In a nutshell, great food, overpriced and needs improvement with service. We here with my husband and son for dinner, first off was impressed with the renovation they have done after the dump that was Bombay Junction. First disappointment was that in the kids menu they have no Uttapam, with would be rather filling to my son so i go the mini dosa but they refused to put any filling in it other than spicy potato curry which would be too spicy for him. so left my son a bit hungary...not good when you are charging almost $6 for mini rice pancake. good thing i always keep snacks in his diaper bag. for appetizer we had got the mirch bhaji, it was excellent and i thing was priced right. I like my spring dosas with paneer and verggies, which wasnt on the menu so i asked them if they can add some panneer to their veggi spring dosa, waiter bluntly said no, he said they have a paneer dosa which is not on menu, so i went with that...my dosa came before my husbands meal is pretty much a sprinkling or thinly shredded paneer which i would hardly taste, might as well have ordered a sada dosa! any way i was tired and wasnt in the mood to bicker with them so i decided to order chole batura wich was also good, as the dosa wtih not filling is not filling my husband got a paneer dish which he seems to also enjoy this place has great potential, only problem is they seem to want to run this place like they are in India, which may be fine as most of their food is geared for Indian taste, but then expect the same appreciation from you customer when its time for gratuity.

The restaurant was clean and the servers were friendly. I ordered the Egg Masala and garlic naan. With the Egg Masala you get a bow of white rice. I liked the Egg Masala it was very flavorful and had a lovely chili taste to it. Though I would have made the egg yolks in the Masala cooked softer or a bit more runny to give the Masala a creamier taste. It also was a tad too rich for me and was bit too greasy. Thats just my personal take. I wasnt too fond of the rice they gave me, it was a bit long and thin and not as soft as I prefer my rice. I like thick, soft, fluffy, with a bit of chewiness to my rice. It did have a wonderful aromatic after taste to it though. As for the garlic naan, it was quite delicious. It was light and fluffy. It also still had a crispness too that was delightful to bite into. It had just the slightest oil on it which wasnt overbearing. It also had some herbs on it as well as small minced pieces of garlic that gave a zing to it. The price for the naan wasnt bad, you get 3 medium slices of naan for 2.99. The Masala was more pricey at 9.49. I think some kind of bread should be given as a side with the Masala, but thats just my personal opinon. Overall I like the Bawarchi and I think you will too.

Was recommended to this place when I asked for lunch suggestions. It is different from typical Indian places I have been, but thats not a bad thing. I got the boneless executive lunch, and it was a little spicy, it delicious. HUGE portion, too. I had a very nice doggie bag to take home. I also had the mango lassi, which tasted less sweet/mango and more like yogurt then Id prefer, but was still decent. I cant speak to the authenticity of the place, as I am full blooded American mutt, but it seems many folks of Indian decent patronized the place, so I take that as a good sign. Finally, the gentleman behind the desk, who also acted as my server, was attentive and very pleasant. All in all, a good experince.

Yesterday, 24th April 2016 returning from Hershey park, picked this restaurant after looking at the good Yelp Reviews.. Had very bad experience.. Service is the only good over here.. pls do not try any of dum biryani.. tried Veg, chicken & Goat. All were very bad. Take your chances. I wouldnt suggest.. I am little picky about food. Stopping for food turned out to be my worst nightmare. ALSO, my friends who had over here felt the same. We didnt mention any Spicy level. We all had heart burn all night. We preferred to throw away the left over biryani which we had and couldnt take chance to make them to-go. Only good thing at this place is the "Sweet Pan".

Biryani is on point. (excuse the pun). I came here once and ordered the Bawarchi special boneless chicken biryani and was extremely satisfied with both the portion size (more than enough for two people) and how good it tasted. Very true to authentic South Indian cuisine. The restaurant itself and the service was passable -- definitely not a fine dining experience -- but the food more than makes up for it. Suffice it to say that I will be bringing my born-and-raised-in-India parents here for biryani when they come to visit (and I have no doubts that theyll love the food). Highly recommended.

If you feel like having authentic Indian food, this is the best place for you. The food is amazing. I come here quite often and the food is consistently good... The biryanis here are out of the world and the appetizers are great too.. Some times we come down here to have quick bites like samosas and bajjis which are served hot and yummy...The staff here is friendly and you feel at home..Price is decent for the tasty food we get...Overall experience has been great so far and i will keep coming... :)

Clean restaurant with courteous staff. Spice level is authentic from South of India but may be difficult to handle for someone new to the cuisine. Tried the classic South Indian- dosa, idli , medu vada- awesome taste! Had experimented with a spicy biryani in a moment of bravado despite being warned by staff and regretted it for next 24 hrs! Recommend checking with staff regarding spice tolerance!

We have ordered a couple of veg curries with butter naan and a starter. Gobi manchuria was sweet with more sauce on it which didnt taste good enough. Paneer butter masala had more colour added to it which looked colourful but not tasty. Gutti Vankaya had no taste at all. We ended up half eaten and also leaving quite some food just like that. Definitely a NO atleast for vegetarians!

We are so glad they opened Bawarchi in place of Bombay Junction (BJ). A big thank you to Penn Dept of Agriculture for coming down on BJ. Bawarchi is just opposite of BJ in every aspect you can think of. Bawarchi scores full points in all the three areas; food quality, quantity and price. They are just excellent. Team Bawarchi, please keep up the good work.

Best Indian Restaurant in town. They are clean, courteous, and serve deliciously tasty Indian food. Couple of suggestions- 1. The Indo-Chinese items: They are a not what they are supposed to taste like. So stay away from them. 2. Ambience - owners, please consider your guests preferences on what you run on those TVs.
