This is a historic tour where you learn all about how Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery came to be and how he originally made the first hard pretzels. They even teach you how to roll your own pretzel. The tour is only about 30 minutes, but it only cost a few dollars. Their store is fully stocked and they sell their freshly made soft pretzels for only a dollar each. UNCLE GERRY’S TIP: Check out Wilbur Chocolates which is less than a mile away. If you like Hersheys chocolate you’ll love Wilbur Chocolate.

We visited the Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery a few weeks ago, and the visit was well worth it. There is a short 20 minute tour for 3 dollars where they explain the history of the pretzel, how it arrived here etc. Free soft pretzel at the end of he tour. This bakery was founded in 1861 and one of the sons Tom Sturgis moved his operation to Reading. There is also a small shop and an area with brochures, maps, coupons and pamphlets on the Lancaster Area.

Whether youre a lover of pretzels or not, this historic bakery is worth your time. I visited when I was seven and was thrilled to return years later with my own family. The tour is very inexpensive and lasts about 25 minutes. Our guide, Kevin, was very informative and friendly. They sell a wide variety of products and souvenirs related to pretzels. Be sure to try the samples and buy a fresh soft pretzel before you leave.

Now I can honestly say I was not a big pretzel thing but after going to Julius Sturgis Pretzel Factory these are the absolute best pretzels. They are light and Airy, I brought home 3 large bags shared two with my neighbors but once I started eating mind this was one time I wish I had not giving away gifts and to speak of the hot pretzels they are to die for.

Its a fun, inexpensive activity. It was fun to see the original bakery. You do get to make a pretzel, unfortunetly, you do not get to bake it and eat it, so that was disappointing. Also, it is no longer an active bakery so dont expect to see that. Overall it was a fun, quick trip, i recommend it.

Wife and I had a great time, was fun making our own soft pretzel and learning about how it used to be made. The tour was cheap, but was very very short, so if it was any more expensive I would have been upset for how short it was. Very crowded, but had a good time. Also, GREAT soft pretzels.

A fun place to visit in downtown Lititz to learn about some local history. The factory tour is really fun because they teach you how to hand roll a pretzel and teach you about the history of the Sturgis family pretzel bakery. This is a fun tour for all ages.

While visiting, we took the tour, which was family friendly and informative. While full of detail, the staff kept things moving with a light attitude and a pretzel twisting experience that was a hit with kids. Highly recommend while in the area

Fun, brief tour of historic pretzel-making factory. You dont see pretzels being made but you do get to try your hand at twisting, complete with pretzel-twisting certificate. Great for families with young kids and young at heart.

Neat piece of history. Fun to learn how pretzels are - and were - made. A little disappointed we were not able to eat the pretzels we made, however. There was a small gift shop with t-shirts, books, and of course pretzels.

Smooth traffic and the right kind of salty. There are loads of treat options to prepare for and I did not do the tour of the building but architecture is special and I bet its rare to get such an up close gander

I went on the tour for some sturgis history. It is definitely fun for young kids. The demonstration was educational. The tickets very reasonable and items are well priced. I would go back again with my kids.

Loved the tour and the soft pretzels after. Cute place with lots of history. Its only a half hour tour because the bakery isnt huge. Entertaining half hour that you "made" your own pretzel in.

I know this is the first bakery in the US to do the pretzels, but these are very hard and not very tasty. Anyways is good to try and have a bite of history.
