The grilled bun made it different from other chains. Service was very good. There was a very nice lady clearing trash and trays from tables the whole time. Cashier was little less than helpful, but it was fine. Would definitely come back.

Utterly disgusted by the fact I watched the "undoubtably foul" employee handle money, on several occasions, with his plastic gloves and then continue to touch and handle food. To wait for 20 minutes and pay 14.00 for a milkshake that tasted like chemicals and a burger so greasy that it was inedible. my strongest opinion to all to eat anywhere else but way back burger

Incredibly overpriced, soggy, mushy burgers with absolutely no flavor. Four bucks for an order of fries. Milkshakes made with chemicals and cheap ice cream - way overpriced at $4.50. Paid $26 for two burgers an order of fries and a milkshake. Do yourself a favor, find the closest Wendys and run, dont walk to it!

Pretty straight forward burger joint. Counter ordering and brought quickly to your table by the staff. Great, freshly made burgers. Place was clean & staff friendly and fast. Good milkshakes. Would go there again & would recommend to someone looking for a good, fast, family friendly burger place!

Complete disaster. We waited over 30 minutes for our meal and found out that it had not even been started yet. We were one of 3 people tonight waiting in line to get a refund when we finally had enough and left. Skip this shipwreck and go somewhere else to spare your sanity!

Food was ok. Service was lacking. Atmosphere was enjoyable. Only real complaint: food was brought out 3 different times, and one food item was brought out wrong. Through about 15 minutes, our sides, drinks, and main were brought out abut 3 different times.
