My extended family and I (four adults, two children under age 5) stopped here for breakfast on our way to Knoebels Grove on a Sunday, mainly because its one of the only options along our route and relatively close (15 minutes) from the camprgound/park. Next time well drive straight through... Village Towne is a fairly standard no-frills family restaurant. After seating ourselves (there is no hostess), we were given menus fairly quickly and our drink orders were taken. So far, so good. Our drinks were brought out by another waitress who then took our breakfast order. And then we proceeded to wait. And wait. And wait some more. After 25 minutes of waiting until our food came out with no word from our sever, my wife tracked her down and asked if it would be much longer. After all, our young children, who are no strangers to dining out, were getting a bit restless at this point. I should also mention that the restaurant was not even half full at this point, and we had seen numerous customers that arrived after us receive their food. When my wife asked about the status of our food, the waitress asked "where are you sitting again"? Not a good sign. She then said "your food will be out in just a minute". We all strongly suspected she had never even put in our order. When the food took another 10 minutes to arrive, we pretty much knew we were right. No apologies or explanation from the waitress. She never checked up on us again after than, and we had to go find her once again to ask for our check. She said she would bring it momentarily. We waited ANOTHER almost 10 minutes, she still had not brought our check, so we just went to the register to ask for a bill so we could pay and leave. She hastily started adding it up, and it took almost 5 minutes for her to tally the check and process our payment. All told, from the time we walked through the door to the time we left, we were in Village Towne restaurant for over an hour and a half - for breakfast. Being from NJ, we eat out at diners and family restaurants all the time, and this was without a doubt the worst service weve ever received. It would have been more tolerable had our waitress given some sort of apology or explanation, but neither were provided. As to the food, the toast was really just warm bread - no crispiness to it at all, probably because it was made hastily when they realized they did not process our original order. Pancakes were very large (one could easily feed two hungry children), but a bit on the chewy side. Creamed chipped beef was better than average, but not a standout. Scrapple was excellent. Their menu offered "french toast made with blueberries, or topped with blueberry compote". My mother ordered it with blueberries, and when it arrived, it came plain. When she asked for the blueberry french toast instead, our waitress said that this wasnt an option - just for the blueberry compote "topping". When we pointed to the fact that the menu specifically stated they had an option containing real blueberries, she said "Im not sure why it says that, Ill have to check". We never did get an explanation, as that was the last time she stopped by our table until we tracked her down to (try to) get our check. About the only thing this restaurant has going for it is that the portions are large and the prices are very reasonable. Thats what kept it from getting a one-star rating. However, the abysmal service turns this location into one we will not take a chance on again, regardless if it is the only option for miles or not... Avoid, unless you truly have a few hours to kill over a mediocre meal...

Delightfully unexpected. Stopped on a whim while passing through to get a bite to eat. My sister and myself and my teenage son in a wheelchair. Very warm inviting atmosphere, very friendly staff, delicious food. Very accomodating to my sons wheelchair and brought us out a homemade chicken pot pie that was this side of Heaven! I am sure the prices are reasonable but since someone paid our tab secretly, I have no clue! The chef also trains therapy dogs (we had our sons therapy dog with us). This little place is Pennsylvania all rolled into a salad bar and fresh from the oven downhome goodness. I would drive a country mile back to this place just for a glass of water. Thank you for the highlight of our week. You folks rock! (As all of PA does)

Great food for a great price! Could have been a tad cleaner, and salad bar could have been better. But the seafood condo was awesome, especially for the price! Worth it to stop by!!
