living outside of philadelphia, i like to keep/stay local for most parts except for when it comes to food. when im craving that geniune korean food, i dont think twice about where to go but seorabol. for first timers they have the friendliest/knowledgeable staff that can suggest according to what youre craving for that day. as youve read/heard they probably got the best side dishes in phila, nearly doubling other restaurants. sometimes i sit there and get full off the side dishes while im waiting for my food. LOL my personal favorites at seorabol is "hwe-dup-bap" which is fresh sashimi with veggies that you combine with hot pepper paste and rice. i also make my wife order (hahaha i know~) "ggot gae tang" which is sea food soup with one whole crab chopped in pieces. freshness of the sashimi and the full seafood flavor of the soup puts instant party in my mouth. if you dont spicy/less, you can always ask the chef to make it slightly less according to your taste. to tell you the truth, koreans dont review other korean places because we always compare it to the mother land and find something wrong with the place. but when it comes to seorabol, i gladly took time out to write this review not only because its my favorite korean spot, but its a place that every NON-koreans MUST try so they can fairly say that youve actually had genuine korean food. oh btw, if youre like myself and love to have a drink or two with your meal, try SOJU. its a traditional korean alcoholic beverage that has a kick to it. its a must try with korean BBQ.

This is a gem. Please do not mistake this restaurant as bad because of the surrounding area. I was a little surprised by the chosen location myself. The food is so good and brings a lot of comfort to my heart after moving back to the US, after living in S. Korea for 5 years. I miss Korea, especially the food. True Korean food takes time and a lot of effort especially with exceptionally aged or fermented ingredients. I would recommend this place to anyone. Check out their website we got a free coupon for a seafood pancake! Even our two year old daughter loved it! Staff is kind and considerate and truly try to make sure you have a great experience. In any culture having English as your second language is never easy. Be patient and loving to the staff because they are amazing!

Seorabol is known for their great service and their delicious authentic Korean food. It is a restaurant I would recommend to anyone looking to enjoy a delicious meal. They give you so many side dishes which come out with every entree, the food is fresh and absolutely delightful, their staff is always friendly, their service is great, their prices are reasonable, and their restaurant environment is a comfortable setting. I was also surprised with how great they were with group dinner parties. I like their lunch bento boxes that I frequently order as take out during lunch. I also like their galbi (marinated korean meat) and my favorite is the dwenjang jjigae (soybean soup).

When I saw the prices, I was temporarily concerned; I had no idea what to expect for such a small expense on my part. I ordered a hot green chicken curry, and it was fantastic. The flavor was complex, the curry very nice and spicy, and there was no holding back on the chefs part. One of my laments of most restaurants is that they will "dumb down" or weaken the flavor of foods so that a larger group of people will enjoy the food. This establishment does not shy away from tradition, but takes you away, back to Korea with its delicious cuisine. Very good pricing, excellent quality food, and bold flavor! I will go there each time Im in the area!

Seorabol Korean Restaurant has to be the most authentic Korean restaurant in Philadelphia. I have gone to Seorabol for more than 10 years and their foods taste absolutely fabulous. The owner is the head chef and his skills from his previous days as a head chef of hotel in South Korea tells why Seorabol is the most authentic Korean restaurant in Philadelphia. They offer most colorful banchans (side dishes) and all of your dishes cover most of Korean foods in South Korea. If you are a sushi or sashimi fan, they have great selection of fresh sushi or sashimi trays too. My favorite is their hand rolls...

We came here for Korean bbq and had the house marinated kalbi plus samkeopsal. Meat was good, not LA amazing but better than some places I have been in Flushing NY. Banchan was also on point however nothing ground breaking either. The staff are friendly and very attentive. The place itself needs a remodeling as there are no exhaust fans hanging directly over the grills, so every patron will leave with the grill smell lingering. The interior design also leaves something to be desired. Also the facilities like the restrooms are dingy and grimy so do not wear your Sunday best here!

Some of the best Korean barbecue Ive had. In my opinion better than many places in LA or NYC. Seorabol uses charcoal grills to give their BBQ a distinct, delicious taste. Each meal is served with plenty of fresh, unique banchan. Their seafood pancake is perfectly crispy and generous with the seafood. Seorabol also offers coupons for seafood pancakes if you sign up for their email subscription. Although it is not located in the nicest area, do not overlook Seorabol. With delicious food and large portions at very reasonable prices, Seorabol should not be missed.

I live right across the street from here. Been curious for a while. When my mom came to visit we decided to try it. We got two different bbq and a sushi boat. That thing cost almost 60 bucks and we had only three types of fish. Mostly salmon 3 diff ways. And they just dropped the food off and left us. We had no idea when we were doing with the meat and the bbq. I guess you have to be asian to get good service. They could obviously see that we were struggling. And like i said i live close and could have been a loyal customer but they lost out.

Living away from the motherland is very difficult, especially for people who crave home cooked meal. But that problem was instantly solved at Seorabol. Their side dishes are always plentiful and I cant get enough of their Jae Yook Bok Eum (spicy pork stir-fry). Their Kalbi BBQ is alway juicy and well marinated and I always have to top it off with Neng Myun (cold noodle) after the Kalbi. Everything tastes just like food from back home. I highly recommend Seorabol to those who crave gourmet Korean food. A++++++

Seorbal is a nice authentic Korean restaurant tucked away in an unassuming strip mall of North East philly with plenty of seating. There are a wide selection of Korean options available including the traditional favorites of galbi, bulgogi, and stone pot bibim bap. For those feeling more adventurous, there are many more traditional and less common offerings. They also have a sushi bar and some Japanese dishes such as tempura and lunch box specials. The specials just are not available on Sundays or holidays.

People seem to really like this place, but I would advise going with someone who knows Korean food in and out. The options that I chose did not put well with each other, and I was left with a bland meal. Not saying that their other options are bad, just saying I would like some assistance with ordering next time. I cannot recommend the seafood pancake, but the side dishes are a nice touch. Their dumpling soup is nothing to rave about. Id say seorabol is worth a another shot.
