I just got back from Eulogy. Our first time here. My boyfriend wanted to take me out on Christmas because Im sad and we both finally have the same day off. We wanted to go to the Ice Skating Rink on Penns Landing, but it was closed because of the melting ice and weather from yesterday. So my boyfriend and I decided to go here. Since there was so many good reviews, we were close by and my customer from my old job recommended me to come here. Worse mistake never! I never written a review before, but was call for! We decided to sit at the bar downstairs. The bartender took 5 mins to acknowledge us and he keep telling us to wait for him to take our order. It took him 15 mins to take our order. There was about maybe 8 people at the bar including us. We got there when after everyone else. So they already got their drinks and foods. I ordered St. Bernardus Christmas Ale and my boyfriend ordered the Dirty Ho. The bartender got my beer in 5 mins, but take 10 mins to tell us he dont got the cup for the Dirty Hoe. So my boyfriend order a different beer and Moules Sausage Boursin & Potato Mussels. When we was waiting for him to take our order he was flirting with the waitress. When she came to tell him that a customer is waiting for their check. He made a comment saying she is so cute that he just want to hug her. So unprofessional! When the mussels arrived the waiter guy was about to give us our mussels, but the bartender took it and say it is the couple next to us and gave it to them. The couple gave it back to us and said that my boyfriend and I order first. Not only that he didnt give us any plates, napkins and utensils. My boyfriend and I was already upset about how long the bartender took to take our order and he just made another two more mistakes! We just wanted to enjoy our Holiday so we drank our beer and ate our mussels. The beers is good, but the mussels was bland! While we was eating the waitress came back to get a drink from the bartender. After he made the drink he made another comment to her. He said he like her smile and she should keep smiling. Can I say "sexual harassment"! My boyfriend and I didnt feel welcome here and felt that the bartender was a jerk! So we finish our beer and food and decided to leave. We waited for our check so I decided to go to the restroom and came back. We still didnt get our check. We waited 15 mins for him to give us our check. Since it is Christmas we was going to give the bartender a BIG TIPS, but he just mess it up for himself! I thought bartender is mostly working off of tips, but in his case all he worried about is flirting with the waitress and bossing the waiter around! Ive never been to a bar like this and seen my boyfriend so upset! He was so angry that he just wanted to go straight home and didnt even go to the restroom. Even though he really needed to go! Terrible customer service, the mussels was bland and overcooked, and the bartender was very unprofessional! We was there maybe an hour and it was the worse experience ever! Monks is more busier, but they gave better customer service, foods is better and they was professional! I wish I got that bartender name, but we were to angry and just wanted to leave! Never going back there again! Sorry one STARS for this place! Thanks for ruining our "Christmas Night"!

Stratospheric beer selection, yes, but on a recent visit, dinner and service were poor. Mussels had been extremely overcooked, and they should be pilloried for calling frozen french fries "frites" (I believe this is actually punishable by death in the country of Belgium). What else? Our server opened a beer and let it geyser all over the table, and then 1) didnt clean it up and 2) didnt bring a fresh bottle. What is that all about, in a place where beer is your speciality? FTR, I aint one of those picky people who likes to nitpick; this really happened as described. What else? We order our first round, and my beer was kept at the second floor bar, where we were sitting. My friends choices were kept downstairs. The server gets my beer, and leaves it on the table, and then disappears for over 10 minutes before returning with the rest of our round. It is 6:30 on a weeknight, and the place is not busy, so theres no excuse. Again, this is how drinks are served? Pretty lame. This persisted throughout the night: l-oooo-ng breaks between visits from Dude, who stood in the corner engrossed in his phone instead of earning money by serving me beer after delicious beer. Bottom line: drink, but dont eat, and sit at the bar downstairs. Hope they fix things here, or we were there on an "off night", etc.

Me and a good friend were spending a weekend in Philadelphia on business, and originally intended to go to Buddakan for dinner. Were from NY, but never been to the one here. Our reservation ended up being too late, so we differed our plans and went into Eulogy on a suggestion from a Philly friend we had. The place was extremely crowded inside, but had a very positive energy in the air. We enjoyed a Hoegarden tapped perfectly, and got a table upstairs. Our waiter Martin was absolutely amazing. Some of the best service Ive had in a while. He matched my extensive knowledge of Belgian Ales, and was able to make some excellent suggestions. He went beyond the obvious, and really understood our pallets based on what we liked. We ordered the house fries with their special sauce. Delicious and satisfying. We had the steak with smoked Gouda cheese. I had mine with a Rodenbach and the sourness of the beer mixed with the smoked taste of the steak was sublime. A true delight in every sense. The Environment inside is also very conducive to long talks, and intimate discussion. Again, Id highly recommend this as a stop for anyone in Philadelphia, and request Martin as your server. A stand up guy, who really represents not just what great service is made of, but how to create a better experience.

Eulogy seems to have some mediocre reviews, but that is silly. Were talking about 150-250 wonderful beers. No Bud, no Miller, no Rolling rock, etc. So thats 150-250 GOOD Belgian (high alcohol) beers, with about 20-30 Belgian beers on tap. Again, there is no Yuengling tap - these are Belgian beers on tap!! The food goes great with beer, the mussels are saucy, may or may not be to your taste. The burgers are good, the fries are good, the location is excellent. The food is not as good as Monks, but the beer selection is much larger, which makes up for it in my opinion. A few folks complained about the staff, but Ive always found them very friendly and cool, which I would rarely say about any place. Im surprised anyone would complain about Eulogy, perhaps these are people that dont quite get the whole Belgian beer thing.

WORSE dinning experience of my life. After order food and drinks, it took 45 minutes for the waitress to bring us tap water. After 1 hour waiting for a simple sandwich, I asked the waitress for a prediction (since I had other compromises) and he pointed his finger to the exit and rudely said that he was giving too much attention to us - by the end the food took 2h30min to be delivered to my friends. I have never been treated like that before and I felt too bad to stay in that place. I have to add that I spent one week in Belgium last June and was very well treated there, everywhere: coffee shops, oriental shops, restaurants, bars, pubs and in the streets by locals. Therefore, it seems that this place has NOTHING to do with Belgian culture.
