Bad Management -- I suppose it is against the rules of etiquette to tell the waitress that your food is cold and there is a hair in your meal. This is what happened today at Pepper Mill in West Chester.....I have been going there for nealy 20 years and just this last year have noticed that the food has gotten sloppy and breakfast is served cold nearly everytime I dine there. I would prefer not to eat cold food when it is supposed to be hot so I mention to the waitress everytime the food is served cold. I like Pepper Mill and that is the reason I return. Not after today---the manager came to replace my wifes meal because she found a hair on her food. By this time she had lost her appetite causing the Manager lose his mind!! He started yelling at me and asking why I keep coming back and why Im not man enough to take the problem directly to him instead of harrassing a 16year old waitress?????? I thougt to myself "is this guy serious" - . Arnt you supposed to tell the waitress when you have a problem? Shame really.... he sould have just appologized and told his chef to check the food before it leaves the kitchen instead of standing in the middle of the restaurant ranting and raving in front of my 8 year old daughter. A big RED FLAG for anyone thinking of eating at Pepper Mill...check your food before you eat it.

What stops me from giving it 5 stars is like what most of other people are saying. Every time I order I usually always get a buff chicken cheesesteak which is very good, but the meat inconsistency is horrible. Sometimes my sandwiches will legit look like peg legs(and Im not even kidding haha) than sometimes it will be a half a cheesesteak. And its also over 10 dollars which is a price of a top dollar cheesesteak anywhere in Philly. If your gonna be charging that price you better be serving huge consistent sandwiches, not a small ass cheesesteak that I end up having to eat something afterwards. Im only ranting about this because of how bad my experience went tonight. Clean your place up and maybe actually have a real manager to make sure everything is ran accordingly.

I love Peppermill and have been going there for cheesesteak for years. That being said my last experience (mid summer 2010) within the restaurant may have deterred me from eating/ordering there again. I sat down to eat and the entire restaurant was filled with fruit flies, they were everywhere. You couldnt take a bit out of your food without flies flying into your eyes. When I made a comment to the waitress, she said they have tried everything but just cant get rid of them! Obviously this wasnt the case, because the floor of the restaurant was covered in trash and food. Pretty sure I ate enough flies for one day, and Im not sure how they legally could have prepared food in that condition. The questions is... will I go back? Maybe, because it is that good.

I called because I love trying new places. Menu seamed nice. But they wouldnt deliver to me. They said I lived in town. I live by henderson high school. There is street parking and nice neighborhoods. I understand not wanting to peddel into the "town" of west chester, but to loose business... that is poor. He hung up on me. So, I called back to ask to speak to the manager or the owner, and he said he was the manager. So, he placed me on hold as to not hang up on me but to no longer speak with me. At no point did I yell, scream, raise my voice.. etc. I simply asked questions and wanted to know how he would loose business because he thinks I live in the heart of west chester. The Pepper Mill is more "in town" than I am

The "waitress" here is rude and incompetent. Didnt realize you had to seat yourself to eat at the restaurant. My girlfriend and I ordered at the counter and proceeded to sit at a table. When we were confused as to why our food was bagged and we brought it to our table to eat, a woman who turned out to be a waitress came to our table and told us she wasnt there for fun about three or four times, berating us before explaining the counter is only for takeout. No one greeted us when we came in and the girl at the counter didnt ask if our order was to go. Not to mention my family has been gettin takeout here for over 10 years. Hilarious way to lose longtime customers.

Really great food! I order frequently. At least twice a week. Not someone who ordered once and is now reviewing them based off one experience. EVERYONE makes the occasional mistake. Order slightly wrong once, Delivery late once. Every other time I have ordered here it has been perfect! Everyone is exceptionally polite and nice on the phone and in person. The food itself has got to be the best you can get delivered in West Chester, for real! I cannot speak for their pizza as I do not order pizza often and have never had theirs but all the other food is 9.5/10. Support your local stores!! Especially the good ones like this! Theyll have my business for a long time.

The food is generally very good, but the portions of meat on the sandwiches is pretty inconsistent. The staff that answers the phones has a habit of completely ignoring you as youre talking, so you have to repeat everything two or three times. Getting mayo on a hoagie instead of oil is an ongoing joke in my household - theyve screwed up for me at least five times. The interior is pretty gross, the owners havent spent a dime on freshening in years. The bathroom near the back entrance is particularly disgusting. This place could really use a new owner that cares about it just a little bit.

My my wife and I moved to Philly recently (from mid-west) and, of course, began testing out Cheese-Steaks wherever we went. This was the 8th place we made it to (with my parents), and theirs were immediately #1 on our list. Weve been to other places (downtown Philly, etc.) that were recommended and had awards on their menus; this easily topped all others. We only went once, and we only had their Cheese-Steaks, but Id go again in a heartbeat. Service was decent, place wasnt the best kept, and all the servers were college-aged. Whatever, I will be back.

While the food was made well, everything arrived at the table cold. When we arrived almost every table was dirty until another customer complained and then the servers started clearing the tables. Obviously, the servers need some training on how to keep the tables clean and to bring the food out in a timely manner after the kitchen has has prepared it. It doesnt matter how good the food is if it doesnt get to the customer in the right condition.

We sat down at the counter and one girl said hello. We looked at menus, picked what we wanted to eat, closed the menus, and sat for a good 5-8 minutes while everyone walked around working and never acknowledged us. The girl standing at the register stared at us as we got up and walked out. I will never go to the peppermill again. Terrible service. This is not the same place I used to come with my grandmother 7 years ago.
