I am writing to air my complaints about the very poor and rude service that my family received at Family Ties in Tiverton, RI on January 7th. Having waitressed all my life, I know very well the dos and donts of the restaurant business. I do my best to care of our guests, and ensure that they have a pleasurable dining experience. To begin, the 4 of us sat for dinner. Shortly after ordering, my parents called to see what we were doing and we told them we were checking out Family Ties for the first time and asked them if they would like to meet us there. They agreed. We let the waitress know that we were expecting 2 more guests, and would appreciate it if there was any way they could sit with us or near us. The waitress suggested that we drag over a chair. At the time, a small table directly next to our table was available. When the 2 other guests arrived, they came over to say “hi” and we said we would drag a chair over so that we could eat together, per the recommendation of our waitress. They said that they didn’t mind sitting at their own table because it would be uncomfortable to squeeze into the booth with us. Meanwhile, the guests who had JUST been seated at the small table next to us overheard our conversation and INSISTED that they move to another table so that we could all sit together comfortably. We thanked them and they moved to another table. We moved the table about 2 feet over to the left so it would be right next to our booth. Let me add that we were in the back corner of the restaurant. We were not blocking any walkways, any other tables, or even a fire exit. Once our 2 guest were seated, comfortable, and ready to order the owner came over and rudely asked that we squeeze into the “6 person booth” so he could seat a party of 4 that was waiting for that table. For those of you who have never been, or have been to Family Ties, these “6 person booths” can really only fit 4 adults comfortably. The owner basically ripped the table out from under his guests. The owner managed to disrupt a nice Friday night out for my friends and family (how ironic that he names his business “Family” Ties). He drove away 2 customers who were already seated and ready to order, only to move the table back over the 2 feet and seat TWO people there before my 2 guests could even grab their personal belongings from the table. The restaurant was steadily busy, but there were plenty of open tables, including a “6 person booth” behind us in which they sat ONE person. In my experience, the owner of a restaurant comes to your table to ask how everything is and to see if there is anything that they can do to make your experience at their restaurant a more positive one. This was by far the most horrible customer service experience I have ever witnessed. The ordeal was embarrassing for all involved. If you want a nice family dinner experience in town where you will be treated as a guest and not a number, I suggest Stone Bridge Restaurant or Nonni’s. I get the feeling that all Family Ties is concerned with is cramming people in and making as much money as possible. It’s not about the happiness of their guests and being sure to provide a nice family dining experience as they so claim to do. We will be sure to never recommend Family Ties as a good local place to eat and we will never go back there again.

I have lived in Tiverton since 2004 and Family Ties was my regular "go to" place. On 10/23/16, I went there after church as I regularly do. It wasnt too crazy busy so I was seated quite quickly. I waited and no wait person came to my table. I waited close to 20 minutes and saw other people, who came after me have their orders taken & coffee brought to their tables. I counted 4 tables. I left and informed the hostess why I was leaving & just got a "sorry". I never felt so disrespected and was so disappointed in them. I did comment on their website but still have not heard back from the owner. This experience has me looking for a new "go to" place that will at least acknowledge my existence and my business. I think their name should be changed as they dont treat their customers like family.

Great food, great quality and large portions. Establishment is kept very tidy and clean. Very friendly staff. You get more than your moneys worth!! So good its always packed and owners have to keep expanding, already mived location to expand and has made several expansions to the parking to accommodate with amount of customers. Also its my family, lol... My Uncle David & Aunt Sally own it. Dave is my fathers brother. I dont just say these wonderful things because my family owns it cause anyone who knows my family knows we are of honest people and if i didnt like it i would say so!! I HIGHLY RECCOMEND, YOULL SEE FOR YOURSELF

On May 18 Our Daughter and Son in law took us out to eat to Family ties for dinner We all had different meals I ordered Large clam plate with fries and had coffee. Well I will not ever order coffee at this est. again If I ever eat here But that is not my complaint The clam plate came and I found a onion ring that was comical but then I found the remnants of a potato that looked like it was swept off the floor this upset my stomach and all I could think about was the sloppy way they must operate there Kitchen. Ps the rest of the food was good Mine Sucked

Hands-down, our favorite restaurant in Tiverton, RI and that includes the fancy-schmancy places on the water. Better food, way better prices and a laid back, congenial atmosphere. Family dining is in the front, in back theres a full bar with some 4 stool high tops for those who want to have a bite to eat. Its a shame that I cant take Dave and his excellent restaurant back to Florida with me when I head south for the winter. Yes, folks, Family Ties is really that good!

Im from the south and saw that they had biscuits and gravy but was a little nervous about ordering it in New England. I would totally order it again! My waiter was awesome, and when I asked if Id be able to catch some gators football games there, he said that if they were being aired locally hed be happy to put them on for me. Will definitely be returning!

The service at Family Ties is splendid. The cozy atmosphere and delicious food keeps me and my family coming back for more! Since they moved to the larger builing, the menu has expanded greatly! Fast service, good food, excellent prices is the way to sum it up! The owner knows that family is the most important thing in the world, not money.

This is one of my favorite breakfast spots! The food here is incredible! I do wish the staff were a bit more attentive, sometimes there are long waits for refills or to get the bill, but Ive loved every item Ive ordered off their menu so far. The culinary skills at Family Ties will keep me coming back for sure.
